Six members claiming to be from the Osmania University Joint Action Committee had scaled the wall and protested at the actor's residence, causing a ruckus there. They held placards, raised slogans, and damaged flower pots, demanding justice for the December 4th stampede that took place during the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa-2: The Rule. Shortly after the incident on Sunday, police took the protesters into custody and deployed personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.

On December 4th, amid massive crowds, Allu Arjun's family members first arrived at the theatre in separate cars. Later, as his vehicle approached the screening venue, Allu Arjun waved from the sunroof of his vehicle and whipped up the frenzy among his fans that had thronged the locality. Flanked by his private security guards, as Arjun entered the premises, a stampede-like situation began to unfold. 
Revathi had come to the same theatre along with her husband and their two children. Amid the chaos that unfolded at the venue, the mother and son were separated from the rest of their family. With the crowds swelling, there was intense jostling, which led to the breakage of a gate leading to the balcony of the cinema hall. Revathi and Sritej had collapsed in the crowd, owing to suffocation. Police personnel intervened to help the mother-son duo and attempted to resuscitate them before rushing them to a hospital. 
While 35-year-old Revathi died as a result of the stampede, her son remains in a critical condition. According to the police, they had made multiple attempts to inform Allu Arjun and his team about the mishap outside the cinema hall, but the actor had reportedly agreed to leave only after the screening ended. Finally, police say, it took the direct intervention of a top police official to ensure Arjun's departure from the venue. The police official had demanded that Allu Arjun leave the premises and had made suitable arrangements for the smooth passage of the actor's vehicles. 
Allu Arjun's expresses condolence; Bereaved family files case
After the mishap, Allu Arjun posted a video on social media expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, and offering support. "Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extending every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey," read his post. 
While many came in support of the actor and pointed out that it was not his fault, there was also sharp criticism directed at him for not apologizing for the incident. Many had also pointed out how Arjun chose to wear a shirt that carried insignia linked to his film Pushpa-2, and indulged in promotional activities even amid such a situation. He had also pledged to donate Rs. 25 lakh and cover medical expenses for Revathi's son, who continues to remain in a critical condition at the time of writing (December 23rd).
Based on the complaint of the bereaved family, Hyderabad Police filed a case against the actor, his private security team, and the management of the Sandhya Theatre where the stampede took place. 
Initially, those associated with the Sandhya theatre management were arrested. On Friday, December 13th, Hyderabad Police arrested Allu Arjun on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt under Sections 105 and 118 respectively of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS).
A local court remanded Arjun to 14 days in judicial custody. However, his lawyers moved the Telangana High Court and secured interim bail. After spending a night in jail, Arjun was released the following morning. 
The politics over the arrest
Telangana is ruled by a Congress government, while the opposition parties comprise the BJP and BRS. The opposition parties have been quick to lash out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's government for targeting the national-award-winning actor. While opposition politicians expressed regret and condolences over the incident that unfolded during the cinema screening, they were against punishing the actor for what went wrong that night. The film industry too rallied in support of Allu Arjun and publicly expressed solidarity with the actor, with a few prominent ones meeting the actor after his release from jail.
Interestingly, the bereaved family agreed to withdraw the case against the actor after learning of his arrest.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defended the recent arrest of cinema star Allu Arjun, emphasising that the law applies equally to all citizens, irrespective of their status. He added that the law would take its course. He also denied any personal vendetta or a grudge against the actor.
A few months ago, the Revanth Reddy government razed a plush convention centre owned by actor Nagarjuna as part of a drive against encroachments in the buffer zones of lakes in and around Hyderabad. Even then, the film industry had spoken in favour of Nagarjuna and criticized the actions of the state government. 
Pushpa-2 Rules the Box Office
While the controversy regarding the mishap on the eve of the film release still continues, the film has been minting money and continues to run successfully well past its third weekend. Estimates suggest that Pushpa-2: The Rule has earned more than Rs 1500 crore ($176 million) worldwide. Industry analysts predict that the film will continue its strong run even during the Christmas and New Year vacation season.

