India has raised the issue of ceasefire violation by Pakistan and its support to cross border terrorist infiltration which is aided by unprovoked firing from the other side.

The Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said, "have highlighted our concerns at unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan forces, including in support of cross border terrorist infiltration, and targeting of Indian civilians and border posts by them".

There have been 2,050 unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan this year in which 21 Indians have died.

Asking Pakistan to "adhere to 2003 ceasefire understanding and maintain peace and tranquillity along the LOC and IB", the MEA spokesperson said, "Indian forces exercise maximum restraint and respond to unprovoked violations and attempts at cross border terrorist infiltration".

India had raised the matter via diplomatic channels in Islamabad. Pakistan had summoned Indian deputy high commissioner on Saturday, the latter had told them not to exacerbate the situation at the LoC.

Increasingly, it is being seen that Pakistan has been instigating people on its side to cross the Line Of Control.

Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command of the Indian Army on Saturday said, "There are a large number of leaders across the LoC who are instigating PoK residents. It's trying to use them as cannon fodder for attempts to come close to LoC".

Exuding confidence, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said, "situation at LoC is firmly under control. By our calibrated and proactive approach, we have been able to attain complete moral ascendency over the enemy".

He visited forward posts in Rajouri and Sunderbani sectors on Saturday to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation.

India slammed Pakistan for a memorial dedicated to the events of February 27 when it launched a direct attack on Indian military installations after New Delhi's counter-terror strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps a day earlier.

India slammed Pakistan for a memorial dedicated to the events of February 27 when it launched a direct attack on Indian military installations after New Delhi's counter-terror strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps a day earlier. New Delhi dismissed it as another propaganda attempt by Islamabad saying it is a "lie, deceit, deception cast in stone". Calling the structure based on "false notion of victory", an Indian government source said, "unfortunately Pak Army & ISPR ( Inter-Services Public Relations is the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces) is taking the whole nation with 220m population down." The memorial was inaugurated on September 7, Pakistan's air force day and is located at Sargodha Air Base near the eastern city of Lahore. The memorial has names of Pakistani officials who took part in the operation and wings of two Indian Air Force planes -- one MiG 21 Bison & Su 30 MKI -- Pakistan claims to have struck down. While India accepts one MiG 21 Bison was shot down whose pilot Wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured but under global pressure, Islamabad released him soon, there is no proof of another Indian plane being shot down. On the memorial, it is also written that Pakistan used F16s which was flown by Sqn Ldr Hassan Mehmood Siddique using AMRAAM Missile, that was used on Indian military installations. Two graves below the memorial contain two Pakistani Pilots who went down on February 27, 2019 though Islamabad has never owned it up. India had launched the strikes in response to Pulwama terror attacks on February 14 that killed more than 40 Indian security personnel.

Pakistan has given a miss to the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO) meet on military medicine in Delhi that ended on Friday but it did send a representative for the dinner on the first day.

Pakistan's air attache Abdul Adil was present at the dinner but both the days' empty seats were seen at the conference hall where the meet was taking place. The defence ministry had sent an invite and designated places were also made available for the Pakistani delegation but no participation was seen from Islamabad.

In the aftermath of New Delhi's decision to remove a special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has reduced diplomatic and trade ties with India but being at the SCO forum would have allowed it to engage with India as part of wider multilateral engagement.

In fact, India and Pakistan last year had taken part in the annual SCO military exercises for the first time last year and are currently taking part in Russia’s Exercise TSENTR 2019 from September 9 to 23.

Delhi hosted the first-ever SCO military medicine conference on Thursday and Friday. On the first day, India's defence minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the threat of nuclear, chemical and biological warfare. He underlined the "complexity of the existing challenges" and informed about the "importance of building capabilities to deal with the menace of bio-terrorism" which he termed a "real threat the world is facing today."

SCO is an eight-member grouping which includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan and four Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan became full members of the grouping in 2017 during the Astana summit. The grouping also referred to as the "alliance of the East" is one of the largest grouping in the world in terms of population and landmass.

India has removed 312 foreign nationals from the Sikh community from its central "adverse list" and now these people can get a visa to visit India and even get an Overseas Citizen of India or OCI card. The list now only has two people on the list.

A government source said, "Government reviewed adverse list containing Sikh foreign nationals...review is a continuous and dynamic process and is a part of a regular exercise."

Explaining the benefit, the source added, "These Sikh foreign nationals would now be eligible to avail Indian visa services to reconnect to their roots and visit their families in India."

