<p>"This alliance was anti-national & unnatural. Our party chief had said, this alliance won't work out. Had they continued with it they would have had to answer in 2019 Lok Sabha election," stated Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut.&nbsp;</p>

<p>1. The BJP maintained that the PDP never responded to the assistance and funds granted by the centre.</p>

<p>2. The worsening state of law and order in the Valley is seen as another reason. According to reports, the Centre called for a ceasefire in the state during the month of Ramzan, a move pressed for by CM Mufti, terror activities increased during the period with the killing of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari and the abduction and murder of Rifleman Aurangzeb as some of the key incidents to prove the same.&nbsp;</p>

<p>3. The BJP also stated increasing radicalisation and lack of development in the state as some of the key reasons for dissatisfaction with the alliance.</p>

<p>4. The Mufti government could not ensure freedom of speech in the state, Madhav stated.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>5. Ram Madhav also mentioned the increasing ideological differences between the two parties.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>What's next?</strong></p>

<p>Jammu and Kashmir now heads for more than a couple of possibilities in days to come. CM Mehbooba Mufti has served her resignation and called for an emergency meeting at 4pm today after which she briefed the media stating that the BJP has betrayed the alliance by pulling out.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Congress has clearly ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the PDP.</p>

<p>"Whatever has happened is good. People of J&K will get some relief. They (BJP) ruined Kashmir & have now pulled out, maximum number of civilian and army men died during these 3 years. That question does not arise (on forming alliance with PDP)," Senior Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad noted.</p>

<p>Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's Omar Abdullah announced that he won't back the PDP. According to reports, he met Governor NN Vohra in Srinagar earlier today.</p>

The devastating floods, heavy rains and landslides have created havoc in several northeastern states in the past week, claiming many lives in Assam, Tripura and&nbspManipur.</p>

<p>According to media reports, a population of 5,48,983 in the districts of Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj have been affected by the flood.&nbsp</p>

<p>Karimganj district is the worst hit with the Kushiara, Barak and Longai rivers maintaining a rising trend. Yesterday, a total of eight tons relief material was provided in the flood-affected areas of Tripura`s Kailashahar and Assam`s Hailakandi area by the Indian Air Force.According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of river Brahmaputra is increasing by 4-5 cms per hour and will soon touch the danger level in the next 2-3days.</p>

<p>The power supply has been also affected in many areas. Educational institutes and government offices also remained closed in many districts.</p>

<p>In lieu of excessive flooding, over one lakh displaced people have taken shelter at temporary relief camps. Around 430 people have been evacuated from Irong, Maibam, Uchiwa, Arapati, Kiyamgei, Achanbigai and Mongjam villages of Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West District of Manipur earlier this week.</p>

<p>The Army has also rescued more than 950 people from Kailashahar, Indiranagar, Fatikroy, Santail, Kumarghat in Tripura. Over 2000 people are living in relief camps at Kailashahar&nbsp</p>

<p>.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while chairing the fourth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, assured the Chief Ministers from flood-affected states that the Centre would provide all assistance to them.&nbsp</p>

Jammu and Kashmir fallout: Omar Abdullah bats for Governor's rule, calls for fresh polls

<p>Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has ruled out an alliance with the Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP in Jammu and Kashmir after BJP announced a pull-out earlier today.</p>

<p>The Central Water Commission and Google have decided to team up to help predict floods in the country. The two signed an agreement on Monday which will allow the Centre to have access to state-of-the-art technologies developed by Google related to artificial intelligence and geo-spatial mapping.</p>

<p>Under the collaborative arrangement, Google will use a high-resolution Digital Elevation Model and vast computational resources to generate flood inundation maps utilising the level forecast input provided by the CWC.</p>

<p>Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari also expressed hope that the collaboration with Google will help in effective flood management in India.</p>

<p>This initiative on flood forecast is likely to meet the much-awaited demand of the inhabitants of the flood-prone areas for inundation warnings with sufficient lead time.</p>

<p>Till 2016, the CWC was disseminating flood levels with maximum lead time of one day. During the flood season of 2017, the CWC resorted to rainfall-based modelling and issued flood advisories on a trial basis with 3 days lead time.</p>

<p>The government has decided not to go ahead with Air India stake sale in an election year and will provide required funds for its operations, a senior official said on Tuesday.</p>

<p>The decision comes less than 3 weeks after the proposed 76 per cent strategic stake sale in debt-laden national carrier failed to attract any bidder.</p>

<p>Air India will very soon get funds from the government for its day to day operations and will even place orders for a couple of aircraft, the government official said.</p>

<p>The decision was taken at the high-level meeting convened by Union Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday. The meeting was attended by Piyush Goyal, who has been temporarily given the charge of finance ministry, Civil Aviation</p>

<p>Minister Suresh Prabhu, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and other senior officials of finance and civil aviation ministries.</p>

<p>"The airline is posting operational profits. None of the flights go empty. With all the cost-efficient mechanism in place, we will continue improving its operational efficiency. There is no need to rush in for disinvestment as of now," the official told PTI.</p>

<p>The government is looking at turning around the company to ensure that it makes profits on overall basis before going in for listing.</p>

<p>"Certain conditions have to be met before listing a company. Once Air India fulfils those, we will go in for an initial public offering and subsequent listing," the source said.</p>

<p>As per Sebi norms, a company has to post profit in previous three financial years before it can list itself in the stock exchanges.</p>

<p>"The focus is on improving operational efficiency. We will continue to boost employee morale, starting from the top level, to better the functioning of the airline. Funds would be provided as and when required," the source added.</p>