Telangana Police on Sunday (Dec 22) revealed that actor Allu Arjun refused to exit the Hyderabad theatre on December 4 after he was informed that a woman had died in the chaos outside. Arjun was at the theatre for the premiere of Pushpa 2 and the crowd surged to catch a glimpse of the actor which resulted in a stampede-like situation.&nbsp; 
 
This comes a day after Arjun said that he had left Sandhya Theatre as soon as he learned “about the problem outside.” 
 
On Sunday, police released footage with timestamps indicating that the actor remained in the theatre until nearly midnight, alleging that he ignored police requests to leave. 
 
During a press conference, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand made a video presentation of the sequence of events leading to the stampede and its aftermath.

What happened at the Hyderabad theatre during Pushpa 2 screening

Chikkadapally Zone ACP Ramesh Kumar said the theatre manager had not initially allowed police to speak to Arjun, insisting that he would convey the police’s message to the actor.

According to the ACP, however, as Arjun did not leave, police then approached his manager and told him about the death of the woman and the critical injuries suffered by her nine-year-old son. But the manager also did not heed their request, the officer said.

“When we finally managed to go near Arjun and informed him about the woman’s death and the condition of the boy, as well as the chaos outside, he still refused to leave, saying he would go after watching the movie,” the ACP said.

Close to midnight, as the situation outside the theatre turned more chaotic with fans pushing each other to catch a glimpse of the star, the DCP and ACP forced their way inside and told the actor to leave. “The actor did not heed police requests to leave so that the situation could be controlled. Doesn’t this video footage make it clear what transpired? Police officers, even seniors, faced several challenges to approach the actor and get him to leave,” the Commissioner said. 
 
The footage was reportedly acquired from various sources, including social media and put together.

He also said Arjun’s security pushed and shoved people, including policemen.

“I take this opportunity to warn the bouncers hired by celebrities that they will be held accountable and responsible for their behaviour. I am issuing a stern warning to the bouncers and the agencies employing them that if any one of them touches or pushes a policeman in uniform or common citizens, strict action will be taken against them. We have seen how the bouncers behaved at the Sandhya Theatre, pushing and shoving people, even policemen on duty there… The celebrities are also responsible for the behaviour of the bouncers they hire,” the Commissioner said.

“We are taking legal advice on how to take this case forward,” he said.

From verbal duels to physical duels, Indian Parliament has seen it all this week, as a result of the now infamous 'Ambedkar Row'. After the embarrassing ruckus that took place on Thursday, the ruling BJP has filed a Police complaint against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for "physical assault and incitement".
In response, the Opposition Congress party has filed a Police complaint against BJP MPs for pushing Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and "physically manhandling" Rahul Gandhi. On Friday, the Lower House of Parliament Lok Sabha and the Upper House Rajya Sabha have been adjourned sine die(without any future date specified for resumption). 
<h2>How it all began...</h2>
The political slugfest erupted after Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on BR Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha during a debate on the '75th year of the adoption of the Indian Constitution'. Taking a dig at the Congress-led opposition, Amit Shah mentioned that, “it has become a trend to repeat Ambedkar’s name over and over. If they had chanted God’s name as much, they would have attained heaven in seven lifetimes”(remarks originally made in Hindi).
Shah expressed happiness that more people were taking Ambedkar's name these days but also went on to list out what he cited as injustices meted out by the Congress Party. Shah also reminded everyone that Ambedkar had to quit the first cabinet led by Jawaharlal Nehru, due to his disagreement with the Congress government's policies.

