The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted thunderstorm and rain accompanied with a dust storm for Western Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, Western UP is likely to witness dust storm, rain and thunderstorm in the next two hours.

As per the IMD, the monsoon is hovering over Maharashtra in the west and parts of Odisha, West Bengal and Assam in the east and northeast India.

Last week, a deadly thunderstorm hit parts of Uttar Pradesh, killing 10 people and injuring 28 others.

Meanwhile, the IMD announced no sight of monsoon for Delhi and the adjoining areas for the coming week.&nbsp

"There's no chance of revival of monsoon in next five to six days. Rainfall will be less than normal. We'll have to wait for a week for further advancement of monsoon. There has been thunderstorm activity in North-West India, it'll continue for 1-2 days," IMD official Charan Singh noted.

"Delhi NCR will not experience much activity. In next 24 hours, there can be only sparse rainfall. North Punjab, north Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand will experience rainfall for next two days," Singh added.

The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees, while the minimum temperature stood at 28 degrees on Sunday.

Talking about the murders of rationalists in Maharashtra and Karnataka, Muthalik was quoted by ANI as saying: "Two murders took place in Karnataka and two in Maharashtra in Congress rule. No one questioned Congress government failure. Instead, they are asking why is PM Modi silent and not speaking on Gauri Lankesh’s death. Is Modi responsible even if any dog dies in Karnataka?"&nbsp

News reports quoted Muthalik as saying later that he had not been comparing Lankesh to a dog but only pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot comment on every death in Karnataka.

Lankesh was <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/senior-journalist-gauri-lankesh-shot-dead-in-her-bengaluru-home-19910">shot dead</a> just outside her Bengaluru home on September 5 last year by motorcycle-borne men.&nbsp

Muthalik's organisation is under scrutiny for the murder, with police saying the man suspected to have shot Lankesh, Parashuram Waghmare, was an active member of the Sri Ram Sene.&nbsp

Muthalik however had earlier distanced himself and his organisation from Waghmare, and the killings of Lankesh and the other rationalists.&nbsp

"There is no connection between Sri Ram Sene and Waghmare. He is neither our member nor our worker. This I say very clearly," Muthalik told PTI.&nbsp

The Sene chief added that when the Pakistani flag-hoisting issue surfaced — Waghmare was arrested for allegedly hoisting a Pakistani flag in his home town of Sindagi in Karnataka's Vijayapura district in 2012 with the intention of creating communal tensions in the area — it was said that Waghmare was a member of the Sri Ram Sene.&nbsp

Muthalik however had at the time claimed to have proved Waghmare was not a member of the Sri Ram Sene but of the RSS. "I had shared his pictures sporting RSS uniform. I had said at that time that he is an RSS worker and not of Sri Ram Sene," Muthalik had told PTI.&nbsp

In a one-of-a-kind incident, a girl in West Bengal's Hooghly district accidentally shot her mother while playing with a loaded pistol. The mother spotted the pistol lying outside the house and handed over to the child mistaking it for a toy, ANI reported.&nbsp;

The victim, who was shot in the back, has been admitted in a critical condition to the nearest hospital. The incident occurred on Saturday.&nbsp;

According to reports, as many as 90 lakh trucks are expected to be off the road. Workers feel that the hike in diesel prices is not due to high international prices but because of high taxes levied by the central and the state governments.

The workers demand the inclusion of diesel prices or petroleum products in the ambit Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Truck owners have also urged the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to bring down the hike in third party insurance premium, the authority has not yet responded to their demand, say reports.

The indefinite strike is likely to affect the supply chain leading to a hike in prices of perishable goods.&nbsp;

The Enforcement Directorate today charged embattled liquor baron Vijay Mallya and his two firms for fraudulently "diverting" over Rs 3,700 crore bank loan funds to a UK-based F1 motorsport firm, a T20 IPL team, and for enjoying private jet sorties.

