A day after Pakistani's Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) issued its most-wanted terrorist list, India has highlighted that it "glaringly omits the mastermind and key conspirators" of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The list mentions 1210 high profile and most wanted terrorists of Pakistan but makes no mention of Hafiz Saeed, Masood Azhar, or Dawood Ibrahim.

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Anurag Shrivastava in response to a WION question said, " While the list includes a select few members of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, an UN-designated terror entity based in Pakistan, including the crew members of the boats used to execute the 26/11 attack, it glaringly omits the mastermind and key conspirators of the heinous terror attack."

WION on Wednesday first reported that 11 Pakistani Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who were involved in the 26/11 attacks are on the list. These include Muhammad Amjad Khan of Multan who was involved in the purchase of the boat Al Fouz involved in the 2008 terror attack, the captain of the boat Shahid Gafoor and 9 other crew members.

The spokesperson highlighted that list "makes it clear that Pakistan possesses all the necessary information and evidence on the conspirators and facilitators of the Mumbai terror attack based in Pakistan."

The list says Muhammad Amjad Khan had purchased Yamaha Motorboat engine, life jackets, inflatable boats from ARZ water sport, Karachi, things that were used in Mumbai terror attacks and "recovered by Indian authorities".

India has been repeatedly calling the Pakistan government to "give up its obfuscation and dilatory tactics" in "discharging its international obligations" in the Mumbai terror attacks trial, the spokesperson said, pointing out that "several other countries have also called upon Pakistan to expeditiously bring the perpetrators of the dastardly terror attacks to justice."

Russia supports India at SCO; says the bilateral matter should not be raised

Italian envoy to India has said his country is working with India for a trading system that is "equitable and free".

Speaking exclusively to our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal, envoy Vincenzo De Luca talked about the India-Italy virtual summit that took place last week saying, "We have defined our working program for the next five years" and "this is the most important achievement.". He spoke on several issues from the pandemic to India-EU ties.

WION: What is the key outcome of the virtual summit that took place between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian PM Giuseppe Conte?

Vincenzo De Luca: The virtual summit between President Conte and Prime Minister Modi marks an important milestone in the bilateral relations between Italy and India.

The two prime ministers had a thorough exchange that ranged from global to regional and bilateral issues. The results of the meeting were summarized in the Joint Declaration and Plan of Action, which contains the priority areas and strategic goals on which the bilateral partnership for the period 2020-2025 will be based upon. We have defined our working program for the next five years and I believe this is the most important achievement.

WION: On the COVID-19 crisis, how have both countries collaborated?

Vincenzo De Luca: Italy and India have worked extensively together since the outbreak of COVID-19. Among other initiatives, we have co-organized two webinars aimed at exchanging experiences and exploring areas of cooperation for future projects, especially in the field of drug repurposing and immunization.

We will also work together in the multilateral arena, in particular in view of the consecutive presidencies of the G20. We both believe in an efficient multilateralism, one that is capable of responding to the needs of a multipolar world. Tackling the current health situation is among the main tasks that the international community will deal with in the near future and this is why we must rely on a reinforced role of the World Health Organization.

WION: How much alternate supply chain was the focus of the summit?

Vincenzo De Luca: We are aware that a sustainable economic recovery post-COVID 19 will depend on the activation of solid and reliable global supply chains and enhanced connectivity. In this framework, we are confident on working with our Indian partners for a reinforced trade system that encourages equitable and free trade.

WION: How do you see India's outreach to Europe? We saw visits by Indian FS. Now the virtual summit...

Vincenzo De Luca: We are very happy about the successful completion of the 15th India-EU Summit held in July 2020 and are looking forward to the implementation of "India-EU Strategic Partnership: Roadmap to 2025” which will intensify India-EU partnership in several areas including trade, investment, connectivity, digital technologies and climate.

India has told the United Kingdom that the ban of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) should continue.

New Delhi has "shared information" as to why the ban should remain on the group that was responsible for the 30-year long insurgency in Sri Lanka but also the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sri Lankan President Ranasinghe Premadasa.

The development comes after Britain's Proscribed Organisations Appeal Commission (POAC) in October removed terror tag from the group.

Earlier on Tuesday, in response to a WION question, Acting British High Commissioner to India Jan Thompson on if India has raised the issue said, "Can't comment on individual conversations we had. But we had detailed discussion on a range of issues including around this type of issue with Indian govt in a different format".

The decision of the POAC comes after an appeal was filed in May 2019 by an LTTE front organization that challenged the decision of the UK Secretary of State for Home Affairs. The decision had refused the application to de-proscribe LTTE from the list of Proscribed Organizations under the UK Terrorism Act of 2000.

Sri Lanka had protested against the development and has filed an appeal against the judgement of the POAC on the delisting of LTTE as terror organization.

In a release, the Sri Lankan foreign ministry said, "Government of Sri Lanka has sufficient evidence to prove that the remnants of the LTTE and groups aligned with its terrorist ideology are active in foreign countries, working to incite violence and destabilize the country."

Explaining, "Sri Lanka remains vigilant of threats to its national security as well as that of the region, and will always support members of the international community in the global fight against terrorism."

The UK had listed LTTE as a terror outfit in 2000. The British Home Secretary will make the final decision on its listing.

Russia's top defence export body Rosoboronexport has expressed its readiness to give India technology for production of defence equipment.

Earlier this month the body marked its 20th anniversary and in response to WION question it said, "historically, from the very beginning.....not only supplied military equipment but also provided assistance in organising its production, creating repair and maintenance facilities".

The company has worked together with Indian authorities for licensed production of multirole Su-30MKI fighter jets in India, the modernisation and transfer of the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier to the Indian Navy. India and Russia share a close defence partnership, something that has been the pillar of the much-celebrated relationship.

Calling the bilateral projects "fully consistent" with the Make in India program, Rosoboronexport pointed out that it has been actively working with major Indian industrial companies – HAL, OFB, Bharat Forge, Bharat Dynamics, etc – and has "always appreciated the highest level of their expertise."

The result of the Su-30MKI program was the induction into the Indian Air Force of a new aircraft, which has become the world's first super-maneuverable combat aircraft in serial production. It is also the first exported fighter jet equipped with the phased-array radar.

Joint production of Kalashnikov AK203 assault rifles by the specially established Indo Russia Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) rifle manufacturing facility in Korwa, Amethi is the next key focus of both sides. While the project has its usual benefits of 100% localisation program, the project is still to be launched due to the absence of the production contract.

But the good news is, both sides have agreed on the technical configuration of the rifle. The AK203 project could become a major boost for the Amethi region, as well as potentially for India's export ambitions. The joint program also could see the possibility of rifles being exported to other countries.
