The students can appear both the times in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and JEE (Mains) and the best of the two scores would be taken in account for admission, the minister said. NEET is conducted for admissions to medical institutions across the country.

"This will give more chances to students thereby giving adequate opportunity to bring out his/her best and reduce stress which develops due to a single exam being conducted on one day in the year. However, sitting in both the tests will not be compulsory," he said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she is not averse to working with the Congress to oust the BJP government at the centre which is behaving like "a hundred Hitlers".

The TMC president, in an interview to a magazine, said she shares very good relations with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi but has never worked with Congress President Rahul Gandhi, whom she described as "much junior".

To questions about prime ministerial ambitions, Banerjee said she has "no intent". However, she was ambivalent when asked if she was not ruling herself out of the race.

"Instead of preparing for PM candidature, let us work together," she said in the interview to India Today which was posted on its website.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said she has no problems working with anybody as long as their intentions and philosophy are clear.

On her ties with the Congress leadership, Banerjee said, "What I can say about Rajivji or Soniaji I cannot say about Rahul because he is much junior."

"I don't have any problem. My intention will be to unite with all. But it is not my decision alone. It has to be the decision of all the regional parties. I have no problem working with anybody as long as they are efficient, and their intentions, their philosophy, their ideology are clear," she said when asked if she is not averse to dealing with the Congress or having an understanding with the party.

Banerjee, while speaking on the issue of some Opposition parties wanting to forge a federal front without the Congress, noted that some parties don't support the Congress as they have their own regional compulsions.

"I don't blame them. I say let's work against the BJP together. If the Congress is strong and gets more seats in some places, let it take the lead. If the regional parties are together somewhere else, they can be the decision-makers," she said.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi had yesterday held individual meetings with senior party leaders from West Bengal in the national capital to know their views on strengthening the state unit and on the way forward ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year.

A section of Congress leaders has shown an inclination to have a tie-up with the TMC in West Bengal which has a total of 42 Lok Sabha seats. PCC chief Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, however, is not in favour of party having any truck with Mamata Banerjee's party.

The TMC chief expressed confidence that a grand alliance of opposition parties is possible.

On her idea of fielding a common candidate against the BJP, she said, "I am not saying that. If it is done for 75 seats, then the game will be over. If (BSP supremo) Mayawati and (SP chief) Akhilesh (Yadav) work together in Uttar Pradesh, the game will be over. Then after the elections, a common minimum agenda can be prepared. It is a big family, let it be a collective decision."

Asked about the possibility of becoming the prime minister, she said, "Me? It is a very silly question. First I will say I have no intent. I told you, I am a simple person and happy with my job. But we want to help everybody as members of a collective family. Instead of preparing for PM candidature, let us work together."

On whether she is not ruling herself out, she said, "Who am I to rule out anything? I know I am a seasoned politician, a very senior politician now, after my struggles. I have been MP seven times, MLA twice and a CM twice. So I cannot say anything that others may not like".

Banerjee, who has floated the idea of federal front, has been meeting several influential leaders to cobble up a strong opposition alliance against the BJP.

"They are committing atrocities, inflicting torture. Even some BJP people are not supporting them. They are behaving like a hundred Hitlers," she said in a blistering attack on the BJP-led government at the centre.&nbsp;

Andhra Pradesh: TDP claims information by Centre is flawed

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Yasir Reshi issued a statement in solidarity with the views of his colleagues, expressing a desire to find an alternative to the traditional two-family system in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I am in complete conformity with views expressed recently by my colleagues, to find an alternative to traditional two-family system. The state needs respite from the tried, tested and failed two-family power-sharing model," read the statement released by Reshi on Friday.

Reshi also said it is the need of the hour to build a consensus on leadership to counter the challenges the state is facing.

"The need of the hour is to rise to the occasion and collectively, cutting across party lines, build a consensus on a leadership which has the capacity to counter the challenges of governance, law and societal distress in the state," added Reshi.

