The Supreme Court on Monday asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to sit together, discuss and come to a conclusion unanimously on the next Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chief, saying that the two constitutional functionaries should rise above ''political bickering''.

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and Manoj Misra said that they will take up the issue and weigh on it again on Thursday. The bench further asked the counsel for the city government and the LG to notify Kejriwal and Saxena of today's development in the court.

“Does everything run through modalities of the Supreme Court? They both are constitutional functionaries. Can’t the LG and Chief Minister sit and come up with a name on which both agree,” the bench asked.

“So much of the work of government happens away from the public eye. We are not so much concerned about DERC Chairperson appointment which will be done. We are on the larger issue. You both can sit together and sort out some issues,” it said, while posting the matter of the DERC Chairperson's appointment for the hearing on Thursday.

CJI, during the hearing, while describing ways to come to a unanimous decision, said that one way was if one functionary gives a list of three names and the other functionary accepts one name. “We don't want to step into this. We want you both to sit down and do this,” the bench added.

“The two constitutional functionaries have to rise above political bickering and they should give a name for the DERC chairperson,” the bench said.

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition that was filed by the Delhi government relating to the appointment of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) Chairperson.

The top court had said on July 4 that it will inspect the constitutional facts of a provision of the Centre's recent rule overseeing appointments, such as that of the DERC chairperson. The Delhi government recently informed the court that the oath-taking of Justice (retd) Umesh Kumar as chief of the national capital's electricity regulatory authority stands shelved.

The bench had remarked that the petition presents a point of law about the validity of Section 45D of the GNCTD Act, as amended by the latest Ordinance issued by the Centre, which gives overriding powers to the Lieutenant Governor over the elected government in the matter of appointments.

India is weighing in on the plans of selling BrahMos missiles to Russia, according to a recent report. This move would be a probable switch of positions between the two strategic allies who had jointly created the powerful weapon.

Atul Dinkar Rane, BrahMos Aerospace CEO and managing director, in a Q&amp;A with The Week, said that his organisation was continuously looking at Russia as a probable market for the air-launched BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, asserting that Russia currently has no equivalent in service.

"The Russian P800 Onyx missile is the precursor of the BrahMos. The BrahMos is a much better version. The P800 was produced in Russia, it still is. They moved from P800 to another area of work and they are happy. We have been continuously looking at Russia as a market for the BrahMos," he said.

“If they had purchased it [before the Ukraine war], they would have had a lot of things to use in the current situation,” Rane said. “After the ongoing situation in Europe ends, we might get some orders from Russia, especially for the air-launched BrahMos,” he added.

Russia could probably use the BrahMos like its P-800 Onyx projectile, which is the Soviet-era precursor of BrahMos. Although the &nbsp;P-800 Onyx is created as an anti-ship missile, it has been employed against ground marks in Ukraine as well as Syria.

As per a report published by The Moscow Times in the month of June, citing Nikkei Asia, Russia had reportedly started to buy back parts for projectiles and tanks that it had earlier sold to India and Myanmar in order to improve its equipment and older weapons that were supposed to be deployed for use in the war against Ukraine.

The Russian defence industry manufacturers were reimporting equipment that they had produced and previously exported to buyers in Asia, according to the report.

Uralvagonzavod, a machine industry firm making tanks for the Russian armed forces, imported nearly $24 million worth of its own products from Myanmar in 2022.

The equipment that was reimported, included around 6,000 sighting telescopes and nearly 200 cameras for installation in tanks, which as per analysts could be used to modernise Russia’s old T-72 tanks currently sitting in storage, according to Nikkei Asia.&nbsp;

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former Pakistan Prime Minister,&nbsp;Imran Khan on Friday said that he will create a new political party to contest the upcoming general elections and will also win them, in the event of a possible ban on his current party, Dawn reported citing Nikkei Asia.

In the wake of violent protests on May 9 in the country, that led to&nbsp;a lot of destruction, and the succeeding clampdown on the demonstrators and the PTI, many authorities had called for a ban on the party.

As per reports, Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had said that putting a ban on the party was the only solution.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said that the move in this direction was being considered. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also said that his party will not defy any move to impose a ban on the PTI.

