The best advice Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti can give his players as they prepare to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final is to enjoy the moment, he said on Monday. Heading into his eighth Champions League final, his sixth as a manager and third with Real who are bidding for a record-extending 15th European crown and sixth in 10 years, the 64-year-old Ancelotti believes his players have the experience to cope with the emotions.

"It is a week to enjoy. The challenge, the opponent... We're going to enjoy it until Friday. Reaching a final is always a success," the Italian told a news conference on Monday. "We have a lot of confidence. As for being favourites, we don't think about that. We have to play against a team that has done very well in eliminating PSG... Atletico Madrid. They have shown commitment and attitude."

Known for his calmness and tactical acumen, Ancelotti is one of the most successful coaches in the world, the first manager to win titles in each of Europe's top five leagues. When he was lured back to Madrid for a second spell in 2021 following the departure of Zinedine Zidane, he knew his only mission was to increase Real's trophy haul.

Having won the Champions League twice as AC Milan manager and with Real in 2014, the Spaniards' "Decima" (10th) European crown, before being sacked 12 months later, Ancelotti led the Spanish giants to their 14th title in 2022.

They knocked out Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Manchester City to reach the final in Paris where they beat Liverpool 1-0. After securing the LaLiga title with four games to spare, Ancelotti has been able to rest players.

"The build-up to the big game is always the same, the excitement to be a protagonist in the most important match of the season," Ancelotti said. "This is my ninth final if I count those as a player. The three as a player and the sixth as a coach. It's always the same week: happiness and then worry. The fear will come, but before it does, I'm going to enjoy it. "The cold sweat comes on Saturday afternoon. It's quite normal, it comes every match and I have experience. I have a lot of confidence in my team. They are in Champions League mode."

Ancelotti kept his cards close to his chest over who will be Real's goalkeeper at Wembley. Thibaut Courtois has started four games since returning from a serious knee injury but Andriy Lunin was Real's hero when they beat Manchester City on penalties to reach the semis. "Both deserve to play in the final. Lunin has done spectacularly and Courtois, we all know the quality he has," Ancelotti said.

Pep Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season next year, according to media reports. Guardiola, who recently secured a fourth consecutive Premier League title with City is in the final year of his managerial contract and does not seem inclined to sign an extension. Quizzed during the open bus parade for the historic four-peat, Guardiola was asked: "At the start of next season, you will be the Premier League's longest-serving manager. Would you just stay forever, please? Can we just get you to stay forever?" Guardiola, caught off guard by the question, responded in a rather awkward manner: "Forever?! [laughs]" "Even myself, I couldn't expect to stay here eight years but everything goes well. Step-by-step we are here. It looks routine but it's not routine," added Guardiola. The Spanish manager, however, promised to see out his contract and said City will bounce back next season from their FA Cup final disappointment. "We will be back next season," Guardiola said. “The FA Cup, we will take it.” According to reports, the upper management at the club has already started to compile a list of potential successors to Guardiola who can carry his mantle. Also read | Premier League: Manchester City become first team to claim four consecutive titles with win over West Ham 'Closer to leaving' Notably, Sunday (May 26) was not the first instance when Guardiola has given an ambiguous answer regarding his future at City. After winning the title last week, Guardiola was asked the same question where in replied that he was closer to leaving than staying. "The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying. We have talked with the club and my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But after eight or nine years, we will see," said Guardiola. "I have a contract, I'm still here. Some of the moments I'm a bit tired, but some of the moments I love and we are here winning games, looking good with new players." Having previously coached the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, it is highly likely that Guardiola would opt for a sabbatical like his Liverpool compatriot, Jurgen Klopp. The German manager said goodbye to Anfield after nine successful seasons at the club and forging a hyper-competitive rivalry with Guardiola. Pep Guardiola to depart Manchester City at the end of season: Reports

Southampton clinched promotion back to the Premier League after a one-year exile as Adam Armstrong sealed a 1-0 win against Leeds in the Championship play-off final on Sunday.

Armstrong's first-half strike at Wembley ensured Southampton erased the bitter taste of last year's relegation from the top-flight with an immediate return.

