Speaking to WION's Palki Sharma Upadhyay, Naqvi said that his party the BJP's commitment is development with dignity, and empowerment without appeasement.

Here's the full transcript of the interview:

WION: When it comes to reports of violence against Muslims, do you think these incidents are happening?

Naqvi: Modi government's track record since 2014 is tremendous. It's commitment towards inclusive development is being fulfilled. Muslims have been the primary beneficiaries of many schemes rolled out by the government. Every other political party wants the Muslim vote but they don't want to do anything for their empowerment.

Out commitment is development with dignity, empowerment without appeasement.

All these reports are fake and fabricated, propaganda of some frustrated people.

WION: Have you ever been discriminated in this country because of being a Muslim?

Naqvi: No. I have never felt this way, right from my college till now. We have tried to end the environment of any sort of discrimination. Ours is the commitment of development without discrimination.

WION: Do you believer that the BJP will ever be the first choice of a Muslim voter?

Naqvi: Yes, I strongly believe so. In 2014, around 12-15 per cent Muslims had voted for the BJP. In 2019 it grew to 25 per cent. This was a major revolutionary change in the mindset of the people. You will see further change in the next elections.

WION: Will triple talaq bill be passed this time?

Naqvi: We hope it gets passed this time. This has nothing to do with Islam, it is something which should come to an end. It is not a good practice, it is not a political issue. Risks are associated with running the government, if you don't take risks, reforms can't happen and without reforms a government cannot perform.

WION: United States, which is traditionally seen as an ally, came out with a report which was critical of your government and its treatment of minorities, your views?

Naqvi: That country should see its own track record when it comes to the minorities. In our country, the constitutional, democratic and religious rights of all minorities are safe and well protected. We don't need any advice from anyone.

We therefore reject such reports.

WION: Global leaders are of the view that religious minorities in Pakistan are suffering, what would you say?

Naqvi: At the time of partition, 22-23 per cent minorities existed in Pakistan, which is not even two per cent now. This is a cause of worry. Ours have grown from 8 to around 18-20 per cent as people say. This is the difference which we need to understand. This country is secular because the majority of people here, the major community has the DNA of secularism and unity.

WION: Your thoughts on China’s detaining ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims in Xinjiang?

The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday said that The World Bank has given positive indications towards compensating the dropped $300 million loan for developing capital city of Amaravati and moving the aid to other important sectors.

According to a press note released by the Chief Minister's office on Sunday, "The World Bank has given enough indications pointing at compensating the dropped $300 million loan for the capital city to other sectors and there is every possibility of an increase in the quantum of aid."

"The Washington-based bank is now not averse to extend the loan to Andhra Pradesh Government, with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the helm, should it mention its priorities," it added.

The statement from the Andhra Pradesh government came days after the World Bank dropped the multi-crore Amaravati infrastructure project citing non-compliance of its policies.

The Chief Minister's office also slammed the previous Chandrababu Naidu government for alleged corrupt practices which forced the World Bank to drop out of the Amaravati development project.

"The main reasons behind the World Bank backing out of the Amaravati Capital City project were considered to be rampant corruption besides flouting of various socio-economic norms. The TDP government has invited tenders for infrastructure development even before the World Bank loan details were finalised," the release noted.

It added that the World Bank team that toured the proposed city area region in 2017 found many irregularities in the tender process. The release further read, "The team has found numerous irregularities in land pooling, utilisation of verdant agriculture land for other purposes, agriculture workers losing livelihood, serious environmental violations, the plan of the new proposed capital affecting the course of Krishna river and other issues."

ISRO has successfully completed the launch rehearsal of the Chandrayaan-2 mission.

The launch is slated for July 22."Chandrayaan-2 will be launched on Monday afternoon. All the preparatory works regarding the launch have been completed. Technical snags that developed in the first attempt have been rectified," Sivan told reporters.

"The 20-hour countdown will begin at 6.43 pm today. It will be launched at 2.43 pm tomorrow. All arrangements are going well," he added.

He said that Chandrayaan-2 will be landing on the moon very slowly. "It will land on the South Pole. There is a lot of scientific testing to be done regarding the mission. Scientists around the world are looking forward to the launch," said Sivan.

Speaking to ANI in New Delhi, Gauhar Raza, a retired chief scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), said, "ISRO took a very responsible step by calling off the launch on July 15 after the scientists discovered an anomaly in the helium tank."

Gauhar believes that the scientists stay under pressure till the last moment while launching any complex mission.