The ED's fresh chargesheet against Mallya and his firms is likely to pave the way for him to be declared "fugitive" under a new Indian law.

The agency named Mallya and his firms - Kingfisher Airlines Limited and United Breweries (United Breweries Holdings Limited) - in its voluminous prosecution complaint filed before a special Mumbai court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The chargesheet revolves around a complaint received from State Bank of India on behalf of the consortium of banks for causing loss of Rs 6,027 crore to them by not keeping repayment commitments of the loans taken during 2005-10, officials said.

The ED had filed an FIR in the case in August, 2016 after going through a CBI FIR.

"The SBI, which is the consortium leader, has calculated the amount (of the loan) to the tune of Rs 9,990.07 crore (including applied interest) as on May 15, 2018," the agency said in the chargesheet.

The ED alleged that Mallya and KAL officials "hatched a criminal conspiracy for obtaining/sanctioning of bank loan to Ms KAL in gross violations of established procedures and the firm had no intention for repayment of the loan."

It charged that the accused - Mallya and KAL - projected the "brand value of the airline as a collateral security inspite of the same being a hypothetical assets and suffering from deficiencies."

It said the loans were obtained by placing the corporate guarantee of the firm UBHL and personal guarantee of Mallya, the chairman of KAL.

"KAL had offered as a security, negative lien on fleet of hire purchase/finance lease aircraft against the loans availed from the banks despite being well aware that the said security was only a symbolic security in nature and was grossly inadequate to cover the exposure of the banks," the ED said.

It added that KAL "acquired" a corporate jet for passenger operations for globe-trotting of UB group chairman Mallya, its senior officials and VVIP/chartered trips and it was stated that there would be surplus income from the operations of this plane.

"However, the said jet was never used for the said purpose and mainly used as a personal carrier for Mallya as it catered to his family members and friends," the ED alleged.

It said KAL used two aircraft of Ms Veling Limited, by leasing them on very high lease rentals as compared to the market, and allegedly siphoned of Rs 3,432.40 crore funds by "over-invoicing the payments" made to the said plane owning company.

It said KAL made payments of GBP 30,348,452.25 (over Rs 254 crore) to UK-based Force India Formula One Team Limited (FIF1TL) and Mallya "surreptitiously transferred funds of the firm giving a false purpose of remittance and thus diverted the funds (loan amount)."

Talking about the T-20 cricket Indian Premier League team, the ED chargesheet said, that the Bengaluru franchise of this sporting extravaganza (named Royal Challengers) was purchased by Mallya and "loan amount of Rs 15.90 crore was siphoned of and diverted from the bank acount of KAL held with Deutsche Bank to Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru."

Thus, it said, Mallya "deliberately and intentionally diverted the loan amounts from the bank accounts of KAL to other bank accounts of his interest."

The agency said it has attached assets valued at Rs 4,234.84 crore in this case and "by concealing these properties and non-payment of loan amount and diverting the loan proceeds out of India, Mallya and UBHL benefitted from the same and hence they are involved in the offence of money laundering."

It charged that some group companies of the UB group, of which Mallya was chairman, did not had "any actual activity and independent source of income" and the beleaguered businessman controlled all these companies through his office personnel.

"The directors in these companies were namesake or dummy directors who were at command of Mallya. There are movable and immovable assets in these companies in the form of shares of public listed companies and landed properties," it said.

Officials said the agency will soon move a court, after the special court takes cognisance of the latest charge sheet, to get declared Mallya a fugitive under a new Ordinance enacted by the Modi government.

PTI was first to report yesterday that after this charge sheet, the central probe agency would immediately seek permission from a court to "confiscate" assets worth more than Rs 9,000 crore of the beleaguered businessman and his firms under the recently promulgated Fugitive Economic Offenders Ordinance.&nbsp;

The ED last year filed its first chargesheet against Mallya, now in London, in the alleged Rs 900-crore IDBI Bank-Kingfisher Airlines loan fraud case.