Victory in football's single richest match will give Southampton an estimated £140 million ($178 million) windfall due to the increases in matchday, broadcast and commercial revenue for clubs who reach the Premier League.

Financial experts Deloitte say Southampton could eventually bank £305 million if they avoid relegation next season.

While the cash prize is a huge bonus, it is the prestige of competing with Manchester City and Arsenal, rather than second-tier minnows like Plymouth and Oxford, that fuelled Southampton's hunger to regain their Premier League status after a year in purgatory.

Southampton, whose only major honour is the 1976 FA Cup, had spent 11 years in the Premier League prior to their relegation.

They will hope this success, celebrated by over 35,000 of their fans at Wembley, is the prelude to another lengthy spell among the elite.

In their first ever play-off final, Southampton made it three wins over Leeds this term despite finishing three points behind the Elland Road club in the regular season.

Saints boss Russell Martin has become widely admired for his purist passing principles and this was the 38-year-old's crowning glory.

Martin was managing in League One with Milton Keynes Dons just three years ago, but he has transformed Southampton in his first season in charge, to such an extent that they boasted more possession than any team in Europe's top five leagues this season.

Securing promotion at Leeds boss Daniel Farke's expense was a sweet moment for Martin after his Norwich contract was terminated by the German during their time together at Carrow Road in 2018.

Defeat was a bitter blow for Farke and Leeds, who were relegated alongside Southampton last season.

Will Smallbone threatened to put Southampton ahead with a 30-yard free-kick that was clawed away by Illan Meslier.

It was a warning Leeds failed to heed as Southampton snatched the lead with a clinical raid in the 24th minute.

Armstrong had scored twice in the play-off semi-final win over West Brom and the striker showcased his predatory instincts again with his 24th goal this season.

Cleverly eluding the Leeds offside trap with a well-timed run, Armstrong met Smallbone's pass with a superb strike into the far corner from 12 yards.

Leeds were rocked and Armstrong nearly struck again from another instinctive shot from Smallbone's quick free-kick, but this time Meslier was able to parry his close-range effort.

Early in the second half, Leeds defender Joe Rodon embarked on a rampaging run that looked certain to end in a goal until Taylor Harwood-Bellis threw himself into a last-ditch block.

Leeds pushed hard for an equaliser, but Daniel James' blast cannoned back off the bar before the winger was denied by Alex McCarthy's stoppage-time save as Southampton celebrated their return to the promised land.

Former Manchester United player-turned-pundit, Roy Keane, has admitted that he was wrong about Bruno Fernandes after the latter put in an excellent shift during the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday (May 25). Keane said Fernandes led from the front as the captain as his leadership rubbed on the other United players.

United played the best they have in the entire season and managed to keep Premier League winners quiet for major parts of the game.

"It was a proper United performance. They were dogged, they sat in and they played some good stuff going forward. They scored two goals. They had a bit of confidence coming into the game with the last couple of results against Newcastle and Brighton."

Fernandes was instrumental in United stopping the City juggernaut. He even assisted the second goal to Kobbie Mainoo by placing the ball elegantly at the youngster's feet inside the penalty box.

"I have been critical of Bruno over the years but I am happy to be proved wrong because his leadership today was outstanding. We always mention how brilliant he is as a player. I am pleased for the fans. It’s been a frustrating few months and we are quick to criticise. Manchester City didn’t have a great day today but it’s about Manchester United today. We have to enjoy these moments. Wembley is only good if you win," said Keane.

‘Happy to be’: Man United legend admits he was ‘wrong’ about Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has addressed rumours of his departure from the club after he lifted the FA Cup on Saturday (May 25) at Wembley Stadium. Ten Hag is rumoured to get sacked from his Manchester United managerial role after the club endured a tough season in his second spell. Manchester United beat arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final 2-1 and clinched their 13th title in the historic tournament.

Ten Hag addresses rumours

"Two trophies in two years is not bad, three finals in two years is not bad," Ten Hag told a postmatch news conference Saturday.

"If they don't want me, then I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do."

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the first half were enough for United to exact revenge on Manchester City having lost in the FA Cup final in 2023. Although Man City pulled one goal back late in the contest, there was no joy for Pep Guardiola’s men as they finished second-best.