"It is their responsibility to take a correct decision even under immense pressure," he added.

Ravi Gupta, a retired scientist from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), told ANI, "I am very confident that the mission is going to be successful. India will reach the moon and beyond. We do face problems in such a complex mission, but the success lies in timely identification of any abnormality and taking the corrective steps accordingly."

"I believe that not only our scientists but our industry is also going to a higher level, which will eventually help our economy to rise. Our industry is the backbone of our economy. That is why this mission is intrinsic for our country," he said.

"Chandrayaan-2 is an indigenous mission. It has been fully designed and developed by our scientists. The software for the Chandrayaan-2 mission has also been created by our scientists," informed Ravi.

PK Ghosh, also a space scientist, told ANI, "There have been a series of delays due to technical snags but I believe that scientists took a correct decision by delaying the last launch as nobody wants to see this mission getting failed. All the tests are completed. I believe the launch will successfully take place on Monday."

The Chandrayaan-2 was scheduled to be launched on July 15. However, less than an hour before the launch, the mission was aborted after a technical snag was detected.

Chandrayaan-2 will explore a region of Moon where no mission has ever set foot. The spacecraft consists of an orbiter, a lander, and a rover together referred to as "composite body."

The probe's total mass is 3.8 ton and is expected to land on the Moon's south polar region on September 6 or 7 this year.It will be the first Indian expedition to attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface.

This mission will make India the fourth country after the US, Russia, and China to carry out a soft landing on Moon.

The Narendra Modi government has completed 50 days in its second stint. And this period has been hectic as well as transformative for the country.

Developments on the domestic front, the introduction of welfare schemes for farmers and a healthy environment for start-ups, traders and industry - every aspect of India's national life has seen developments happen.

From surgical strike against corruption in the form of removal of tainted bureaucrats to clean-up of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, the Modi government has again shown its commitment and resolve to work tirelessly for the welfare of the country.

The Budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this month laid a roadmap for a US $5 trillion economy as well as for doubling farmer income. During 2019-20 to 2021-22, 1.95 crore houses are proposed to be provided to eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-Rural). By 2022, the 75th year of India's Independence, the government will look to ensure that every single rural family has electricity and a clean cooking gas connection.

The Budget also gave provisions for electric vehicles and of the mission of taking electricity and cooking gas to every home.

When it comes to creating a business-friendly climate, the government has made corporate tax rate 25 per cent for companies with an annual turnover up to Rs 400 crore. This threshold used to be Rs 250 crore earlier. This will cover 99.3% of all companies. The government is also to expedite streamlining multiple labour laws into a set of four labour codes.

Zero Budget Farming will be promoted, and 10,000 new Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) will be formed. These FPOs will help small and marginal farmers team up to get lower rates for inputs and sell produce at higher rates.

When it comes to the pro-people decisions taken by the government in the first 50 days of its second stint, the Centre has introduced labour reforms, enacted strong laws against frauds who dupe the poor, introduced death penalty for child sexual assault, and offered higher MSP for Kharif crops among other measures.

PM Modi has already made waves on the international arena as well. BIMSTEC leaders arrived to witness his swearing-in. PM Modi was one of the most sought-after leaders for pull-aside meetings in the recent G-20 Summit. He visited Sri Lanka and Maldives and showed his strong belief in 'Neighbourhood First' policy.

He strongly articulated India's position against terror at the SCO Summit and also led the world in celebrating International Yoga Day.

The standoff between Congress eastern Uttar Pradesh general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Uttar Pradesh government remains unresolved. Gandhi was detained Friday for trying to meet victims of a civil dispute which resulted in 10 deaths in Sonbhadra district.

Priyanka was denied permission to visit the district and subsequently detained in Mirzapur district at Chunnar guest house. The guest house did not have a functional water and electricity connection, but that did not deter Priyanka Gandhi who stayed put at the guest house.

Two relatives of victims met Gandhi on Saturday while 15 others were not allowed to meet the Congress leader

''Two relatives of victims have come here to meet me, 15 others are not being allowed to meet me,'' she was quoted as saying.

Many leaders in BJP feel that state unit overplayed its hand by stopping Priyanka which would have been a low- profile visit. Priyanka Gandhi is insisting that she should be allowed to meet the families of all victims.

To raise the morale of the cadres, senior leaders from the Congress have also rushed to Varanasi. Rahul Gandhi is abroad, and Priyanka has been able to provide a much-required fillip to the congress party.

The whole episode has given hope to down and out congress party.