<p>The government had originally proposed to offload 76 per cent equity share capital of the national carrier as well as transfer the management control to private players. The buyer would have had to take over Rs 24,000 crore debt or the carrier along with over Rs 8,000 crore of liabilities.</p>

<p>However, the stake sale failed to attract any bidders when the bidding process got completed on May 31.</p>

<p>The decision to withdraw was taken after consulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah, the party's general secretary Ram Madhav announced at a press conference here.</p>

<p>The Congress has clearly ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the PDP. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's Omar Abdullah announced that he won't back the PDP. According to reports, he met Governor NN Vohra in Srinagar a short while ago and called for Governor's rule and fresh polls.</p>

<p>Jammu and Kashmir's outgoing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti lashed out at the BJP today, which broke the alliance with her party in the state earlier today. Addressing a press conference, she said the BJP has betrayed the agenda of the alliance by pulling out of it. "PDP's agenda for the state was the one for boosting reconciliation through the alliance, the BJP betrayed the same," Mufti stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The BJP's move raises the possibility of governor's rule in the volatile state, the eighth time since it was imposed in 1977.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former media baron Peter Mukerjea has finally agreed to divorce his wife and prime accused in the Sheena Bora case Indrani Mukerjea&nbsp, her lawyer announced on Monday.&nbsp</p>

<p>The divorce procedure may take some time as both are in jail, a lawyer representing Indrani Mukerjea in the murder case told reporters outside a Mumbai court.</p>

<p>"We have received a reply through registered post from Peter's lawyer and they have agreed to divorce by mutual consent," she said</p>

<p>On Monday, over a month after she sent him a notice, Peter Mukerjea, 64, consented to divorce his wife, 16 years his junior. Indrani had sent him a notice for an amicable end to their 16-year-old marriage, his second and believed to be her third.</p>

<p>The settlement plan is to divide properties and assets, including properties in Spain and London, and bank fixed deposits and other substantial investments in domestic and foreign banks.</p>

<p>Stating that the marriage had "irretrievably broken down", Ms Indrani had sent a divorce notice to Peter Mukerjea in April this year.</p>

<p>Both Ms Indrani and Ms Peter are facing trial in the murder case of Sheena Bora. Ms Sheena (24), Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship, was allegedly killed in April 2012.</p>

Nick Jonas' ex-girlfriend 'heartbroken' on news of Priyanka Chopra and his alleged affair

<p>The BJP today said that the decision to pull out from the PDP-led government in Jammu and Kashmir is a well-thought one as continuation of the alliance would have been against national interest.</p>

<p>Chief spokesperson of J&K BJP Sunil Sethi said the insistence of the PDP for extension of the period of suspension of operations and soft approach towards militants, Pakistan and separatists were hurting the nationalistic sentiments not only in Jammu and Kashmir but across the country.</p>

<p>"It is well-thought decision in the given circumstances as continuation of the alliance would have been against national interest," he told reporters here.</p>

<p>Sethi said that the BJP has proved to one and all that for it staying in power is not significant when it comes to national interest.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The party has always maintained the policy of 'nation first', he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said Mehbooba Mufti's party had underestimated the resolve of the BJP thinking that the PDP will always have its ways in all matters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A message has been sent to it and all forces inimical to national interest that there is strong resolve of the nation to stay together and be ready for any sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the country, Sethi said.</p>

<p>According to him, now is the time for an all-out war against militants and their supporters and give them no place to hide and run.?</p>

<p>Sethi noted that the BJP joined the government with a firm belief that the coalition will work for the people and provide honest and responsive government.</p>

<p>But it was highly unfortunate that our partner was always against taking strong measures against enemies of the nation.</p>

Rajnath Singh chairs high-level meeting on BJP's PDP pullout

<p>AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at the Bhartiya Janata Party and the PDP after they <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/bjp-pulls-out-of-alliance-with-pdp-in-kashmir-145468">broke the alliance between them in Jammu and Kashmir</a> on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Targetting the BJP he said that the party failed to deliver in the state, provide governance, counter cross-border terrorism and stop attacks on army camps.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that the party did not implement any of the promises and&nbsp;just worked on removing Article 370 from the state.</p>

<p>He said the party broke the alliance after it realised that it was losing ground in J&K.</p>

<p>He also hit out at Mehbooba Mufti saying that he does not have any sympathy for the PDP.</p>

<p>Owaisi said that the alliance between them was similar to an alliance between the North Pole and the South Pole.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Calling it an unfortunate step, he said that it will lead to more repression in the state as the security personnel take orders from the Union of government.</p>

<p>While CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury also attacked the BJP claiming that it&nbsp;did not try to make any efforts to fulfil the promises. He added that the party never initiated any dialogue with separatist.</p>

<p>Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, on the other hand, termed the breaking away of the alliance as a good move.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said, "Whatever has happened is good. People of J&K will get some relief. They (BJP) ruined Kashmir and have now pulled out, maximum number of civilian and army men died during these 3 years. That question does not arise (on forming an alliance with PDP)"</p>

<p>BJP alliance partner Shiv Sena's leader Sanjay Raut said, "This alliance was anti-national and unnatural. Our party chief had said, this alliance won't work out. Had they continued with it they would have had to answer in 2019 Lok Sabha election."</p>

The BJP has pulled out of its alliance with the PDP in Kashmir. Kashmir BJP leaders had "all of a sudden" been called for a meeting with BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday. The announcement that the BJP was pulling out of the alliance was made after the meeting. According to reports, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has submitted her resignation and has called a PDP meeting at 4pm today. She is expected to brief the media at 5pm today.
