Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, has said he spoke to his Indian counterpart, PM Modi, adding Tel Aviv was dependent on supply lines from various countries. Coronavirus first originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December, 2019, and has claimed over 4,200 lives and infected more than 117,330 people across 107 countries and territories, with the World Health Organisation (WHO) describing the outbreak a pandemic.

“I also spoke to the prime minister of India, my friend Narendra Modi. We are dependent on supply lines from various countries. We are looking into it all the time,” Netanyahu told a press conference on Wednesday.

His remarks came during joint statements with the finance minister, the economy and industry minister, the Bank of Israel’s governor and the finance ministry director general on dealing with the economic implications of the coronavirus. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, however, did not clearly spell out the subject of Netanyahu’s discussions with Modi in its press release.

Netanyahu has announced a package of 10 billion NIS (USD 2.86 billion) to facilitate economic activity in the midst of challenges posed by the spread of the virus. “The Israeli economy is in a better situation than most economies in the world: Unemployment is low, growth is high and the debt to GDP ratio is good,” Netanyahu said.

“However, we have a great challenge here that we all are feeling and which we are all aware of. In our view, we can also deal with it in a way that will allow us to get through it successfully in peace,” he said.&nbsp;

“Not without difficulty, and not without sacrifice, but in the end, in peace, and I think that we can do this together in an optimal manner,” Netanyahu asserted .

The package lays special stress on the health sector and other businesses impacted by the coronavirus such as tourism and the aviation sector. It outlines financial assistance provisions for businesses affected by the global menace.

Activists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have raised the issue of worsening human rights situation in their provinces during the 43rd session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. Fazal-ur Rehman Afridi, a Pashtun political activist told the Council, "In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistani Army has unleashed a reign of terror against innocent civilians with impunity."

"Two protest sit-ins have been in progress -- by Mehsood tribe in Waziristan and Utmanzai tribe in front of provincial assembly of KPK -- for the last 44 days. The protestors have been demanding for compensation of more than 90,000 destroyed houses and 8,000 shops and markets in Miranshah during the so-called war on terror," he added.

Despite receiving billions of dollars in aid, Pakistan has not spent a single dollar for the rehabilitation and construction of destroyed homes, markets, schools, and other infrastructures. Afridi said, "We express our concern and condemn the illegal arrest and arbitrary detention for 30 days of Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen, a leader of PTM, a well-known human rights activist and hero of millions of Pashtuns around the world on false charges of sedition."

Human rights activists Idrees Khattak and Hazrat Naeem Abdul Qayum, alias Gilaman Pashteen, have allegedly been abducted and forcibly disappeared by the ISI, while Ehsanullah Ehsan has been allegedly released after the VIP hospitality of Pakistan Army.

At present, several PTM activists like Hanif Pashteen, Zulqarnain Bacha, Ovais Abdal, Alamgir Wazir, and Ghafoor Utmankhel are in illegal custody.

"We demand a Truth and Reconciliation Commission under the UN to investigate the human rights violations war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Pakistan Army in the former FATA," Afridi said.

Munir Mengal, a Baloch political activist, showed concern about the ongoing military operations in Balochistan.

"People of Balochistan are seen living in a military garrison and facing elimination on a daily basis," said Munir Mengal.

The systematic suppression, and involuntary disappearances have been declared by many HR organisations, local political parties, and analysts as the slow-motion genocide of the Baloch people, being done under as per the strategic policy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Baloch political activist urged the Council to conduct an independent investigation of human rights violations in Balochistan. "The Islamic State of Pakistan is so eager to curb the voice of Baloch people that thousands have disappeared involuntarily. The perpetrators are doing it with impunity and (it) is being done on a daily basis," he said.

"Years have passed, but we do not see any concrete and effective steps taken for the safe recovery of missing persons," he concluded.

In the meeting, the dignitaries discussed human rights abuse in Balochistan.

Baloch political activists highlighted the atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army as they have launched operations in Balochistan, killing civilians and destroying their houses.

Razzak Baloch, organiser, USA Chapter of Baloch Human Rights Council, told ANI: "Every 10 miles, there is a check post. Balochistan has become a bigger jail. People cannot move around. You cannot even question them. Life is very miserable. You cannot move around in Balochistan. Is this freedom? We want to be free. We want to breathe freely."

Taha Siddiqui, a Pakistani journalist, who is now living in exile, said, "In Balochistan, currently the biggest issue is that for a very long time there was abuse. There were atrocities by the Pakistani state, but now it is not just about these missing persons actually. What is the problem is that there are missing stories, there is an information black hole and things are not being reported independently or not even reported at all."

"We do not even have an idea of what is going on and that is worse than being able to report about it and talk about it. So in that sense, the way there are secret military operations and religious radicalisation going on and all of this is not being reported," he added.

Taha, who escaped his abduction in Pakistan by secret agencies further said, "Ever since China invested in Balochistan, the crackdown by the military and Pakistani state has worsened and they do not want to talk about Baloch issues. Nothing negative can be reported from the country because China does not want it, so the Pakistan military does not want it."

The event was also attended by a member of the European Parliament who spoke about the persecution of people in the mineral-rich but the poorest province in Pakistan.

Ryszard Czarnecki, a Member of European Parliament (MEP), said, "You have a very active (Baloch) diaspora, especially in Europe. Representatives of this diaspora inform us, the members of European Parliament about the real situation in Balochistan and about Pakistani violations and lack of respecting human rights in this region."

"We should make an intervention at different international levels. People in Balochistan should feel that they are not alone. I would like to express my solidarity with our brothers and sisters in this region," the MEP added.