The people will now become eligible for issuance of long term Indian visas and become eligible for (OCI) card. They will be granted OCI card after holding normal visas for a period of two years.

Most of the Sikh Indian nationals on the list had left India to escape the authorities in the early 1980s in the aftermath of turmoil following operation Blue Star to flush out Khalistani terrorist occupying the holiest shrine in Sikhism - The Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar.

The Indian missions abroad have also done away with the maintenance of "local adverse lists". The missions will now grant an appropriate visa to all categories of asylees or people whose names have been removed from the central adverse list & derivative asylees or families of such foreign citizens.

India has said its quite confident at United Nations Human Rights Council ( UNHRC) even as Pakistan tries to rake up Kashmir at the Geneva-based institution and highlighted Islamabad's poor track record on the situation of minorities.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "We are quite confident that the members of UNHRC, they are aware of our position on Article 370 and the steps we have taken in J&K to ensure normalcy."

Calling Pakistan's situation quite desperate, Raveesh Kumar said, "In case of doublespeak, its quite audacious on Pakistan that the country which is harbouring terrorists, which is the epicentre of terrorism, is pretending to speak on behalf of the global community on human rights, this is very rich. Their record of persecution of minorities ethnic and religious I don't think I need to explain."

Adding further he said, "Repeating a lie, 4-5 times doesn't turn out to be gospel truth that came out very clearly at UNHRC."

The 42nd session of the Human Rights Council is underway in Geneva from September 9-27.

On Tuesday clashes emerged between India and Pakistan as Islamabad raised Kashmir at the forum as they put out there national statements and right of reply.

Asked about the joint statement Pakistan has claimed on the behalf of 58 countries on the situation on Kashmir, Raveesh said, "If they got support, you would have known, it is not a secret session of UNHRC."

Explaining further Kumar said, "The list of countries who support them you have to ask them to provide. we do not have the list. You have to understand, there are 47 members including India and Pakistan, they are claiming 60, so either they have gone beyond to wider international community."

Pakistan has been hoping to bring a resolution against India or a special session on Kashmir but has failed due to lack of support.

United Nations Human Rights Council members aware of our position on Article 370: India

India has asked Pakistan to be more flexible on the Kartarpur corridor in the backdrop of the third round of official talks which took place at Attari on September 4 and ended in a deadlock.

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "We had hoped that all pending issues will be resolved (in the meet), however, we realised Pakistan was quite inflexible during the talks."

"We have urged Pakistan to show some flexibility. It is involving the sensitivity of people. It is a long-pending demand and we have urged Pakistan to show flexibility on this matter so that we can proceed without hindrance in the run-up to the celebration of 550 birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji," the foreign ministry spokesman added.

During the talks earlier this month, Pakistan had insisted on charging $20 per pilgrim for the visit which was opposed by India for being against the spirit of the smooth functioning of the corridor.

The Pakistani foreign ministry spokesperson Mohammad Faisal had said earlier on Thursday, "Please note that this proposed fee will not be charged for entering the premises of Gurdwara Kartarpur Saheb. This fee will only be charged in order to supplement the enormous expenditure which the government of Pakistan is undertaking to complete and maintain the Kartarpur Saheb Corridor and to provide services to the pilgrims. The fee will not even cover a fraction of the cost that our government is bearing in order to facilitate the pilgrims."

Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has written to PM Modi and sought his intervention to make sure Pakistan withdraws the $20 service charge proposal.

During the September 4 meet, Islamabad did not agree to 10,000 pilgrim figure proposed by New Delhi on special occasion due to infrastructure issues. Pakistan also did not agree on the presence of Indian consular persons in the Gurudwara to facilitate the pilgrimage.

Both sides have said they are committed to the project which was agreed in November 2018. The corridor is expected to be open by November 2019 during the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Gurudwara is located in Pakistan's Narowal district, about four km from Dera Baba Nanak on the Indian side.

The Pakistani proposal for consular access for Kulbhushan Jadhav had taken place after New Delhi got a major diplomatic victory at the ICJ on July, 17. The world court had asked Pakistan to "provide Indian consular officers access to him in accordance with Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations".

New Delhi had called on Islamabad to provide full consular access in an "environment free from the fear of intimidation and reprisal, in the light of the orders of the ICJ".

India maintains that Jadhav was abducted by Pakistani agencies from Iran and New Delhi was first informed about his custody by Pakistani authorities on March, 25, 2016, after which in 2017, Islamabad announced that military has awarded death sentence against him.