Opposition Parliamentarians considered Shah's remarks as an insult to Ambedkar and started their protests and social media offensive. Rahul Gandhi said, “Those who believe in Manusmriti will definitely have problems with Ambedkar ji.” The Congress party alleged that Shah’s remarks during a debate on the Constitution show that the BJP and the RSS leaders have a “lot of hatred” for Ambedkar.
Shah accused the Congress of sharing a trimmed version of his speech. As the controversy escalated, Congress MPs began demanding the resignation of the Home Minister for allegedly insulting Ambedkar. Prime Minister Modi came to the defence of Amit Shah, and accused the Congress of "theatrics". 
<h2>The scuffle in Parliament </h2>
On Thursday, the ruling BJP-led NDA and opposition INDIA bloc representatives had staged a protest in the Parliament premises, when a scuffle broke out between the two sides. Two BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured and later hospitalised. 
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi has alleged that he was hurt after getting a push from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Sarangi claimed that he was standing on the stairs when another member of Parliament fell on him, leading to an injury on his head. Further, a woman BJP MP accused Rahul Gandhi of "misbehaving" with her. BJP's Phangnon Konyak alleged that Rahul Gandhi shouted at her when she was protesting at the Parliament premises.
"Today while protesting, it was a peaceful protest. I was standing outside just below the staircase of Makar Dwar. Something happened to me for which I feel really disheartened. Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi ji came in very close proximity to me. I really felt very uncomfortable and he started shouting at me which I felt is very unbecoming of a leader of the opposition," Konyak said. The BJP MP from Nagaland said that she could have defended herself but did not do so.
Congress ally DMK's Tiruchi Siva contested the claims made by the ruling party MPs. “This is the version of one side. There was a demonstration going on outside and Mr Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the other house, is a very senior person and he has complained that he was only pushed. We respect all elder members. We respect every woman in this country. Nothing has happened of that sort,” he said.
<h2>The legacy of Dr BR Ambedkar</h2>
Ambedkar's legacy as a socio-political reformer continues to have a significant effect on modern India, so much so that Ambedkar is equated to God by his followers. He holds a social and political influence on Indian society, thanks to the social justice movement which empowered backward and suppressed classes in the country. His political philosophy has given rise to a large number of political parties, publications and workers' unions that remain active across India.
Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (1891-1956) was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow Cantonment, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his primary schooling in Satara, Maharashtra and his secondary education from Elphinstone High School in Bombay. His education was achieved in the face of significant discrimination, for he belonged to the Scheduled Caste (then considered as ‘untouchables’). In his autobiographical note ‘Waiting for a Visa’, he recalled how he was not allowed to drink water from the common water tap at his school.

Dr Ambedkar graduated from Bombay University in 1912 with a BA in Economics and Political Science. On account of his excellent performance at college, in 1913 he was awarded a scholarship by Sayajirao Gaikwad, then Maharaja (King) of Baroda state to pursue his MA and PhD at Columbia University in New York, USA. After Columbia, Dr. Ambedkar moved to London, where he registered at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to study economics, and enrolled in Grey’s Inn to study law. However, due to lack of funds, he had to return to India in 1917. In 1918, he became a Professor of Political Economy at Sydenham College, Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay). 
Dr Ambedkar founded Bahishkrit Hitkarini Sabha (Society for Welfare of the Ostracized) and led social movements such as Mahad Satyagraha in 1927 to demand justice and equal access to public resources for the historically oppressed castes of the Indian society. In the same year, he entered the Bombay Legislative Council as a nominated member.
In 1946, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly of India. On 15 August 1947, he took oath as the first Law Minister of independent India. Subsequently, he was elected Chairperson of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly and steered the process of drafting India’s Constitution. Mahavir Tyagi, a member of the Constituent Assembly, described Dr Ambedkar as “the main artist” who “laid aside his brush and unveiled the picture for the public to see and comment upon”.
Dr Rajendra Prasad, who presided over the Constituent Assembly and later became the first President of the Indian Republic, said: “Sitting in the Chair and watching the proceedings from day to day, I have realised as nobody else could have, with what zeal and devotion the members of the Drafting Committee and especially its Chairman, Dr Ambedkar in spite of his indifferent health, have worked. We could never make a decision which was or could be ever so right as when we put him on the Drafting Committee and made him its Chairman. He has not only justified his selection but has added lustre to the work which he has done.”
After the first General Election in 1952, he became a member of the Rajya Sabha. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate from Columbia University in the same year. In 1953, he was awarded another honorary doctorate from Osmania University, Hyderabad.

BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi has alleged that he was hurt after getting a push from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Sarangi claimed that he was standing on the stairs when another member of Parliament fell on him, leading to an injury on his head. Further, a woman BJP MP accused Rahul Gandhi of "misbehaving" with her. BJP's Phangnon Konyak alleged that Rahul Gandhi shouted at her when she was protesting at the Parliament premises. "Today while protesting, it was a peaceful protest. I was standing outside just below the staircase of Makar Dwar. Something happened to me for which I feel really disheartened. Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi ji came in very close proximity to me. I really felt very uncomfortable and he started shouting at me which I felt is very unbecoming of a leader of the opposition," Konyak said. The BJP MP from Nagaland said that she could have defended herself but did not do so. Congress ally DMK's Tiruchi Siva contested the claims made by the ruling party MPs. “This is the version of one side. Indian Space agency ISRO has commenced assembly of the Human-rated Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (HLVM3) rocket that will eventually carry Indian astronauts to space as part of the country's Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme. 
Presently, the rocket is being assembled at the Indian Spaceport in Sriharikota, in preparation for a maiden mission where the rocket will be carrying a humanoid robot 'Vyommitra' to space, instead of astronauts. 
Vyommitra will fly on three test missions to space, and once all these missions are successfully accomplished, ISRO will carry out the astronaut mission. 
The data gained through the uncrewed flights will be instrumental for the success of the crewed missions.
HLVM3 is a three-stage rocket with a payload capacity of about 10 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit. The vehicle is 53 metres tall and weighs 640 tonnes. 
"At 8:45 Hrs on 18th December, 2024 at SDSC, the stacking of the nozzle end segment with full flex seal nozzle of the S200 motor took place, thus commencing the official launch campaign of the HLVM3-G1 / OM-1 mission," ISRO said.

Twin S200 motors powered by solid fuel comprise the first stage of the rocket. L110 (liquid stage) and C32 (cryogenic) stages for the HLVM3, which serve as the second and final stage of the rocket, are also ready at the spaceport, ISRO added. HLVM3 is a modified version of India's heaviest rocket, the LVM3. Simply put, ISRO has enhanced the satellite-carrying LVM3 rocket to carry astronauts to space. 
Further, the crew escape systems elements are also at the spaceport. The Crew Escape System is what ejects the astronaut-carrying capsule to safety when there is an anomaly detected in the rocket mid-flight.
The integration of Crew Module (the capsule that will house astronauts) is happening at ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, and the integration of Service Module (which contains critical systems that support the mission) is taking place at UR Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru. 
Subsequently, the Crew Module and the Service Module will be integrated and tested at URSC, Bengaluru.

It was on December 18th, 2014, that ISRO carried out the maiden flight of the LVM3 rocket. In a mission dubbed 'LVM3-X/CARE', the LVM3-X rocket had lifted a 3775 kg Crew Module to an altitude of 126 km above the earth. 
From that sub-orbital altitude, it was controlled using thrusters to orient it for a favourable re-entry. The Crew Module descended using parachutes to have a smooth splashdown at the designated location off India's East Coast. 
The Indian Coast Guard recovered the Crew Module from the turbulent seas of the Bay of Bengal, approximately 1600 km from the Indian spaceport.
Conducted exactly a decade ago, that mission was developed as part of pre-project activities of the Human Spaceflight Project, well before the official Gaganyaan project was approved in 2019.