On being questioned about the impact of a possible ban on his electoral future by Nikkei Asia, Imran said, “If they remove the party then we will form a party with a new name and still win the elections.”

Imran was quoted as saying that “Even if they disqualify me and throw me in jail, the party will still win”.

The PTI chief further underlined to the outlet that his base of supporters “remains intact”, asserting that national politics had “fundamentally changed”.

When asked about the continued crackdown of his party, the former Pak PM said that the government was “still trying to break it through intimidation”.

He further said that the general elections would be “completely discredited” if his party candidates weren't allowed to participate.

“This will make the elections useless and subsequently there will be even more destabilisation in the country,” he was quoted as saying.

Imran Khan sought a guarantee from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the general elections in the country would be held at its scheduled time, according to a report by Geo News, after a delegation of the IMF met Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

Quoting sources, Geo News reported that Khan asked the IMF to ensure that the general elections, scheduled to take place in October, will be held on time. “What guarantee can you (IMF) give that the elections in the country will be held on time,” the PTI chairperson was quoted as saying in the huddle.

During the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, the two sides discussed the recent staff-level pact agreed upon between Pakistan and the global lender, with Khan extending his full support to it.&nbsp;

In an address via a video link, Imran said PTI has agreed to “endorse the standby arrangement” with the IMF until elections were held and a new government was formed.

“Obviously, when a new government comes, they will hold talks with the IMF according to their own programme,” he added.&nbsp;

Apart from Imran, the IMF team met with other PTI members, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shaukat Tarin, Omar Ayub Khan, Sania Nishtar, Shibli Faraz, Taimur Jhagra and Muzammil Aslam.

“We welcome the SBA (standby arrangement) to preserve macroeconomic stability by anchoring external financing and sound policies ahead of the national elections due in the fall of this year and until a new government is formed," said senior PTI leader Hammad Azhar.&nbsp;

Imran Khan vows to form new political party if PTI gets banned

Delhi police registered a case on Sunday over a call to an Air India call centre in Pune on Thursday (July 13) that warned of a hijack threat&nbsp;on a flight scheduled to depart from Delhi to Tel Aviv.

According to the police, the person who made the call to the flag carrier of India said he overheard another person saying that a flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv will be hijacked.

As per news agency ANI reports, as per the FIR filed by Delhi Police, on July 13, a call was received at the Air India call centre in Pune. The caller introduced himself as Anurag from Assam and then said that he overheard a person talking about the hijacking of the Delhi-Tel Aviv flight.

"Following the call threatening the hijacking of an Air India Delhi-Tel Avivi flight, a meeting of the BTAC (Bomb Threat Assessment Committee) was convened at Guwahati airport and a special security committee also met over it from 9:16 am to 11:15 am, on 13 July," the FIR copy mentioned.

Delhi police further said that nothing suspicious had spewed up in the probe into the threat call so far, adding that the investigation was still ongoing.

The case was registered at IGI Airport Police station under Sections 82,341,505(1)(b),507 of the IPC, said police.

Last month, a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Delhi experienced a delay of four hours due to an incident involving a male passenger who had to be deplaned and subsequently arrested for shouting 'hijack' just before take-off.&nbsp;

Following standard operating procedure (SOP), the authorities conducted a search of the plane before granting fresh clearance for departure. A Vistara spokesperson emphasised that the airline immediately informed the authorities and handed over the passenger, identified as Ritesh Sanjaykumar Juneja.&nbsp;

Following a complaint from the flight crew, Juneja was arrested on a Vistara flight scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 6:30 pm.

Juneja claimed to be mentally ill, as reported by the police. An unnamed police officer stated that Juneja attributed his behaviour to mental instability.

Delhi police register case over call warning of possible hijack of flight to Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Sunday (July 16), was discharged from the hospital after doctors said that he was in good health. He was admitted on Saturday for dehydration.

The 73-year-old was taken to Sheba Medical Center on Saturday (July 15) and kept overnight under observation.

As per Reuters reports, his motor convoy was seen leaving Sheba after local media quoted his office as saying he had been discharged.&nbsp;

In a video message recorded inside the hospital, Netanyahu addressed the Israeli public, explaining that his condition may have been caused by spending time in the sun without a hat and sufficient water. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff and the public for their concern and assured everyone that he was feeling well.