The win for United also saw Erik ten Hag ended his second season with a trophy. He lifted the League Cup in his first season and became only the second United manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era to win two major trophies.

However, an early exit from the Champions League and an eighth-place finish in the Premier League were the big lows for United during the 2023-24 season. The club was also in danger of missing out on European football had they not won the FA Cup. As things stand, United’s win in the FA Cup will see them qualify for the Europa League along with Tottenham Hotspur while Chelsea will compete in the UEFA Conference League. Newcastle United will miss out on European football despite finishing seventh in the Premier League.

While the FA Cup win might have eased the pressure on Ten Hag, it is still likely that he could face the sack with the club hierarchy already on a hunt for a new manager.

Manchester United outplay arch-rivals City to clinch 13th FA Cup title at Wembley

It was a chaotic start in the FA Cup final for Premier League champions Manchester City after they gifted the opening goal to arch-rivals Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. Playing in a back-to-back all-Manchester affair, Man City’s German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega was at fault for the opening goal in the 30th minute as United forward Alejandro Garnacho pounced to open the scoring. The shocking lead left all Man City fans in disarray while United enjoyed the moment.

Former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney was appointed as the new manager of Championship side Plymouth on Saturday.

A move to Argyle is the fourth managerial role of Rooney's coaching career, which has so far failed to live up to his stellar playing days.

"Taking this role at Plymouth Argyle feels like the perfect next step in my career," said Rooney in a club statement.

"This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting project. I look forward to helping to build a squad of players to play expansive football – and to entertain the Green Army."

The 38-year-old was sacked after just 83 days in charge of Birmingham earlier this year.

Rooney won just two of his 15 matches in charge of the Blues, which contributed to their relegation to League One.

He previously had a short spell with former club DC United in Major League Soccer.

Manchester United vs Manchester City, FA Cup final: All you need to know

Premier League (PL) Manchester United's goalkeeper Andre Onana says that he is not at the club to 'back' manager Erik Ten Hag. The comments come at a time when the Dutch manager is facing piercing scrutiny over United's worst-ever finish in the Premier League.

Manchester United finished eighth on the PL points table with only 18 wins in 38 games to go with six draws and 14 losses.

"He's a good guy, a good coach," Onana said, ahead of United's FA Cup final on Saturday, May 25 against the local rivals Manchester City.

"Tactically he's very good, and he showed it last season. I was not here last season and they got top four. This season a lot of things happened. I'm not here to back him. He is big enough to back himself, but he is a really good guy, he is a positive coach and tactically he's good."

Manchester United faced a lot of flak this season for poor performances both away and at home and Onana said injuries played a role in that.

"If [Ten Hag] had all his squad, it would probably be different," Onana said.

"This season is difficult for him, for us, for the club, for the fans because it is frustrating for the fans when they are coming away and how we are losing, it is difficult." He added.

One of the reasons for United's struggle this season is the form of English forward Marcus Rashford, who managed just eight goals this season compared to 30 last year.

Speaking on his struggles, Onana said: "He's a bad player? So last season he was good, this season he is bad? No. It is just a moment. You can have a bad season, you can have a bad start. But the most important thing is how you end, and Rashy, for me, is one of the best players in the world."

France striker Olivier Giroud intends to retire from international football after next month's European Championship, saying he wants to make sure he does not play "one season too many". Giroud, who left AC Milan to join American Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC earlier this month, has made 131 appearances for France and was a key part of their World Cup-winning squad in 2018.

With 57 goals, the 37-year-old is the men's national team's all-time leading goalscorer, having overtaken Thierry Henry during the 2022 World Cup. "To be honest, this will be my last competition with Les Bleus. Obviously, I'm going to miss it a lot," Giroud told L'Equipe in an interview published on Thursday.

"But I think the French team will be over after the Euro. We need to make way for the youngsters. You also have to be careful not to have one season too many. You have to find the right balance... Erik ten Hag’s tenure as manager of Manchester United could come to an end on Saturday (May 25) as the Red Devils prepare to face arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Ten Hag, led United to their worst finish in the Premier League era last Sunday after they were condemned to eighth place. Now according to reports from several media outlets in the United Kingdom, Saturday’s FA Cup final against City could be the last straw for him.