Earlier this week, PDP leader Imran Raza Ansari lashed out at former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and accused her of obliterating the party by promoting nepotism. He also hinted at exiting the party.

The statements come amid speculations of an alliance between PDP and the Congress party and together, with the support of other smaller parties and independents, they may seek to form a new government in the state.

However, Mehbooba Mufti on July 3 rubbished rumours of PDP-Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. She took to Twitter to clear the air about the possibility of an alliance between the two parties.

On June 19, the Bharatiya Janata Party pulled out of its alliance with Mehbooba Mufti's PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, following which Mufti submitted her resignation as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

PDP leader calls for alternative to two-family system in J&K

Two-time member of Parliament from Assam, Gaurav Gogoi, was recently appointed as in-charge of the West Bengal. It is one of the most tricky states for the Congress which has been in alliance with both Left and TMC in the state. Its cadre is divided&nbsp;on the issue of alliance. Congress has been out of power for 4 decades in the state and like Tripura, BJP is emerging as an alternative. Gaurav Gogoi broke his silence on possible alliance and the state of the Congress Party in the state with WION. Edited&nbsp;excerpts

WION: Why is Congress leaders are split on the issue of alliance with Left and TMC? Why are the views on this issue extreme?

Gaurav Gogoi: Congress has been in alliance with both Left and TMC in the past. Each had its cost and benefit. Our aim is to defeat BJP in 2019 and see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister. All MLAs and MPs met Rahul Gandhi on Friday. It is normal to have divergent views on this issue. He heard all of them out. But I must say that Congress is still a united house in West Bengal.

WION: What is your feedback on the issue of an alliance?

Gaurav Gogoi: It is a work in progress. I have recently taken charge and only visited the state twice. I have been to the southern part. I also need to visit areas where Congress is strong. I’m still meeting workers and district level functionaries to take their feedback. We want to tell them that AICC will only come to a final conclusion on the issue of an alliance once there feedback is on board. The biggest challenge for us is that we have been in the Opposition for so long.

WION: BJP has emerged a challenge in West Bengal. Aren’t you afraid that in long run, West Bengal can go the Tripura way?

Gaurav Gogoi: BJP’s strength in West Bengal stems from its ability to polarise. BJP is ruining the secular composition of the Bengali society. Its campaign is impacting the composite culture of the state. Their only aim is to divide the society. My understanding is that national mood which has become visible through by-election results in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will also manifest itself in West Bengal. Congress is determined to stop BJP both at the Centre and state.

WION: Is there a possibility of Congress going alone?

Gaurav Gogoi: My vision is that there should be a time when Congress should be strong enough to stand alone. We will need to have a particular strategy for it. But I don’t think it is possible in the context of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It is too short a time for Congress to go alone in West Bengal.

WION: How is Congress different from the rest in West Bengal and what are your objectives?

Gaurav Gogo: We want to be a differentiator in terms of leadership and organisation from both Left and TMC. We want to engage with section ranging from intellectuals to Adivasis to farmers. But all these things take time when you have not been in power for a long time.

WION: Despite the fact that many Congress cadres were&nbsp;at the receiving end from TMC during Panchayat election, a section of Congress leaders want a truck with TMC?

Gaurav Gogo: Our cadres were beaten. Senior leaders were also targeted. They were subject to violence. I condemn the violence and state government should have done better. It violates democratic norms.

BJP is ruining the secular composition of the Bengali society. Its campaign is impacting the composite culture of the state. Their only aim is to divide the society.

Two-time member of Parliament from Assam, Gaurav Gogoi, was recently appointed as in-charge of the West Bengal. It is one of the most tricky states for the Congress which has been in alliance with both Left and TMC in the state. Its cadre is divided on the issue of alliance. Congress has been out of power for 4 decades in the state and like Tripura, BJP is emerging as an alternative. Gaurav Gogoi broke his silence on possible alliance and the state of the Congress Party in the state with WION. Edited excerpts WION: Why is Congress leaders are split on the issue of alliance with Left and TMC? Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is likely to appear before Delhi`s Patiala House Court today, as the latter issued summon against him after taking cognizance on the charge-sheet filed by Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The court on Thursday granted <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/sunanda-pushkar-murder-case-delhi-court-grants-interim-bail-to-shashi-tharoor-149147">anticipatory bail to Tharoor</a> in connection with the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Tharoor will have to furnish a bail bond of Rs.1 lakh, and only then he will be granted anticipatory bail by the Delhi court.

