Nostradamus Predictions 2024: The French astrologer Michel de Nostradame aka Nostradamus published his book Les Propheties nearly 500 years ago. The infamous books contain 942 forecasts that appear to predict the future.

He is said to have predicted John F Kennedy's assassination, the 9/11 terror attacks and even the start of the coronavirus pandemic, as per interpretations of his writings.

For 2023, he predicted an economic disaster worldwide- “So high will the bushel of wheat rise / That man will be eating his fellow man”, he wrote in one of his quatrains. Though the world was shaken by the economic slowdown post-COVID-19 and the soaring cost of living crisis, the prophecy was a bit of an exaggeration.

But according to many reports, more than 70 per cent of his prophecies have come true so far. Here are some of Nostradamus' predictions for 2024:

Climate catastrophe

The French astrologer has predicted that in 2024 world will witness climate chaos. “The dry earth will grow more parched,” he predicts in one quatrain, “and there will be great floods”.

Elsewhere, he warns of “very great famine through pestiferous wave”, the latter phrase potentially referring to tsunamis destroying agriculture and allowing disease and starvation to take hold. If such predictions turn out to be accurate, we may be in for even more destructive climate events in 2024 than we have seen already.

Naval Confrontation with China

A confrontation around China is something that many geopolitical experts and journalists have started to see in the changing dynamics and rise of China as a global power. In the past, China has showcased its brute force several times in regions around the South China Sea and Taiwan, most of them through its naval ships.

Nostradamus also predicted something similar to this centuries ago. In one of his quatrains, he wrote about “combat and naval battle”. He said that the “Red adversary will become pale with fear. Putting the great Ocean in dread”.

The great ocean here might suggest the Indian Ocean and the phrase ‘red adversary’ is a reference to communist China.

Royal tumult

In one of the quatrains, Nostradamus refers to someone he calls the ‘King of the Isles’, who had a controversial divorce and who is “driven out by force”. Further, he also wrote that this King is replaced by “one who will have no mark of a king”.

The analyst and author, Mario Reading, who complied and wrote the book- The Nostradamus Prophecies, said that with ‘King of the Isles’, Nostradamus might be pointing to King Charles III. He might be forced to abdicate due to “persistent attacks on both himself and his second wife.”

In the same book by Reading, Nostradamus foresaw the death of Queen Elizabeth II in the year 2022.

New young Pope

The current Pope, Pope Francis is currently in his mid-80s and has suffered health problems in the recent past. Nostradamus said in one of his predictions that due to old age, the Pope will be replaced by a new younger Pope.

“Through the death of the very old Pontiff. A Roman of good age will be elected,” he wrote.

While the arrival of a younger, vigorous Pope sounds like a good thing, Nostradamus immediately goes on to say that the new leader will ‘weaken his see’, and that he will be Pope for a long time.

The exact meaning of ‘weaken’ is of course open to debate. Does he mean the influence of the church will somehow lessen or is some greater scandal on the way? That, only time will tell.

However, it's essential to note that his writings, particularly in "Les Prophéties," are written in a cryptic and metaphorical style, that is open to various interpretations. Many of his quatrains are vague and can be applied to different events.

Geminid Meteor Shower 2023: Best Time to Watch It Peak

The Geminid meteor shower is caused by the meteor 3200 Phaeton. The Geminid meteor shower and the Quadrantids meteor shower are the only major showers not caused by a comet but by a meteor and its trails.

Geminid showers have been active since Dec 4 but they will reach their peak on Thursday, Dec 14. The peak of a meteor shower is when during the entire period, one can spot the meteors most distinctively.

Since the radiant rises in mid-evening, you can watch for Geminids from late night to dawn around the peak dates of December 13 and 14. The radiant will be the highest around 2:00 am UTC.

Yes, Geminids can be seen from India on Thursday. When viewed from New Delhi, the meteor shower will begin to make an appearance around 6:53 pm IST on Thursday, Dec 14. They will be visible till dawn break around 6:36 am the next day.

What Makes The Geminid Meteor Shower So Special?

The Geminids are the most active of all the meteor showers Earth encounters every year. They can produce as many as 150 meteors per hour, according to the American Meteor Society.

Orion was sent into space for 25 days, six of which were in orbit around the moon. It reached a distance of 434,500 kilometres (270,000 miles) away, travelling further than any spacecraft designed for humans so far, before plunging into our atmosphere at around 40,000 kilometres per hour (25,000 miles per hour). Hence, it became the first spacecraft designed by humans to reach the farthest into space.

Another first for Orion was its epic re-entry to Earth. It became the first spaceship designed for humans to attempt a “skip” re-entry, bouncing off the atmosphere like an incredibly expensive stone on a lake. This approach helped the craft land consistently at the same site, despite where it first entered the Earth’s atmosphere. Orion’s method of re-entry will play a pivotal role in the Artemis II mission.

“The skip entry will help Orion land closer to the coast of the United States, where recovery crews will be waiting to bring the spacecraft back to land,” Chris Madsen, Orion guidance, navigation, and control subsystem manager, explained in a statement ahead of the launch.

Figs are fruits of the ficus tree, which is part of the mulberry family. They have a unique sweet taste with a soft and chewy texture. They are loaded with nutrients that make them perfect winter fruit.

Figs are a fantastic source of immune-boosting nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin A, and zinc. These nutrients play a pivotal role in enhancing body’s defences against winter ailments like cold and flu.

Figs act as a natural laxative because of the high fibre content in them. They nourish and tone the intestines, feeding the gut bacteria and promoting a healthy gut environment.

Figs, especially the ripe ones, are rich in protective plant compounds called polyphenols, which have high antioxidant properties. They help prevent oxygen from reacting with other chemicals.

Figs are rich in calcium, magnesium and phosphorous and are good source of bone-friendly minerals. They provide good support to bones and even lessen the risk of osteoporosis.

Consuming too much sodium (salt) can lead to a deficiency of potassium and lead to imbalance in blood pressure. Figs naturally increase potassium levels and manage blood pressure.

Naturally high in fibre, figs improve the nutritional density of your diet and in a way help with weight management. High fibre foods provide feeling of fullness, reducing hunger and cravings.