"Yesterday I spent some time at the Kinneret with my wife, in the sun, without a hat and without water. Not a good idea," Netanyahu said.

He urged Israelis to "spend less time in the sun" and "drink more water" in the wake of the country's hot weather.

Sheba Medical Center confirmed its original diagnosis of dehydration and released a statement saying that the additional tests involving a subcutaneous Holter had found Netanyahu to be "in complete cardiac health".

"Prime Minister Netanyahu has completed a series of tests and is in excellent condition. Our diagnosis, at the end of all the tests performed, including the laboratory tests, that the reason for the hospitalisation was dehydration. His heart is completely normal, without any findings and he will be released to his home in the next few hours. The medical team decided to perform a series of comprehensive and routine examinations that are performed while fully conscious, including an electrophysiology test of the heart, all of which came out completely normal. At no point was any heart arrhythmia found. In order to continue routine monitoring, we decided to use a subcutaneous Holter, as is customary, to allow the medical professional team of the Prime Minister to continue regular monitoring," Amit Segev, Director of the cardiology unit at Sheba and President of the Cardiology Association in Israel said.

Netanyahu was reelected late last year and his proposed judicial overhaul has triggered weekly protests in the country since the month of January this year.

Butterflies and moths share 'blocks' of DNA that are more than 200 million years old, reveals new research.

A team of scientists from the Universities of Exeter (UK), Lübeck (Germany) and Iwate (Japan) developed a tool in order to compare the chromosomes (DNA molecules) of several butterflies and moths.

They then discovered the blocks of chromosomes&nbsp;that exist in all the species of moths and butterflies and also in Trichoptera, which are aquatic caddisflies that share a common ancestor with moths and butterflies, dating back nearly 230 years ago.

Moths and butterflies, collectively known as Lepidoptera, have widely varying numbers of chromosomes, from 30 to 300, but the research's findings show exceptional proof of shared blocks of homology (similar structure) going back through time.

“DNA is compacted into individual particles or chromosomes that form the basic units of inheritance,” Professor Richard ffrench-Constant, from the Centre for Ecology and Conservation on Exeter’s Penryn Campus in Cornwall said.

“If genes are on the same ‘string’, or chromosome, they tend to be inherited together and are therefore 'linked’".

“However, different animals and plants have widely different numbers of chromosomes, so we cannot easily tell which chromosomes are related to which."

“This becomes a major problem when chromosome numbers vary widely – as they do in the Lepidoptera."

“We found 30 basic units of ‘synteny’ (literally meaning ‘on the same string’ where the string is DNA) that exist in all butterflies and moths, and go back all the way to their sister group the caddisflies or Trichoptera.”

Butterflies, which are often noticed as the key indicators of conservation, have witnessed a decline in their species worldwide due to human activity.

This study shows how butterflies can be useful models for the study of chromosome evolution.

The research also enhances the scientific understanding of how moth and butterfly genes have evolved over time. Also, similar techniques can be deployed to gain insights into the evolution of chromosomes in other groups of animals or plants.&nbsp;

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for North Bengal and Sikkim.&nbsp;

With the rise in the water level of major rivers in the north-eastern state, the situation worsened on Friday affecting around 67,000 people in 17 districts.

Thousands of people in the Basbari area of Assam's Bongaigaon district were forced to take shelter on roads after flood waters of the Aie River submerged their homes.

The people in the area are facing massive issues including food crisis, drinking water and many of them have become homeless.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday morning said that the authorities were releasing excess water from Kurichu dam in Bhutan.

"The excess water is being carefully redirected through the gates to control the flow. According to reports, the weather in the upstream of the plant has improved since yesterday. Therefore the amount of water coming in may not be huge. We are closely monitoring the situation," Sarma said.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the water level of the Brahmaputra River was flowing above the danger level mark at Dhubri, Neamatighat in Jorhat district, Beki River at Road Bridge, Disang River at Nanglamuraghat in Sivasagar district.

The locals of the Basbari area in Assam's Bongaigaon district, are fighting with massive river erosion issues.