Ten Hag to be sacked after the FA Cup final?

While nothing is official yet, United minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly decided to part ways with Ten Hag. This comes after the club endured tough times throughout the season in different competitions. United finished the season with a negative Goal Difference (GD) for the first time in the Premier League era, which was a new low for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag’s approach to play has attracted criticism from the board, which had a major overhaul in the last few months.

Another factor suggested in Ten Hag getting sacked is the managers Marcus Rashford going off the radar in recent months and Jadon Sancho forced to leave the club on loan.

United’s form in the Champions League was also a worry after the club finished bottom of their group standings and failed to retain a place in Europe for the second half of the season. If the club fails to win the FA Cup, they will be without European football for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Reports also suggest United have already lined up a three-man shortlist to succeed Ten Hag, with former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel a clear favourite. Former academy coach and childhood United fan Kieran McKenna is also a priority name for United if they fail in pursuit of Tuchel.

Mauricio Pochettino, who recently resigned at Chelsea, also has admirers at the club and was close to being appointed as the manager in 2022 before Ten Hag got the job.

Barcelona sack head coach Xavi Hernandez for comments over financial situation; Hansi Flick likely to succeed

Stefano Pioli has been sacked as head coach of AC Milan two years after guiding them to the Serie A title, the Italian giants announced on Friday.

AC Milan said in a statement that Pioli, who was under contract until 2025, "will be departing after the end of the current season, after having been in charge of the First Team since October 2019".

The 58-year-old will take his place in the dugout for Milan for the last time on Saturday in the final Serie A match of their campaign against relegated Salernitana.

They will finish second this season but way behind city rivals Inter, who to rub salt into the wounds clinched the title by beating Pioli's team 2-1 at the end of April.

Pioli was hailed a hero in 2022 after delivering the once dominant force in Italian football their first league title since 2011.

He also guided them to last season's Champions League semi-finals -- the first time they had gone that far since the 2006-2007 campaign -- where they lost to Inter.

However, Pioli's fate was sealed by the failure to mount a serious title challenge to Inter this season as well as an early exit from the Champions League and being subsequently knocked out of the Europa League by Serie A rivals AS Roma.

The fans showed their displeasure at the underwhelming campaign when Milan played Genoa at the San Siro earlier this month.

They unfurled banners demanding improvements to the team, while the hardcore ultras stayed silent in protest throughout the 3-3 draw.

The entire Curva Sud section of the San Siro, which is where the ultras stand and holds thousands of supporters, emptied a quarter of an hour before the final whistle.

According to reports in the Italian media, Paulo Fonseca, the Portuguese coach who has been in charge of French club Lille for the last two seasons, is in line to take over.

The Milan board paid a warm tribute in the farewell statement to 58-year-old Italian Pioli.

"AC Milan extends heartfelt thanks to Stefano Pioli and his entire staff for... securing an unforgettable League title and re-establishing AC Milan's consistent presence in the top European competition," read the statement.

"Stefano's professionalism and human touch have significantly contributed to the growth of the squad, embodying the Club's core values from day one."

Pioli, who numbers Lazio and Inter among the clubs he has formerly managed, thanked the club and praised the "unwavering dedication" of its supporters.

Stefano Pioli expressed his gratitude to AC Milan "for the opportunity to be part of the history of this glorious Club," read the statement.

FA Cup Final: Harry Maguire to miss Manchester City clash with muscle issue as United face selection dilemma

The Football Association (FA) of England charged Lucas Paquetá with betting rule breaches on Thursday (May 23), making the West Ham United midfielder the latest player to join the list. Paquetá, who is a reported target for Manchester City, is accused of influencing the progress and conduct of matches played for West Ham where he has deliberately picked cards from the referees. While the FA has not commented on the punishment yet, Paquetá could be banned from football activities if found guilty by the commission and has a deadline of June 3 to respond.

