Indian prime minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new ensign of the country’s Navy at the commissioning ceremony of INS Vikrant on Friday. INS Vikrant is India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier which was designed by Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited.&nbsp;

The new ensign of the Indian Navy features the tricolour of the national flag and it will no longer feature Saint George's cross – a constant feature of Navy flags since the pre-independence era.&nbsp;

Modi, in his speech, touched on the topic and said that with this&nbsp;Navy Ensign (Nishaan), "India has shed its colonial past". 
 
"Till today Indian Naval flags carried a sign of slavery which has been replaced with a new one inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," he said according to the news agency PTI.&nbsp;

"It was removed from the flag during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government between 2001 to 2004 but soon after Sonia Gandhi-led UPA came back to power, they brought it back citing certain issues raised by the then Navy officials," the announcer during the commissioning event told the attendees. &nbsp;

The flag also features a homage to legendary Indian warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji.&nbsp;

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Friday that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station has sustained major damages to its “physical integrity” due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. That has resulted in constant conflicts between the two sides and it has been detrimental to the plant’s infrastructure.&nbsp;

The 35-year-old Brazilian man was taken into custody after he pointed a gun at Kirchner while she was greeting supporters outside her home.&nbsp;

According to the Argentinian newspaper Clarín, the entire incident was captured by television reporters who were covering the supporters gathered outside Kircher’s house in support of the vice-president.

The documents claimed that 25 such fires were reported by the customers and it was mainly due to the fan motors. Twelve out of them ended up causing massive damage to the cars while in one instance, the driver reported injuries to their hand and fingers, according to documents accessed by Reuters.&nbsp;

The FBI conducted a raid on Trump’s residence in Florida after a number of witnesses said that there could be documents pertaining to national security and obstruction of justice, an affidavit claimed.&nbsp;

The affidavit, filed by the US Justice Department, also claimed that the FBI found around 700 documents in Mar-a-Lago and they were classified into three categories – Confidential, Secret and Top Secret.&nbsp;

The argument from Trump’s lawyers came one day after&nbsp;the justice department said that the documents were "likely concealed" to obstruct the ongoing investigation by the FBI.&nbsp;

Trump continued to defend his position and also criticised the authorities for deliberately targeting him ahead of the mid-term elections. Trump’s team also argued that as a former president, Trump "continues to have rights related to the assertion of executive privilege”.&nbsp;

However, this argument was called “illogical” by the DOJ who said that Trump "has no property interest in any presidential records (including classified records) seized from the premises,"&nbsp;according to AFP.

The blast dampened the celebrations in Afghanistan as the Taliban regime marked one year of them gaining control of the country once again. With the US forces leaving the country, the Taliban took over and formed a new government in the country plagued by natural disasters and economic crises.

Earlier, Taliban defence minister Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid said that Pakistan is helping the US by giving them access to their airspace to launch drone attacks in Afghanistan.&nbsp;

“The Sri Lankan authorities and the IMF team have reached a staff-level agreement to support the authorities’ economic adjustment and reform policies with a new 48-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) with a requested access of about SDR 2.2 billion (equivalent to US$2.9 billion).”&nbsp;