Ranbir Kapoor took over Twitter on Father's Day; shared pics with real and reel dad

Ahead of the fourth Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said it makes people better individuals in thought, action, knowledge and devotion.

He also said that yoga is not just a set of exercises that keep the body fit, it is a "passport" to health assurance and a key to fitness and wellness.&nbsp

In a video message posted on his Twitter handle, the prime minister said yoga is one of the most precious gifts given by the ancient Indian sages to humankind.&nbsp

"Yoga is not only what you practise in the morning. Doing your day-to-day activities with diligence and complete awareness is a form of yoga as well," he said.&nbsp

Free from illness, a path to wellness -- that is the path of yoga, he said.&nbsp

"...It teaches us to see others the same as ourselves, yoga makes us better individuals in thought, action, knowledge and devotion," he said. &nbsp &nbsp&nbsp

He said the set of exercises bring about oneness among the mind, body and intellect. "We begin to understand ourselves much better, which also makes us understand others better."

Referring to the "problems of modern lifestyle", he said that people suffer from stress-related ailments and also lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.&nbsp

"Stress and depression have become silent killers," he said. &nbsp &nbsp&nbsp

He said, in a world of excess, yoga promises restraint and balance.&nbsp

"In a world suffering from mental stress, yoga promises calm in a distracted world, yoga helps focus in a world of fear, yoga promises hope, strength and courage," he said in his message.

He said yoga offers a solution to ailments and practising it helps combat stress and find peace.

On June 21, he will lead a massive mass yoga event in Dehradun.

Sujoy Ghosh, who is best known for his film 'Kahaani' is making his new thriller 'Badla'. &nbsp;The film reunites Pink co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Latest news suggests that Shahh Rukh Khan has also come on board.&nbsp; 
 
King Khan and Big B have earlier worked in blockbusters like 'Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Mohabbatein', and 'Bhoothnath'. But unlike these films, SRK will not act in Badla. The actor, instead is the co-producer of the film, states a news daily.&nbsp; 
 
Confirming the news, Ghosh said, "When you get an actor like Amitabh Bachchan, half your battle is won as he’s every director’s delight and I’m extremely excited to direct him. Also, I have been trying to work with Taapsee for a while. This is the perfect story to collaborate with her on. My excitement is doubled now that the film is being produced by SRK. I couldn’t have asked for a better team and now it is time for work." 
 
Ghosh's crime thriller is reportedly an adaptation of the Spanish film 'The Invisible Guest' (2014).&nbsp;

Ghosh stated that both SRK and Big B really liked the script of the film. "I thought it was superlative material for AB Sir and pitched it to him. Taapsee was already on board, SRK also loved the source material and the collaboration happened seamlessly." 
 
The crew is currently shooting in London for the film.&nbsp;

The grand alliance that was united during the Karnataka chief minister's swearing-in ceremony for the 2019&nbsp;Lok Sabha polls&nbsp;seems to already undergo conflict as the Samajawadi Party has decided not to ally with Congress in Uttar Pradesh for 2019 Lok Sabha.

Several media reports have quoted SP sources as saying that they were not willing to ally with the Congress in UP.

The sources claim that the Congress "does not fit into the political narrative"&nbsp;that the SP and Bahujan Samaj Party want to build against the BJP in UP.

Samajwadi Party not to ally with Congress in UP for 2019 polls

Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir today described as "disappointing" the Centre's announcement of not extending the ceasefire in the state and blamed the Centre and the state government for not making it effective.

"It is disappointing but not entirely (an) unexpected development," the state's main opposition National Conference (NC)'s spokesperson Junaid Mattu told PTI.

Mattu said the Central government should have done some necessary back channel work for the ceasefire to be effective.

