<p>In a statement on Tuesday, Air India said, "All pax travelling to UK and Europe, may kindly note that in view of the DGCA instructions regarding travel and visa restrictions related to the COVID-2019, all flights to/from UK and Europe will operate only till 18th March 2020 &amp; will remain suspended from 19th to 31st March, 2020."</p>

<p>This piece of information came as a shock to thousands of Indian students studying abroad.</p>

<p>Reports, however, say the delay is temporary, as this order applies only till March 31.</p>

Indian students stuck in Europe amid coronavirus scare. What's their status?

<p>Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Tuesday met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in Beijing. He is on a two-day visit to convey Islamabad's strong support and solidarity to Beijing in its battle against the coronavirus pandemic that has killed over 3,200 people in China.</p>

COVID-19: Sanitisation, social distancing among health ministry's measures to control spread in offices

<p>India has been taking strict precautionary measures to keep the spread of COVID-19 in the country in check, in the wake of the WHO declaring it as a pandemic.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare put up travel advisories on March 11 and 16, and the land borders of the country have also been being monitored. In continuation with these efforts, the ministry on Tuesday issued another advisory.</p>

<p><strong>A few pointers have been listed below:</strong></p>

<p>Travel of passengers from Afghanistan, Philippines and Malaysia to India is prohibited with immediate effect. No flight shall take off from these countries to India after 3 pm (IST) on Tuesday. The airline shall enforce this at the port of initial departure. This instruction is a temporary measure and shall be in force till March 31, 2020 and will be reviewed subsequently.</p>

<p>ICMR, Delhi will share the SOPs for laboratory testing and provide positive controls for establishing the test as soon as the concerned private laboratory has procured the primers, probes and reagents as per SOPs, adoption of commercial kits for testing should be based on validations conducted by the institute.</p>

Coronavirus outbreak: Health ministry issues travel advisory, bans passengers from Afghanistan and Malaysia

<p>Coronavirus has, since its outbreak in China's Wuhan last year, reached more than 120 countries. The epicentre has now shifted to Europe with death toll in most of the countries of the region crossing a 100.</p>

<p>One of the major concerns, more than the contraction of the virus, has been if those who have had it can get it a second time -- and what that means for immunity.</p>

<p>A few cases around the world have also emerged. The first case was a woman working as a tour bus guide. She was reinfected with the coronavirus, testing positive after having recovered from an earlier infection.</p>

<p>Also, a February 14 article from Caixin, a Beijing, China-based media group was titled '14% of Recovered Covid-19 Patients in Guangdong Tested Positive Again', clearly citing the infection can be contracted twice. A Shanghai-based news portal also reported that one of Wuhan’s makeshift health facilities had issued an emergency notice, stating more discharged patients had been readmitted after falling ill a second time.</p>

<p>Nepal has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led initiative of calling a SAARC conference on dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, and has termed it "timely". He said it shows the grouping is not "dead" and at the time of need can "come together... irrespective of any differences".&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an exclusive conversation with WION's diplomatic correspondent, Nepal envoy Nilambar Acharya also said it was not the time to discuss things that "disunite us" when asked about Pakistan raking up the Kashmir issue while discussing coronavirus in the video conference of SAARC countries.</p>

<p><strong>Excerpts from the interview --</strong></p>

<p><strong>WION:</strong> How do you see the India-led initiative to revive SAARC?</p>

<p><strong>Nilambar Acharya:</strong> It is an exemplary conference and a great initiative by PM Modi. It was very timely, and appropriate in combining our efforts to control the spread of coronavirus. It was the first video conference and first coming together of eight countries -- leaders of SAARC after 2014, the last summit of the SAARC.</p>

<p><strong>WION:</strong> The conference instils&nbsp;hope that SAARC can be revived, given no meet has happened since 2014. Isn't it?</p>

<p><strong>Nilambar Acharya:</strong> First of all, it shows SAARC is not dead; it shows SAARC can come together in time of need, irrespective of differences. It shows the SAARC region has many things in common, and that it is one force in protecting the region from disasters and pandemics. PM Modi's initiative also shows India's&nbsp;role, and its place in this region. Collective problems should be addressed collectively.</p>

<p><strong>WION:</strong> How do you see PM Modi announcing measures for SAARC region -- a $10 million fund and response teams?</p>

<p><strong>Nilambar Acharya:</strong> PM Modi has taken a very timely and a very wise initiative, and he&nbsp;has given hope that this region can set an example of how it can confront problems collectively. A rapid response team of doctors has been placed. It will be at the disposal of SAARC countries. Additionally, an emergency fund of $10 million from India side and other countries will also come. There are follow up actions planned, and that too within a week. Another video conference will happen; meetings will happen. This is a crisis, but it has brought leaders of the region together.</p>

Wise initiative by PM Modi to call SAARC conference on coronavirus outbreak: Nepal

<p>The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Monday moved the Supreme Court (SC) in the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) case, seeking staggered payment over 20 years by telecom companies. Telecom companies will be charged an 8 per cent interest on the staggered payments, a report said.</p>

<p>This payment mechanism would give the cash-strapped Vodafone Idea a fighting chance to survive. Reports say Vodafone Idea on Monday made an additional payment of Rs 3,354 crore towards AGR to the DoT. With this, Vodafone Idea had paid Rs 6,854 to the government.</p>

<p>The DoT said the formula for the recovery dues was created after detailed deliberations by the government and the Cabinet. The DoT has sought the apex court's approval for the formula.</p>

<p>The DoT had earlier said it would reassess the documents submitted by Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Tata Teleservices, as part of the companies’ self-assessment of AGR dues.</p>

<p>AGR includes rental receipts, dividend income and income from any other-activity arising out of the telecom licence the company has. Vodafone Idea is staring at dues worth over Rs 50,000 crore.</p>