It is a fitting coincidence that ten years later, on the same day, ISRO is gearing up for the first uncrewed mission of Gaganyaan by commencing the stacking of human-rated LVM3, christened HLVM3, at the spaceport.
The primary objective of the LVM3-X/CARE mission was to validate the then new rocket's flight through the atmospheric regime and demonstrate the re-entry of a full-scale Crew Module into Earth's atmosphere. 
The mission achieved several critical technical milestones, including the flight validation of the LVM3 rocket, synchronized performance of the paired S200 solid rocket boosters, twin-engine operation of the Vikas engines in L110 stage, algorithms across the rocket's first two stages, and complex stage separation mechanisms.
That success also validated the entire integration, assembly, testing, and launch servicing processes, as well as the mission design and simulation cycles, ensuring readiness for future missions. 
The CARE experiment itself served as a platform to evaluate the aerothermal performance of the Crew Module and validate critical re-entry technologies. 
It successfully demonstrated blunt-body re-entry aerodynamics, thermal protection systems, parachute-based deceleration mechanisms, and recovery logistics, providing invaluable insights for further developments, ISRO said.
ISRO has come a long way from the experimental mission of LVM3-X/CARE mission. The human-rated launch vehicle, HLVM3, is derived from LVM3 and designed with enhanced reliability to meet human safety considerations.
Additionally, a Crew Escape System (CES) is implemented to ensure crew safety by safe ejection of Crew Module (CM) in a potentially adverse situation. The CES is operational from the launch pad till its separation after the atmospheric flight regime. 
The success of the LVM3-X/CARE mission was instrumental in ISRO's journey toward self-reliance in launching heavier satellites. LVM3 has since completed seven successive successful launches. 
The insights gained from the CARE mission have also been pivotal in shaping ISRO's human spaceflight program. Iterations in the Crew Module design, along with subsequent pad abort tests, air-drop tests, and test vehicle flights, are built on the foundational data provided by CARE.
Dr. S Somanath, Mission Director of the LVM3-X/CARE mission, now serves as the Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, while Dr. S Unnikrishnan Nair, the Payload Director of the LVM3-X/ CARE mission, became the founding Director of the Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), Bengaluru, and now leads the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

Indian Space agency ISRO has commenced assembly of the Human-rated Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (HLVM3) rocket that will eventually carry Indian astronauts to space as part of the country's Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme.&nbsp;

Presently, the rocket is being assembled at the Indian Spaceport in Sriharikota, in preparation for a maiden mission where the rocket will be carrying a humanoid robot 'Vyommitra' to space, instead of astronauts.&nbsp;

HLVM3 is a three-stage rocket with a payload capacity of about 10 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit. The vehicle is 53 metres tall and weighs 640 tonnes.&nbsp;

"At 8:45 Hrs on 18th December, 2024 at SDSC, the stacking of the nozzle end segment with full flex seal nozzle of the S200 motor took place, thus commencing the official launch campaign of the HLVM3-G1 / OM-1 mission," ISRO said.&nbsp;

Twin S200 motors powered by solid fuel comprise the first stage of the rocket. L110 (liquid stage) and C32 (cryogenic) stages for the HLVM3, which serve as the second and final stage of the rocket, are also ready at the spaceport, ISRO added. HLVM3 is a modified version of India's heaviest rocket, the&nbsp;LVM3. Simply put, ISRO has enhanced the satellite-carrying LVM3 rocket to carry astronauts to space.&nbsp;

Further, the crew escape systems elements are also at the spaceport. The Crew Escape System is what ejects the astronaut-carrying capsule to safety when there is an anomaly detected in the rocket mid-flight.

The integration of Crew Module (the capsule that will house astronauts) is happening at ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, and the integration of Service Module (which contains critical systems that support the mission) is taking place at UR Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru.&nbsp;

Subsequently, the Crew Module and the Service Module will be integrated and tested at URSC, Bengaluru.

<h2>Significance of Dec 18 and ISRO's LVM3-X/CARE mission</h2>

It was on December 18th, 2014, that ISRO carried out the maiden flight of the LVM3 rocket. In a mission dubbed 'LVM3-X/CARE', the LVM3-X rocket had lifted a 3775 kg Crew Module to an altitude of 126 km above the earth.&nbsp;

From that sub-orbital altitude, it was controlled using thrusters to orient it for a favourable re-entry. The Crew Module descended using parachutes to have a smooth splashdown at the designated location off India's East Coast.&nbsp;

The Indian Coast Guard recovered the Crew Module from the turbulent seas of the Bay of Bengal, approximately 1600 km from the Indian spaceport.

Conducted exactly a decade ago, that mission was developed as part of pre-project activities of the Human Spaceflight Project, well before the official Gaganyaan project was approved in 2019.&nbsp;

It is a fitting coincidence that ten years later, on the same day, ISRO is gearing up for the first uncrewed mission of Gaganyaan by commencing the stacking of human-rated LVM3, christened HLVM3, at the spaceport.