"The decision to announce the ceasefire was welcomed by us and we had expected that the decision would have been taken after due application of mind and with the necessary back channel work. That turned out not to be the case and the recent developments including the tragic assassination of (veteran journalist and editor 'Rising Kashmir') Shujaat Bukhari made this decision inevitable," he said.&nbsp

The NC spokesperson said the "failure"&nbspof the Centre's unilateral ceasefire was the "collective failure" of the state and the central government and a loss for all those who believe in peaceful resolution to "Kashmir's political issue".

The ruling PDP said while the party was also disappointed, there was very little it could do as peace is a two-way traffic.

"Peace is a two-way traffic, it is not one way. We tried everything from our side. Is there any CBM (confidence building measure) which we or Mehbooba did not work on. Stone-pelters were given amnesty, their cases, in thousands, were revoked, even those who were booked in 2010 by the then NC government.&nbspThere was a dialogue process. Even Union Home Minister mentioned talks with Hurriyat by taking their name. What else could we have done?" PDP general secretary Peerzada Mansoor told PTI.

"You can lead a horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink. Ceasefire happened after many years. Last time it happened, the government was opposed to that. We called for an all-party meet this time where there was a consensus. Then Mehbooba initiated it, we are grateful that the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) honoured it. Then (Union) Home Minister announced it. "You saw how death and destruction stopped in the Ramadhan except for one boy who came under a forces vehicle. People had a sigh of relief. You travel to Pulwama or Shopian and see. But, see the situation in the last few days. What happened to Bukhari. How he was mercilessly killed. What can we do?" he said.

Mansoor said the situation in the valley had left the ruling party with no choice.

Criticising the separatists for setting pre-conditions for talks, the PDP leader said engagement is in the interest of Kashmir and its people.

"... They (separatists) could also have constituted a team. If the Centre has constituted a team (special representative Dineshwar Sharma), let them (separatists) also form a team, but there should be engagement so that people are saved from death and destruction. What can we do, where will we go. Kashmir is burning because of these things," he said.

Mansoor said while the party was disappointed by the Centre's decision, the situation was such that ceasefire could not have been extended. However, he said the party has not lost hope.

"We have not lost all hope. We are hopeful that a better sense will prevail. Let them tell us what Mehbooba should do, we are ready to do that,"&nbsphe said.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president G A Mir said the BJP-led government at the centre did not have any clear policy or roadmap on Kashmir. He said the while all the mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir pitched for a ceasefire in Kashmir in the holy month of Ramadhan, the Centre's decision to revoke it has been taken unilaterally.

"They have never tried to take on-board mainstream parties for a national consensus. So, even today's decision is a unilateral one. They have not kept in mind that J-K is a sensitive issue where the situation is sensitive and for which a consensus needed to be built at the country or the Parliamentary level where some other opinion could have come up or a direction could have been taken where other people would have contributed. Therefore, this decision has been taken unilaterally,"&nbspMir told PTI.

He said there was some effect of the ceasefire on the ground in the valley which his party also appreciated.&nbsp

"Especially, in the month of Ramadhan, people got respite from sudden crackdowns and search operations which (otherwise) disturbed the situation. There was definitely a difference (in the situation). Now, have they assessed that angle or not, we do not know. Whether they asked the state government for their opinion or not as they were also monitoring it and did they take their coalition partner (PDP) on board or not, nobody knows,"&nbsphe said.&nbsp

The JKPCC president asked chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to come clean on the decision.

Mir said the effect of the Centre's direction to the security forces to resume operations against the militants, "will show in a few days' time as to which level the situation will head to".&nbsp

"How the situation plays now, the responsibility of that will lie on the Central government as well as Mehbooba," the Congress leader said.

On Sunday, a total of 8 tons relief material was provided in the flood-affected areas of Tripura's Kailashahar and Assam's Hailakandi area by the Indian Air Force.

According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of river Brahmaputra is increasing by 4-5 cms per hour and will soon touch the danger level in the next 2-3days.

The power supply has been also affected in many areas. Educational institutes and government offices also remained closed in many districts.