Paquetá faces FA Charges

The FA charges state that Paquetá tried to "influence the progress, conduct, or any other aspect of, or occurrence in these matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market in order for one or more persons to profit from betting."

According to FA, Paquetá has been under suspicion for three matches during the 2022-23 season of the Premier League.

The games were against Leicester City on 12 November 2022, Aston Villa on 12 March 2023, Leeds United on 21 May 2023 and AFC Bournemouth on 12 August 2023.

The midfielder, who has been a hot property in the Premier League for the last few seasons, is a reported target for Manchester City. He came close to a move to the Etihad Stadium last summer, but City cooled their interest in the player. The latest accusations could see the player once again miss out on a big move as teams are unlikely to invest in players that could be banned for a considerable time.

Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United and Ivan Toney of Brentford are the recent examples of players facing such bans.

Tonali was found guilty in betting charges during his time at AC Milan and has been banned for nine months from all football activities which will see him miss the Euro 2024 with Italy.

On the flip side, Toney was banned for nine months which saw him miss the start of the 2023-24 season and only returned to play in January.

Paquetá faces FA Charges The FA charges state that Paquetá tried to "influence the progress, conduct, or any other aspect of, or occurrence in these matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market in order for one or more persons to profit from betting." According to FA, Paquetá has been under suspicion for three matches during the 2022-23 season of the Premier League. The games were against Leicester City on 12 November 2022, Aston Villa on 12 March 2023, Leeds United on 21 May 2023 and AFC Bournemouth on 12 August 2023.

Gianluca Scamacca has played his way into Italy's provisional squad for Euro 2024 after a phenomenal end to the season, as coach Luciano Spalletti announced on Thursday his provisional squad for Germany.

Striker Scamacca was picked by Spalletti after scoring 11 goals and setting up four more in all competitions since the start of March, helping fire Atalanta to their historic Europa League triumph on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old had been dropped for Italy's March friendlies with Venezuela and Ecuador by Spalletti who railed against footballers "playing on the PlayStation until four in the morning", a comment widely interpreted as being directed at Scamacca.

Spalletti has selected the in-form Scamacca in an attempt to resolve Italy's long-standing problem of finding reliable strikers.

Inconsistent Ciro Immobile -- one of the pivotal figures in Italy's Euro triumph three years ago -- has been dropped.

Should Scamacca lead the line for Italy he will play alongside Juventus star Federico Chiesa, whose teammate Nicolo Fagioli is a surprise inclusion among the midfielders after missing almost the entire season.

Fagioli made his first Juventus appearance since October on Monday following his seven-month ban for gambling on football matches.

The betting scandal cost Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali his place on the plane for the Euro, which starts on June 14.

Fagioli is one of a number of younger players who have replaced veterans of the last Euro victory like former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti who moved to Al-Arabi in Qatar last summer.

Euro 2024: Atalanta star Gianluca Scamacca picked in Italian squad; Ciro Immobile dropped

Ademola Lookman scored a stunning hat-trick as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Europa League final on Wednesday to win just the second major trophy in their 117-year history and end the German champions' remarkable unbeaten streak.

Lookman, who struggled to establish himself in the English Premier League with Everton, Fulham and Leicester City before reviving his career in Italy under Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, struck twice inside the first 26 minutes before sealing the win 15 minutes from fulltime.

The victory ended Gasperini's own two-decade long pursuit of major silverware as his side totally outplayed Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen - or 'Neverlusen' as they had been dubbed after going an incredible 51 games unbeaten.

But just as they did against Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and three-times finalists Olympique de Marseille in the previous two rounds, Atalanta didn't give their opponents a sniff to mark their first European final with a famous victory.

"We needed to be attacking, it was not enough just to defend. We know these teams are great at attacking. Everyone was extraordinary," Gasperini told Sky Sports Italia, referring to the teams his side beat to become the first Italian winners of the competition since Parma 25 years ago.

"The way we did it was the most important thing, we deserved it without a shadow of a doubt against such a strong team. Winning the Europa League is an extraordinary achievement."

Leverkusen started the game looking decidedly unsure of themselves and some uncharacteristically sloppy play handed the first chance of the game to Gianluca Scamacca, who didn't get enough on his header from a fine Matteo Ruggeri cross.

