The New Year Honours list recognises outstanding achievements in various fields including showbusiness, sport and politics while contributions of everyday citizens. 
Hamilton, 35, also surpassed Schumacher’s record number of career race wins during a phenomenal season in 2020 that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;

A group of British lawmakers, in November, called for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to recommend Hamilton for knighthood.

For Indian batsmen to do that against our attack &amp; for ours to not, it’ll be a cop-out to just say their bowlers were good,” Ponting further said.

"Michael Kindo passed away at the Ispat General Hospital due to age-related problems. He was bed-ridden for quite some time and was also suffering from depression," a family source told PTI.

"His last rites will be completed tomorrow as his daughters are reaching only then."

Hockey India condoled his death. Kindo, a full back in his playing days, was a member of the team that won the lone World Cup for India in 1975 in Kuala Lumpur, beating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final. He was also in the team that won a bronze medal in the 1972 Olympics in Munich. He scored three goals in that edition of the Games.

Rohit, Shubman or Mayank? Sunil Gavaskar picks his Indian openers for 3rd Test vs Australia

The Australia-India women’s ODI series slated for next month has been postponed to next season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cricket Australia said on Thursday.

CA boss Nick Hockley said Australia would host India’s women next season with three extra Twenty20 internationals added to the schedule on top of the three ODIs originally earmarked for January.

“We had initially hoped to play India this summer, however the impact of the global pandemic made it necessary to postpone until next season,” Hockley said in a media release.

Australia are currently hosting the India men’s team in a four-test series.

Australia defeated India in the women’s T20 World Cup final in March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground the last time the teams met.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson on Thursday overtook Australia’s Steven Smith and Indian captain Virat Kohli&nbsp;to become the number one Test batsman in the latest ICC rankings.

Despite public gatherings being capped at 30, authorities have given the green light to a half-capacity crowd at the 48,000-seat SCG, though fans will be asked to keep a lid on their cheering.

“We will be handing out masks on public transport going into the SCG, and advising people to wear masks when they are not physically at their seat,” New South Wales Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant told a media briefing on Wednesday.

“We also are asking people to ensure that they recognise (rules) around screaming and chanting, particularly when they are not in their fixed location.”

After weeks without a new case of COVID-19, NSW has recorded more than 100 infections linked to a recent outbreak in the city’s northern beaches.

Two-time reigning Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo was the only Bucks starter not to make a three-pointer, coming up empty on two attempts in a nine-point performance.

His brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo drained one three-pointer for the family on the way to five points off the bench for the Bucks, who simply steamrolled a Heat team that was without injured forward Jimmy Butler.

"Honestly, (we) just played hard," Holiday said. "We know the Heat way and how they're going to come out and play no matter who's playing.

"So we just wanted to take that approach."

It was a bounce-back win for the Bucks, who were blown out 130-110 by the Knicks in New York on Sunday.

"Last game in New York, we didn't show what we wanted to show," Holiday said.

They left no doubt in this one, leading by as many as 24 points on the way to a 46-26 first-quarter lead and never let up.

"Some nights, the basketball golds are with you a little bit, and it was probably one of those nights for us," Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said.

"But I liked our defense, too. I think the energy on both ends of the court feeds and builds on each other and good things will happen."

The Bucks' previous record for three-pointers in a game was 22, against the Sacramento Kings on November 4, 2018.

The most the Heat had given up before was 24.

"It looked like they had been thinking about this game for 80 days," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, whose team will get a chance to avenge the embarrassing defeat when they host the Bucks again on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Clippers also rebounded from a big defeat.

Two days after a 124-73 loss to the Dallas Mavericks the Clippers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-101.

Lou Williams scored 20 points off the bench to lead seven Clippers players who scored in double figures.

"We knew coming tonight we had to do better," said Clippers center Serge Ibaka, who scored 16 points. "We had to be aggressive, just play team basketball."

Bucks' long-range barrage buries Heat, Clippers bounce back

Manchester United are recreating the habit of late winners that could lead to an unexpected Premier League title challenge, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Marcus Rashford's deflected strike deep into stoppage time beat Wolves 1-0 on Tuesday to move United up to second and within two points of leaders Liverpool.

After come from behind wins at Brighton and Southampton already this season, United have now won three of their first 15 games of the season in added time, a trait Solskjaer knows well from his playing career at Old Trafford under Alex Ferguson.

"It's one of the points we brought up early in the season, that we didn't win many points towards the end of games," said Solskjaer.

"We have a tradition for it at this club. &nbsp;Obviously we've normally got many more supporters helping us to do that.

"Now we've won many more points towards the end of games and that's both a mental aspect and a physical aspect."

United laboured for long spells against a youthful Wolves side despite having a day's extra rest than the visitors, who were in action just 48 hours previously against Tottenham.

But Solskjaer described snatching victory from an uninspired performance as a "big step forward" as United beat Wolves for the first time in five meetings between the sides since Nuno Espirito Santo's men returned to the top flight two-and-a-half-years ago.

"We didn't perform as well as we want to do but we win a game against a very difficult side to play against," added Solskjaer.

"We've struggled against them, this is the first win in the league. We've played them seven times (over the past three seasons) and there has never been many goals in the games.

United's victory continues an excellent run of 23 points from the last possible 27 to mount a title challenge that looked unlikely after winning just two of their opening six league games.