Overall 4.5 lakh people have been affected at 6 districts in the current wave of floods in Assam.

Some of the worst-hit areas in the district are Wangoi, Lamphel, Iroishemba, Lamsang, Patsoi and Konthoujam.

Yesterday, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued 6 thousand people at Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts.

In lieu of excessive flooding, over one lakh displaced people have taken shelter at temporary relief camps.

Around 430 people were evacuated from Irong, Maibam, Uchiwa, Arapati, Kiyamgei, Achanbigai and Mongjam villages of Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West District of Manipur earlier this week.

The Army has also rescued more than 950 people from Kailashahar, Indiranagar, Fatikroy, Santail, Kumarghat in Tripura. Over 2000 people are living in relief camps at Kailashahar.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while chairing the fourth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, assured the Chief Ministers from flood-affected States that the Centre would provide all assistance to them, to deal with flood situation currently affecting parts of the country.

The title of the seminar referred to the meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping had in Wuhan, China in April. 
 
Luo said China, Russia and Mongolia had a similar summit, so he sees no reason why India, Pakistan and China can't. He added that peace along the borders is in the interests of all nations.

In response to queries on the comments made by the Chinese Ambassador to India on a trilateral Summit between India, China and Pakistan, the Official Spokesperson said "We have seen reports on comments made by the Chinese Ambassador in this matter. We have not received any such suggestion from the Chinese government. We consider the statement as the personal opinion of the Ambassador. The initiative comes ahead of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections for which the government is expected to reach out to the people and highlight the works done by it in the last four years.&nbsp;

The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) is the nodal agency of the central government for advertising on behalf of various ministries, departments, public sector firms and autonomous organisations funded by the government.

The advertisements are carried in various media platforms, including print and visual media.&nbsp;

The sources said the study will help the government to understand which medium to be used for publicising a particular state scheme for better impact.&nbsp;

Last year, the DAVP was merged with the Directorate of Field Publicity and Song and Drama Division to form a new entity --Bureau of Outreach Communication-- for bringing in synergy for efficient publicity works of the government.

The DAVP had spent about Rs 1,286 crore in 2016-17 on advertisements about government policies, schemes, projects and events through various media, the Rajya Sabha was informed last year.

The amount spent by the advertising agency for 2016-17 was 8.15 per cent higher than Rs 1,188.85 crore spent in 2015-16.&nbsp;

I&B ministry to study impact of government advertisements on people

India has agreed to open four new air entry points to Nepal in the eastern and western parts of the country.

This aims at facilitating movement of international traffic.

Two vital entry points, however, are still on hold.

The four routes that India agreed to make two-way are Kathmandu-Biratnagar-Dhaka, Kathmandu-Janakpur-Kolkata, and Kathmandu-Janakpur-Patna in the eastern part of Nepal and Kathmandu-Mahendranagar-Delhi (L626) in the west, Kathmandu Post reported.

India will provide an entry on the L626 route for aircraft flying at the heights between 15,000ft and 24,000ft (low-level flights). This way, Buddha Air and other Nepali private carriers will connect New Delhi from Nepalgunj.

On June 16, the technical team from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (Caan) and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) signed an accord to jointly conduct a safety assessment of these routes.

Nepal's agenda for the discussion included entry or exit points from Janakpur in the eastern, Nepalgunj in the mid-western and Mahendranagar in the far-western regions.

It would take at least a year for the routes to be operational.

Nepal had asked India to open the new cross-border air routes during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kathmandu in 2014.

"Delhi NCR will not experience much activity. In next 24 hours, there can be only sparse rainfall. North Punjab, north Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand will experience rainfall for next two days," Singh added.

No sight of monsoon in Delhi until next week: IMD

The government's intention on the appointment of the next Chief Justice of India (CJI) should not be questioned, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today, noting that when the incumbent names the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court as his successor as per convention, the executive will take a call.