It was an early warning shot and the purposeful Italians struck within minutes when Davide Zappacosta was allowed far too much space down the right before Lookman beat a flatfooted Exequiel Palacios to the cut back to stroke home the opener.

Lookman was mobbed by his team mates and substitutes who were in dreamland 14 minutes later.

Another Leverkusen error gifted possession to the Nigeria forward, who skipped past one defender and curled a beautiful right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner from just outside the box.

The stunned Germans showed brief flashes of how quickly they can turn it on in attack but little came of it and it was Charles De Ketelaere who came closest on the break as Atalanta did not show a shred of debut final nerves nor any effects from the absence of injured captain Marten de Roon.

Leverkusen swapped defender Josip Stanisic for top scorer Victor Boniface at halftime but it changed little as both sets of travelling fans continued to create the kind of Aviva Stadium noise matched only by some of the Irish rugby teams' famous wins or memorable international soccer nights of years gone by.

Leverkusen had only failed to score once during the run that featured 42 wins in all competitions and 17 goals scored in or after the 90th minute, but there was no such comeback on Wednesday against the resolute Atalanta backline.

"The normality is not to get defeated in the 52nd game. Normally it happens much earlier in the season. It's been quite exceptional what we have achieved and we have to be really proud," Alonso told a news conference. "We were missing many things for sure. It's very demanding to play against Atalanta, a lot of dual situations, very physical... It happens, it's football, today wasn't our day. They were better."

Lookman, who completed his hat trick with another stunning strike into the top corner, this time with his left foot, became the sixth person to score three goals in a major European final and first since Jupp Heynckes' for Borussia Moenchengladbach in the 1975 UEFA Cup.

He was flung into the air by his team mates when the final whistle blew and the Bergamo club ended the 61-year wait since their 1963 Italian Cup triumph.

"It's one of the best nights of my life," Lookman, who cradled the matchball as he collected his winners' medal, told TNT Sports. "It was an amazing performance from the team. We did it... We made history tonight."

Bayern Munich are close to signing Vincent Kompany as the new manager to replace outgoing Thomas Tuchel after an extended search that has seen several top-level coaches snub the Bavarian club.

Bayern Munich are close to signing Vincent Kompany as the new manager to replace outgoing Thomas Tuchel after an extended search that has seen several top-level coaches snub the Bavarian club. According to British media reports, Bayern are in advanced talks with Burnley where Kompany is currently employed as the head coach. Burnley's owner, Alan Pace has held conversations with Bayern officials while the Belgian has already given his nod for the move to Germany. Kompany is on the verge of getting the high-profile job despite having a disappointing campaign with Burnley where the club was relegated to the Championship. After a high-flying promotion to the Premier League, Kompany could not adjust to the rigours of top-tier football as Burnley finished the season with only 24 points in 38 matches on the 19th position, ahead of Sheffield United. Kompany has Bundesliga experience, having played at Hamburg before joining Manchester City. He is fluent in German as well which could have played a part in his selection as the Bayern boss. Prior to Kompany, Bayern had been rejected by the likes of Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann and Austria manager Ralf Rangnick. The former Manchester United manager confirmed last month that he had been approached by Bayern over their soon-to-be vacant manager role. However, Rangnick added that he was not sure if he would take up the opportunity. There were rumors about Hansi Flick returning to the position but the Bayern upper hierarchy apparently turned down the proposal. Also read | Ralf Rangnick TURNS DOWN Bayern Munich job after Alonso, Nagelsmann rejection Tuchel sacked by Bayern In February, the record Bundesliga champions announced they had decided to terminate their collaboration with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the ongoing season despite his contract running till 2025. Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager, took over the reins in March last year from Nagelsmann who was sacked rather unceremoniously by the former Bayern board. While Tuchel did lead Bayern to a Bundesliga title last season, he could not emulate a similar performance in the 23-24 season as Bayer Leverkusen won the title for the first time in their history. Bayern crashed out of the Champions League as well after losing to Real Madrid in the dying seconds of the second leg at Bernabeu. (With inputs from agencies)