"He (Tharoor) has been granted bail on two conditions i.e he cannot travel abroad without prior permission of the court and that he could not tamper with the evidences and witnesses.

He also has to file Rs 1 lakh in the court which it demands," advocate Vikas Pahwa told media in Delhi.

On Wednesday, the court reserved its order on Tharoor`s anticipatory bail plea in connection with the same.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) opposed Tharoor`s anticipatory bail plea.

Earlier on May 24, the Delhi court, which was hearing the case, transferred the matter to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM), Samar Vishal.

On May 14, the Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in the court, in which it named Tharoor as an accused, under sections 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said that he wants to ensure a fair trial in the death case of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

"Today, the Delhi police and counsel for accused said my position is not maintainable. I argued it under section 302 CrPc, I am entitled. The question of maintainability is irrelevant. I am here to see that trial is fair and the Delhi Police does not botch it," Swamy told reporters here.

On Tharoor's counsel questioning his locus standi in the case, Swamy speaking to ANI said, "The arguments made in court were essential that I have no locus standi which is a bland and a cheap argument, anybody can make it at any time."

He also said, "The other thing is that surprisingly the Delhi police counsel, the public prosecutor said this vigilance report has nothing to do with Sunanda's case which is rubbish. It is centrally and totally on how the evidence was destroyed."

Earlier in the day, a Delhi Court granted bail to Shashi Tharoor in connection with the case.

A Patiala House Court Judge had said, "There is no requirement to file a formal bail. Anticipatory bail had been granted by the Session's Court."

The public prosecutor and Tharoor's counsels opposed the applications moved by Swamy seeking the court's nod to allow him to assist the prosecution in the case and a direction to the police to produce the report of vigilance inquiry conducted earlier.

Tharoor's counsels questioned Swamy's locus standi in the case.

The court has set July 26 as the date for the scrutiny of documents and consideration of the application.

On July 5, the court granted anticipatory bail to Tharoor in connection with the case and he was asked to furnish a bail bond of Rs.1 lakh.

However, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had opposed Tharoor's anticipatory bail plea.

On June 5, the Delhi court had issued a summon notice to Tharoor in the connection with the case.

Tharoor, who has been charged for "abetment to suicide and cruelty" in the case, was earlier asked to appear before the court on July 7. The court had also taken cognizance of the charge-sheet filed in the case.

On May 24, the Delhi court, which was hearing the case, transferred the matter to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM), Samar Vishal.

On May 14, the Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in the court, in which it named Tharoor as an accused, under sections 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Tharoor, however, had dismissed the charge sheet filed as "preposterous".

Sunanda was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.

A class 9 girl has alleged that she was raped and blackmailed by her school's principal, two teachers and 16 students in Bihar's Saran district, police said on Saturday.

The principal and a teacher were arrested and four students apprehended for allegedly raping and blackmailing the girl, Superintendent of Police (Saran) Harkishore Rai told.

In her complaint, the girl alleged that she was raped and subsequently blackmailed for seven months by the principal, two teachers and 16 students.

The school is located in Parsagarh village which comes under the jurisdiction of Ekma police station of Saran district, about 35 km from the district headquarters of Chapra.

The SP has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Singh, who visited the school yesterday, and made the arrests.

Raids are being conducted to apprehend the other accused, the SP added.

In the complaint, the victim alleged that she was first raped by some of the students of her school in a toilet there in December 2017, Rai said.

The students also recorded a video of the act and threatened her to make it viral if she reported the matter to anyone, he said.