He was responding to a question on whether the government will follow the laid-down conventions and procedures to appoint Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice when incumbent Dipak Misra demits office on October 2.

"The question is imaginary...As far as the appointment of the Chief Justice of India is concerned, the convention is clear...The sitting chief justice names the senior-most judge (of the top court) as his successor. When the name comes to us, we will discuss it," he told a press conference held to highlight the achievements of the Law Ministry in the past four years.

He also said that no one had the "right to question our intention".

Speculations surrounding Justice Gogoi's appointment as the next CJI emerged following the unprecedented press conference of four most-senior judges in January this year when they had criticised Justice Misra over various issues, especially the manner of allocation of cases to certain benches.

Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph addressed the unprecedented press conference, perhaps a first in the history of Indian judiciary.&nbsp

According to the memorandum of procedure, a document which guides the appointment and transfer of judges of the apex court and the 24 high courts, "Appointment to the office of the Chief Justice of India should be of the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court considered fit to hold the office."

Days before the CJI's retirement, the law minister seeks his recommendation for the appointment of his successor.

"Whenever there is any doubt about the fitness of the senior-most Judge to hold the office of the Chief Justice of India, consultation with other Judges...Would be made for appointment of the next Chief Justice of India," the document states.

Responding to another question on the delay in finalising the memorandum of procedure for appointment of judges, Prasad said discussions were on and the Supreme Court and the government would have to finalise the document together.

"Our view (on the MoP) is that the norms of those selected (as judges) have to be mentioned (in the document)," he said.

After the Supreme Court struck down a law through which the government had sought more say in the appointment of judges, the top court and the government have been trying to iron out differences on the MoP.

He said those claiming that the government was not appointing judges should remember that "numbers speak for itself".

The Law Minister pointed out that apart from the stay on judges' appointment in 2014 and 2015 due to the NJAC Act issue, the Centre has appointed 126 judges in 2016 and 117 judges in 2017, and that the appointment of more judges is in the pipeline.&nbsp

"We will surpass our own record of appointing 126 judges in 2016 when this year comes to an end," he said.&nbsp

Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph addressed the unprecedented press conference, perhaps a first in the history of Indian judiciary. According to the memorandum of procedure, a document which guides the appointment and transfer of judges of the apex court and the 24 high courts, "Appointment to the office of the Chief Justice of India should be of the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court considered fit to hold the office." Days before the CJI's retirement, the law minister seeks his recommendation for the appointment of his successor. "Whenever there is any doubt about the fitness of the senior-most Judge to hold the office of the Chief Justice of India, consultation with other Judges...Would be made for appointment of the next Chief Justice of India," the document states. Responding to another question on the delay in finalising the memorandum of procedure for appointment of judges, Prasad said discussions were on and the Supreme Court and the government would have to finalise the document together. "Our view (on the MoP) is that the norms of those selected (as judges) have to be mentioned (in the document)," he said. After the Supreme Court struck down a law through which the government had sought more say in the appointment of judges, the top court and the government have been trying to iron out differences on the MoP. He said those claiming that the government was not appointing judges should remember that "numbers speak for itself". The Law Minister pointed out that apart from the stay on judges' appointment in 2014 and 2015 due to the NJAC Act issue, the Centre has appointed 126 judges in 2016 and 117 judges in 2017, and that the appointment of more judges is in the pipeline. "We will surpass our own record of appointing 126 judges in 2016 when this year comes to an end," he said.

A gunfight broke between the Assam Rifles jawans and suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) in Nagaland's Mon district bordering Myanmar on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;Two Assam Rifles jawans lost their lives, four received injuries in the ambush, ANI reported.&nbsp;

The incident took place when the jawans were on their way to collect water from a river between Aboi-Mohung when they were attacked by the terrorists who were hiding.

Sounds of bomb and guns continued for about half an hour and more reinforcements of security personnel moved towards the site. Nagaland Police also rushed to the spot immediately.

Further details are awaited and an investigation is underway.

