The closing ceremony held ahead of the IPL 2022 final saw performances from Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and award-winning music director and singer AR Rahman. Both performed songs from popular Bollywood movies and celebrated 15 years of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

Coming to the IPL 2022 final, RR won the toss and opted the field in the summit clash against GT. RR will be looking to win their first title since winning the tournament way back in 2008 while it will be a special feat for GT to win it in their debut season.

Apart for these two occasions, the average age of the two captains in an IPL final has always exceeded 30 years.

Gujarat Titans qualified for the playoffs at the top of the points table with 18 points while Rajasthan Royals were second with 16 points. The two sides have faced each other twice this season with Gujarat Titans emerging victorious on both occasions including a close clash in Qualifier 1.

Manchester United have announced on Sunday that former interim manager Ralf Rangnick will not be staying at Old Trafford as a consultant despite his previous agreement with the club.

The 63-year-old German Rangnick too has announced that he will not remain at Manchester United as a consultant due to the demands of his new role as Austria manager.

Rangnick, who was expected to stay at United for a further two years in his new role, confirmed the news in a press conference in Austria on Sunday.

"We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not, therefore, be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford," Manchester United said in a statement.

"We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career."

Rangnick was appointed manager of Austria`s national team on April 29 but he announced he would still be working at United as a consultant.

Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh heaped praises on Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal for his brilliant performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In an interaction with Sportskeeda, Harbhajan said that Chahal has been a match-winner for Rajasthan Royals and explained that he is the only one who has ‘bowled like a spinner’.

"Yuzvendra Chahal is the Jos Buttler of the bowling department. He has won matches with his bowling performances. In my opinion, he is the only slow bowler in the IPL who is bowling like a spinner. He is bowling slowly in the air, spinning the ball and enticing the batters to come out of the crease and go after him. Other spinners are bowling quick and are spinners for namesake. Spinners are supposed to spin the ball. That’s where you will get wickets,” Harbhajan explained.

Dottin top-scored with a 44-ball 62 at the top of the order to help Supernovas to 165 for seven after being put in to bat. With the ball, she took two wickets for 28 runs in her four overs to play a major role in restricting Velocity to 161 for eight.

South African batter Laura Wolvaardt almost single-handedly took Velocity within striking distance of a sensational win with a blazing 65 not out off 40 balls, which included five fours and three sixes.

Wolvaardt, who became the only batter in the tournament to score two half centuries, launched a ferocious onslaught in the death overs with a flurry of boundaries to raise hopes of a stunning victory for Velocity.

Number 10 batter Simran Bahadur (20 not out off 10 balls) also chipped with three successive fours in the penultimate over. Velocity needed 17 runs from the final over but left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone (2/28) conceded just 12 runs to win the match despite Wolvaardt hitting a six off the first ball.

The 30-year-old Dottin was dropped on 13 by Sneh Rana off Deepti Sharma in the fourth over, and she made Velocity pay for that costly mistake by making 62 off 44 balls, which was studded with one four and four sixes.

The experienced campaigner stitched 73 runs for the opening wicket with Priya Punia (28) and added 58 for the second wicket with in-form captain Harmanpreet Kaur (43 off 29 balls).

Ferrari`s Charles Leclerc came up with a dominant performance to take pole position for the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, his sensational lap keeping teammate Carlos Sainz at bay by 0.225s on Saturday before a crash brought an early end to the proceedings.

With overtaking very difficult on the street circuit for the Monaco Grand Prix, starting from the front row is an advantage. Thus, the all-important qualifying session saw Leclerc top Q1, Q2 and Q3 on the way to take Ferrari`s 12th pole position in the Principality with a sensational time of 1m 11.376s.

The Monegasque was on course to improve -- but a red flag at the end of Q3 saw the field essentially set, Perez taking third with a gap of 0.253s to Leclerc and Verstappen fourth by 0.290s. Leclerc had started the season on a strong note but was overtake by defending champion Max Verstappen in the Drivers` Championships standings after the Spanish GP.

The Q3 red flag was caused by Perez`s spin just before the tunnel section, Sainz then running into Perez having seen the yellow flag too late.

Lando Norris rounded out the top five for McLaren, George Russell behind in P6 for Mercedes. Fernando Alonso (P7) and Lewis Hamilton (P8) share the fourth row, with Sebastian Vettel, ninth for Aston Martin, and Alpine`s Esteban Ocon rounding out the top 10.

Yuki Tsunoda caused a brief red flag in Q1 after clipping the barrier, but managed to emerge from the session. He ended up 11th on the provisional grid, ahead of Alfa Romeo`s Valtteri Bottas in P12. Neither Haas - Kevin Magnussen in P13 and Mick Schumacher P15 - could make it to Q3, with Daniel Ricciardo splitting them in 14th for McLaren, according to a report on the F1 website.

Tsunoda`s brush with the barriers at the chicane and resultant red flag saw Alfa Romeo`s Zhou Guanyu miss out on a final chance to set a flying lap and qualify 20th. Neither Williams - Alex Albon in P16 by just 0.07s in Q1 and Nicholas Latifi in P19 - made it to Q2.

Between those Williams were AlphaTauri`s Pierre Gasly in 17th - another who was caught out by the red flag - and a frustrated Lance Stroll in 18th for Aston Martin.