The primary objective of the LVM3-X/CARE mission was to validate the then new rocket's flight through the atmospheric regime and demonstrate the re-entry of a full-scale Crew Module into Earth's atmosphere.&nbsp;

The mission achieved several critical technical milestones, including the flight validation of the LVM3 rocket, synchronized performance of the paired S200 solid rocket boosters, twin-engine operation of the Vikas engines in L110 stage, algorithms across the rocket's first two stages, and complex stage separation mechanisms.

That success also validated the entire integration, assembly, testing, and launch servicing processes, as well as the mission design and simulation cycles, ensuring readiness for future missions.&nbsp;

The CARE experiment itself served as a platform to evaluate the aerothermal performance of the Crew Module and validate critical re-entry technologies.&nbsp;

It successfully demonstrated blunt-body re-entry aerodynamics, thermal protection systems, parachute-based deceleration mechanisms, and recovery logistics, providing invaluable insights for further developments, ISRO said.

ISRO has come a long way from the experimental mission of LVM3-X/CARE mission. The human-rated launch vehicle, HLVM3, is derived from LVM3 and designed with enhanced reliability to meet human safety considerations.

Additionally, a Crew Escape System (CES) is implemented to ensure crew safety by safe ejection of Crew Module (CM) in a potentially adverse situation. The CES is operational from the launch pad till its separation after the atmospheric flight regime.&nbsp;

The success of the LVM3-X/CARE mission was instrumental in ISRO's journey toward self-reliance in launching heavier satellites. LVM3 has since completed seven successive successful launches.&nbsp;

The insights gained from the CARE mission have also been pivotal in shaping ISRO's human spaceflight program. Iterations in the Crew Module design, along with subsequent pad abort tests, air-drop tests, and test vehicle flights, are built on the foundational data provided by CARE.

Owing to an evolving weather system in the Bay of Bengal, off India's southeast coast, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy (up to 11 cm) to very heavy rainfall (up to 20 cm) in Chennai city and adjoining districts of Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram, for Wednesday, 18th December. Similarly, a yellow alert has been issued for Villupuram and Cuddalore districts, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. In meteorology, a 'Low Pressure Area' is associated with stormy weather, gusty winds, rough sea conditions, and rainfall. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall (up to 11 cm) has been issued for Thursday, 19th December, for Chennai, and the adjoining districts of Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram. Due to the impact of the weather system, a warning has been issued, advising fishermen against venturing along the Tamil Nadu coast, and parts of the South Andhra Pradesh coast where winds could be gusting at speeds of up to 55 kmph. The weather system lay in the Palk Strait region, which is a narrow strip of ocean separating the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the island nation of Sri Lanka.

The IMD maintains that the system is likely to move west-northwestwards towards the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, following which it will weaken into a 'low-pressure area' around Friday, 13th December. For Friday, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 12 districts spanning the western and southern regions of Tamil Nadu.&nbsp;

With winds forecast to be gusting at 55 kmph until Saturday, 14th December, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing out along the Tamil Nadu Coast. Similar conditions are expected to prevail along parts of the Kerala coast as well, and a warning has been issued for fishermen.&nbsp;

Over the last 24 hours, a maximum of 18 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Kodiayakarai, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Chennai city and adjoining regions have also witnessed around 10 cm of rainfall.&nbsp;

In light of the rainfall alert, five teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on standby for deployment, with 30 personnel in each team.

In addition to this, one team is pre-positioned at the Union Territory of Puducherry, while another is en route to Tiruvannamalai district, where a temple festival is to take place, amid the rainfall warning.&nbsp;

For Wednesday the IMD issued an orange alert for six districts of Tamil Nadu, warning of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai districts. Similarly, a Yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Villuppuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Tiruvallur districts of Tamil Nadu.

For Thursday&nbsp;(Dec 12), an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for isolated places over Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai districts of Tamilnadu.

Further, a yellow alert for heavy rain issued for isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Karur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi districts of Tamilnadu, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

As per the IMD, the impact of this weather system could continue to bring rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu, over the next five days.

Owing to rough sea conditions and gusty winds, the IMD has advised fishermen against fishing along the Tamil Nadu coast.