Public health was a key area of focus at the NITI Aayog's Governing Council meeting held earlier in the day.

Discussions took place on two major health-related policies, namely Ayushmaan Bharat and Mission Indradhanush, both of which cater to better health facilities for the people.

The National Health Protection Scheme, which aims to provide healthcare facilities for poor and vulnerable families, will open 1.5 lakh health and welfare centers.

Meanwhile, Mission Indradhanush aims to immunise all children under the age of 2 years, as well as all pregnant women, against seven vaccine-preventable diseases.

In a press conference held post the meeting, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar said the states will merge their healthcare policies in the scheme.

"Most states have said that they will merge their policies with Ayushman Bharat. 20 states have already signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding)," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target for India to be Tuberculosis (TB) free by 2025.

He also urged states to focus on developing aspirational blocks.

The Prime Minister has also given a target of covering 45,000 villages under the Gram Swaraj Yojana by August 15.

Gram Swaraj Yojana currently covers 17,000 villages out of a total of 65,000. The scheme constitutes of seven welfare programmes namely Saubhagya, Ujjwal, Ujala, Jan Dhan, Jeevan Jyoti, Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush.

Assembly elections will be held in Madhya Pradesh later this year. The state is being ruled by the BJP for the last 15 years, but the Congress is looking for a comeback. And the man who has been entrusted with the task is former chief minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh. He has been given the charge to manage elections for the party.

Digvijaya Singh has kept a low profile since his six-month-long Narmada yatra which concluded in April this year. He spoke to WION's Kartikeya Sharma on a range of issues, from Madhya Pradesh elections to Rahul Gandhi. He said that Rahul Gandhi has done the right thing by not withdrawing his statement on RSS and assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

WION: What are the issues on which Congress is fighting elections in Madhya Pradesh?

Digvijaya Singh: Large scale corruption, like Vyapam, illegal mining of land and farmer distress are one of the prominent issues. Even administration has collapsed. There is an unrest in rural areas. It has happened because of the faulty procurement policy of the state government. MNREGA funds are not being properly utilised. For example, it was claimed by the state government that they planted 6.5 crore trees around Narmada but during by padyatra (journey on foot) we found that less than 50,000 trees have been planted. Farmers too are not getting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce. Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana (price deficiency payment scheme) of the state government has been an utter failure. It is for this reason that farmer suicides have increased in Madhya Pradesh. 
&nbsp; 
WION: After you, no big leader of significance from the state has come out. Isn't absence of regional leadership the biggest problem for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh?

Digvijaya Singh: There is no dearth of senior political leaders. Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kantilal Bhuria, Arun Yadav, Suresh Pachauri and Arun Singh are there in the state. So, the leadership exists. 
&nbsp; 
WION: But most of them have been doing politics in Delhi. Isn't it?

Digvijaya Singh: Only Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia are in Delhi, the rest are in Madhya Pradesh. 
&nbsp; 
WION: Are the differences between Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia resolved to the party's satisfaction?

Digvijaya Singh: There are no differences as such. Duties for the both have been defined. They are working on it. 
&nbsp; 
WION: Is Congress going to get into an alliance with smaller parties?

Digvijaya Singh: We are looking for an alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) but final call will be taken by the leadership in Delhi.

WION: Am I speaking to the CM candidate of the Congress party?

Digvijaya Singh: Not at all. 
&nbsp; 
WION: Then who is the face of elections in Madhya Pradesh?

Digvijaya Singh: We don't have a face in this election. The face would be decided by the newly-elected MLAs under the direction of Congress president. 
&nbsp; 
WION: How do you expect to bridge the massive vote percentage gap between your party and the BJP?

Digvijaya Singh: The state elections are different from parliamentary elections and cannot be compared. The margin of victory in few of the seats was huge for BJP but in majority, the difference between us and them was not much.

WION: What are your views on the grand alliance? Is it a good idea?