Marcin Przydacz: There will be a greater impact on the relations between Poland and India, not only politically but also economically when it comes to tourism. Polish people are very interested in India, they have more and more money. This is not the first direct flight between Poland and Asia. There have been direct flights between China, Japan and Singapore. Very very important for tourist and also for businessmen.

WION: Is trade value between India-Poland far below its potential?

Marcin Przydacz: It is far below potential but not that bad. Our trade is $ 3 billion, so it is not that bad but we can do much more. We are interested also in what you can offer to Poland. We can discuss high tech, fin-tech, agriculture products and also cultural products. Bollywood is more and more popular in Poland. There were a couple of films that were done in Warsaw, our capital. That is also a possibility for further cooperation.

WION: India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited your country last month, how will it increase the political engagement?

Marcin Przydacz: That was a very important visit. The last visit of Indian foreign minister was 30 years ago. EAM visit was very important and has taken our relations at a higher level. He had a good talk with our deputy Prime minister and I really hope the result of this visit will take us to a higher level. We are working on a presidential visit. Our president will have a chance to visit very soon, that is why I am here for political dialogue at a higher level.

WION: Your take on the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions?

Marcin Przydacz: Well those tensions between India and Pakistan as a result of a change in status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir is a big concern for the whole international family. We as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council are also the concern of the situation. We are for a peaceful resolution, for dialogue and we like EU think, it will have to solve bilaterally, you have to discuss and find a way on how to solve the situation.

WION: You will visit Kolhapur in Maharashtra, a city that hosted many Polish refugees during World War 2 as Nazis attacked Poland.

Marcin Przydacz: Our friendly ties are deeply rooted in history and good foundation of ties are based on generosity by Indian society during World War 2, when your people invited our refugees who were forcibly taken to Siberia, Russia and were able to escape but they didn't have the chance to go back home, so they came to India and they were hosted here. In Gujarat and Maharashtra, there were camps for 5000 Polish people. Generosity by our society is still remembered in Poland. I don't know if it is remembered here in India and that is why we are opening a museum on how Indian society helped Polish refugees, many of them are 90 years old.

WION: How do you see US President calling off talks with Taliban and developments in Afghanistan?

Marcin Przydacz: Being a non-permanent member of UNSC we are concerned on the situation in Afghanistan. Our troops are there, we are in Afghanistan for the last couple of years and we would love to see Afghanistan as a peaceful and prosperous country because then its crucial for security and stability of the whole region starting from India but it has impact on the situation in Europe.

We have a full strength team & we hope to beat Pakistan in Pakistan — Harin Fernando (@fernandoharin) September 10, 2019 × Sri Lanka's response comes after Pakistan's Federal Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry earlier said Lankan players dropped out of the tour due to pressure from Indian Premier League. Chaudhry said "Informed sports commentators told me that India threatened SL players that they 'll be ousted from IPL if they don’t refuse Pak visit" calling it a "really cheap tactic" on the part of Indian sports authorities. 10 Sri Lankan cricketers -- Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne -- opted out of the upcoming Pakistan tour over security concerns. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday inaugurated first of its kind cross border commercial oil pipeline between India and Nepal in South Asia.

The pipeline from Motihari in Bihar to Amlekhganj in Nepal will transfer petroleum products such as diesel, LPG, aviation turbine fuel etc.

Speaking at the inauguration through video conference, PM said, "our bilateral cooperation has increased in the past few years..and India is ready to help Nepal according to country's priority."

Calling the pipeline "One of the best examples of trade and transit between India and Nepal", PM Oli said, "Implementation of various India aided projects in Nepal have gathered momentum in recent years following the understanding between me and PM Modi."

Nepal's KP Oli also said the project will enhance "interconnected and interdependence" between India and Nepal.

The idea of the pipeline was first proposed in 1996 and finalised in 2014 during PM Modi's Nepal visit. It was approved by Indian Oil at a total cost of Rs. 324 crore in September 2015 but the work was delayed following the earthquake of 2015.

The pipeline will replace road transportation and ensure uninterrupted supplies. The pipeline is 69 km long with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum. Around 32.7km of the pipeline is in Indian territory and 36.2 km in Nepal's territory.

Inda is engaged in a number of projects in Nepal. Last year Integrated Check Post in Birgunj (Nepal) built with New Delhi's assistance was inaugurated during PM Modi's visit. Both leaders also inaugurated three-storied library for Nepal Academy and Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupati Dharmashala in Kathmandu.