It seems Maryam Nawaz has found an unusual way to put forward her demand for the release of her father Nawaz Sharif from jail.

Recently, she was spotted wearing a black kurta with a monochrome picture of her father along with a message 'Free Nawaz Sharif'. She completed her look with black footwear.

This unusual way may be new for some but Maryam from many months has been consistent in her effort to highlight the issue of her father.

Maryam's Twitter display picture also shows a graphic poster demanding freedom for her father.

The 69-year-old former Prime Minister Nawaz is currently serving his term at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam on Tuesday announced nationwide protests across Pakistan aimed at demanding justice for jailed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, among other things.

"Insha' Allah I shall be leading protest rallies across Pak that will not only ask for justice for Nawaz Sharif but demand rule of law, freedom of expression, end to the manipulation of the entire system to punish public representatives, stealing people's mandate, the imposition of SELECTED," she had tweeted.

She further called on all Pakistanis who wish to live in a "free, democratic and just Pakistan" to join.

This comes after the PML-N Vice President released "proof" which purportedly showed that the there was a lack of evidence in convicting Nawaz in the Al Azizia Steel Mills case, due to which the former PM is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The video caused a furore in Pakistan as it showed accountability judge Arshad Malik -- who convicted Nawaz -- making the alleged revelation.

The video has since been dismissed by all quarters, including Malik himself, who labelled the video to be fake.

He also claimed that Maryam had tried to bribe him during the former premier's trial.

Representatives of the Imran Khan-led PTI government had previously said that an investigation would be launched to gauge the authenticity of the tape.

Meanwhile, an accountability court on Friday rejected a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) application seeking legal proceeding again Maryam in a case filed against her using a bogus trust deed in the Avenfield properties case.

He shared the resignation letter on Twitter addressed to former Congress party president Rahul Gandhi and said that he "submitted this on June 10, 2019".

"My letter to the Congress President Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, submitted on 10 June 2019," he said in a tweet.

This triggered a row of suspense on why it was not sent to Amarinder Singh in the past one month.

Amrinder Singh and Sidhu have been at loggerheads since his controversial visit to Pakistan for the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan where he had hugged the Army Chief leading to a huge controversy.

On June 6, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh stripped Sidhu of the local Government and Tourism and Cultural Affairs Departments and allotted him the Power and New and Renewable Energy Portfolio.

"I cannot be taken for granted. I have been a performer throughout in 40 years of my life be it international cricket, or world-class commentary with Geoffrey Boycott, TV shows or motivational talks," Sidhu had told reporters after being stripped of the key portfolios.

The cricketer-turned-politician announced his resignation from the post of Punjab Cabinet minister on July 14. "My department is being singled out publicly. I always regard him as my elder I always listen to him. But it hurts and now where is the collective responsibility? He (Amarinder) could have called me and said anything he wanted to say," Sidhu had added.

India is facing the unintended consequence of Iran's tiff with the United Kingdom as New Delhi tries for early release of its citizens from the seized UK oil tanker Stena Impero.

India has 18 of its citizens on the tanker along with nationals of other countries.

Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement, said, "Our Mission is in touch with the Government of Iran to secure the early release and repatriation of Indian nationals."

The tanker was seized by Iranian authorities on Friday for "failing to respect international maritime rules", the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC said in a statement.

A British High Commission spokesperson, reacting to WION's question on the safety of Indians on the seized tanker said, "We remain deeply concerned about Iran's actions, and have advised UK shipping to stay out of the area for an interim period."

“We remain in close contact with our international partners and there will be further meetings over the weekend," he added.

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt spoke to the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and "expressed extreme disappointment" on the seizing of the tanker.

"Just spoke to ... Zarif and expressed extreme disappointment that having assured me last Saturday Iran wanted to de-escalate situation, they have behaved in the opposite way," he tweeted on Saturday.

"This has to be about actions not words if we are to find a way through," Hunt added. "British shipping must and will be protected."

The detained British-flagged tanker Stena Impero must go through a legal process because it violated maritime regulations, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told British Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt in a phone call on Saturday, the Iranian news agency ISNA reported.

Indians were also present on Iranian ship seized by the UK off the coast of Gibraltar. The Indian authorities have been given consular access to them, with the MEA saying "due process of law will continue."

It is alleged by the authorities in Gibraltar that the Iranian oil tanker Grace 1 was headed to Syria with oil that would have violated sanctions, a charge that Tehran denies. Gibraltar is a British Territory in Europe, surrounded by Spain.