Digvijaya Singh: In 2014 elections, BJP secured 280+ seats with 31 per cent vote. But last three by-elections showed that if all political parties come together to fight BJP on ideological lines, BJP can be simply defeated. So an alliance is required. 
&nbsp; 
WION: Don't you feel than Congress will get further marginalised electorally?

Digvijaya Singh: Politics is an art of possibility and it has to be seen in the present context. As of today, we have to look for like-minded parties. Next elections will be fought on ideological grounds and not on personalities.

WION: Are you saying that it is not going to be Modi vs Rahul?

Digvijaya Singh: Certainly not. The fight will be between the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and MS Golwalkar. 
&nbsp; 
WION: What do you have to say on Rahul Gandhi's statement on RSS and Gandhi's assassination?

Digvijaya Singh: I'm extremely happy that Rahul Gandhi has taken a stand on this issue and has refused to withdraw his comments. What Rahul Gandhi said on Gandhi's assassination and RSS is based on historical facts. He has opened a new debate in the country whether RSS hand existed in the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. What was the relationship between Savarkar and Golwalkar? What was the relationship of Nathuram Godse with RSS and Hindu Mahasabha? After all, the basic ideology is the same and ultimately right wing religious fanaticism led to the murder of Gandhi.

WION: Doesn't this campaign run the risk of differentiating between RSS and larger Hindu sentiments?

Digvijaya Singh: RSS does not represent Hindu sentiments. Hindutva has nothing to do with Hindu religion. They are using religion to create hatred amongst fellow Indians and dividing the society. They are hitting at the idea of India. The religious fanaticism today is hitting at the idea of India. Anyone who opposes this ideology is being eliminated. RSS never accepted Ambedkar's Constitution. RSS does not stand for democracy, therefore we are fighting an ideological battle in the country.

The Bhartiya Janata Party has decided to observe June 25 as 'Black Day' to mark the years of the emergency in India.

The Emergency which was imposed in India for twenty-one months from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977, by the then Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi is known as one of the most controversial periods of Independent Indian history.

During the period the basic rights of people were taken away.

There were restrictions on the press, elections were suspended and a forced mass-sterilization campaign was spearheaded by Sanjay Gandhi.

Ranbir Kapoor on Father’s Day yesterday took over Fox Star Hindi Twitter handle and interacted with fans as a promotional activity for his upcoming film “Sanju” -- a biopic on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt. The plan was to engage fans and answer questions that fans would have asked Ranbir Kapoor if he had his own account on Twitter and other social media sites.

In the question-answer video, Ranbir when asked if he has plans to get married said that he hopes it’s soon. As Ranbir recently confirmed dating “Brahmastra” co-star Alia Bhatt, it seems likely he is talking about marrying Alia.&nbsp;

Ranbir Kapoor just debuted on Twitter and hinted at marrying Alia Bhatt!

Health Minister Satyendra Jain's condition is stable, informed Dr JS Passey on Monday.

"After watching his (Satyendra Jain) ketone report, we decided to admit him to hospital. His blood pressure is normal now. He is having some breathing issues, but stable," Dr Passey, LNJP Hospital told ANI.

He further said that Jain was stable in the afternoon but his ketone level was high and it was in the evening when he complained of headache, nausea and breathing problems.

"Our team of 3 specialists- cardiologist, diabetologist and nephrologist, was checking them (protesting Ministers) morning and evening. Jain was stable in the afternoon but his ketone level was high. In the evening, he complained of headache, nausea, and breathing problems," Dr Passey added.

The Minister was admitted to LNJP Hospital after his health deteriorated during the ongoing 'dharna' at Raj Niwas on late Sunday night.

Jain, along with Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Cabinet minister Gopal Rai was on a sit-in strike at Raj Niwas, the official residence of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal since June 11.

The strike was called for to demand a direction to the IAS officers working under the Delhi administration to end their 'undeclared strike', among other demands.