When the victim complained to the principal about the incident, he convinced and persuaded her not to lodge a complaint as the matter would bring disrepute to her and the family, the SP said.

The principal along with two teachers, later, also raped and blackmailed her, the girl alleged.

The victim told reporters today that she could not muster the courage to lodge a complaint with the police since her father was in jail for several months.

The girl's father was released from jail a couple of days ago and a complaint was lodged yesterday.&nbsp

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the party is now being called a bail gaadi &nbsp;(bullock cart)&nbsp;as several of its leaders are out on bail.

Several leaders who are called stalwarts of the Congress and former ministers are out on bail these days, Modi said at a public rally here, punning on the Hindi term for a bullock cart, according to news agency PTI.

He said people were well aware of the intentions of the Congress party and had started calling it a bail gaadi.

Modi also attacked the Congress for questioning the capabilities of the Army with reference to surgical strike into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2016.&nbsp;

It is unfortunate that political opponents also committed a sin by raising questions on the capabilities of the Army. This has never happened before and the people will not forgive those who are doing this kind of politics, he said.

The prime minister said his government had resolved the issue of one rank, one pension for defence personnel, the report further said.

Modi was addressing a rally of beneficiaries of welfare schemes run by the Centre and the state government in BJP-ruled Rajasthan, where assembly elections are scheduled later this year.

Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP state president Madan Lal Saini and other leaders attended the public meeting at 'Amrudon ka Bagh'.

Modi&nbsp;also praised Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and said that she has changed the work culture in the state.

The Prime Minister said, "Never forget the tough circumstances in which Vasundhara Raje took oath in 2013. When she took the oath, systems were not working properly. She has changed the work culture in the state.

Reflecting on the work undertaken by the Central government, Modi said, "The Central Government and the State Government are working together for the progress of Rajasthan. In our way of working neither the work gets delayed, nor pending, neither they get diverted."

He reiterated that Dalits, farmers, women, backwards castes are at the centre of our schemes.

Prime Minister Modi further pointed out the rich history of Rajasthan and said that there is something special about it.

The Prime Minister's comments comes after he laid the foundation stone for thirteen urban infrastructure projects worth over 21 hundred crore rupees. Around 2.5 lakh beneficiaries gathered in Jaipur to take part in the programme.

Last year Sushant Singh Rajput had kicked off prep to play an astronaut in 'Chanda Mama Door Ke'. The actor had even visited NASA and not to forget the enthusiasm with which he trained in NASA to get into the skin in character. The actor gave him all sweat and soul to it. But unfortunately, all will not be a part of the film anymore.

The film's director Sanjay Puran Singh has no issues with starrer Sushant Rajput and if anything, he only has words of praises for the actor and blames to the reshuffling of dates for it.
&nbsp;Considering the enormity of the project, the makers were taking their own time to create it. The makers of the film had already invested on it by Apollo 13's special effects supervisor, John Paimer to craft at 11-layer spacesuit for Sushant Singh Rajput. It’s not just us but the actor too was highly kicked about the film.

In fact, Sanjay supported Sushant efforts and told Mumbai mirror, &nbsp;“Chanda Mama Door Ke is a mammoth project, something Bollywood has never witnessed on screen before. Sushant gave his sweat and soul to it but back and forth of dates was frustrating for him since his calendar is choc-o-bloc. He’s under tremendous pressure from producers to release his dates for forthcoming projects, which I completely understand.” The director continued to appreciate the knowledge that Sushant has in the field. &nbsp;“Sushant’s passion for space and quantum physics is second to none. He’s also a perfectionist. Whatever he does is with 100 percent of his being, be it acting or direction. I’m certain that he will be as amazing a director as he’s an actor,” he added.

Recently, Sushant bought what he claims to be a piece of lunar land on the far side of the Moon, in a region called the Mare Muscoviense, or the “Sea of Muscovy”. The 32-year-old actor plans to develop his own space movie, according to a release.