As per news agency ANI reports, the Aie River swallowed a market area, as many as 40 houses, one temple, one Mosque and several bighas of agricultural lands.

Naruttam Mazumdar, a resident of the Basbari area told ANI that, in the last two years the people of the area had to face massive problems.

"Around 30-40 families have lost their homes due to river erosion and many of them left this area. My house is also located nearby the river. I am also now fearing that, the river will swallow my house and due to this reason, I am now destroying my house. Where, we will go, where we will live. Maximum villagers of this area are labourers and few villagers are engaged in small business," Naruttam Mazumdar said.

On the other hand, Saddam Hussain, a resident of Basbari village said that people are now facing lots of problems.

"More than 30 houses were submerged due to river erosion. Earlier, the river swallowed the temple, mosque of this area and many bighas of agricultural land. People of this area are now living in fear," Saddam Hussain said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the situation in Assam's Lakhimpur district deteriorated after several new areas were swamped affecting around 60,300 people.

Dozens of Indian-Americans took to the streets in San Francisco, where they held a peace rally in front of the Indian Consulate to express support for India after the diplomatic facility was set on fire by Khalistan supporters.

As per PTI reports, a video showing the act of arson at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco was shared by Khalistan supporters on Twitter on July 2. This was the second such act of violence within months.

Indian-Americans from in and around San Francisco came out in solidarity with India as they held a rally in front of the&nbsp;Indian Consulate in San Francisco against the attack.

The demonstrators called it an act of terrorism further demanding authorities to take strict action against the ones responsible for the arson.

<h2>Indian consulate in San Francisco set on fire by Khalistani extremists</h2>

The Indian consulate in San Francisco was again attacked by Khalistani extremists on July 2. In the second attack within five months, the extremists briefly set the consulate on fire, before it was promptly suppressed by the San Francisco Fire Department.

The incident drew condemnation from the US State Department.&nbsp;

Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US State Department, condemned the attack and tweeted that attacking a diplomatic facility in the US was a criminal offence.&nbsp;

“The US strongly condemns the reported vandalism and attempted arson against the Indian Consulate in San Francisco on Saturday. Vandalism or violence against diplomatic facilities or foreign diplomats in the US is a criminal offence,” he wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, on March 19, in a similar attack, a group of pro-Khalistan protesters damaged the Indian Consulate in San Francisco.

This resulted in severe criticism from both the Indian government and the Indian-American community.&nbsp;

The protesters, chanting pro-Khalistan slogans, breached the makeshift security barriers set up by the local police and proceeded to place two Khalistani flags inside the Consulate premises. The flags were removed by two consulate personnel soon.&nbsp;

Jaishankar’s discussions with Wang Yi also covered EAS/ARF agenda, BRICS and the Indo-Pacific.

Following their meeting, the Indian external affairs minister took to Twitter and said, "Just concluded meeting with Director Wang Yi of the Office of the CPC Central Commission for Foreign Affairs. Wang, a former Chinese foreign minister, is attending the ASEAN plus meetings in Jakarta as the incumbent foreign minister Qin Gang is unwell.

As per Japan-based Kyodo News reports, China released a statement saying that its Foreign Minister Qin Gang will not be able to make it to the ASEAN meetings due to "health reasons".

<h2>India should meet China 'halfway': Wang Yi </h2>

The Chinese foreign ministry on Saturday said that Wang Yi urged India to focus on "common interests" and meet China "halfway" to defuse border tensions between the neighbouring countries.

"China and India's common interests clearly outweigh their differences," Wang Yi told Indian foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, when the two met Friday.

"The two sides should support each other, rather than... suspect each other," Wang added.

"It is hoped that the Indian side will meet China halfway and find a solution to the border issue that is acceptable to both sides," Wang said.

The ministry statement added that both countries have agreed on holding the next round of military commander-level talks on the border issue "as soon as possible".

In 2020, India sought to limit investments from China as political tensions heightened between them.

"China is highly concerned about India's recent restrictive measures against Chinese companies," Wang added, while urging New Delhi to provide a "fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment".

For more than three years, India has been locked in a military standoff with China. Jaishankar dubs it the most complex challenge of his long diplomatic career.

Both countries have faced border disputes since 1962, with the latest one being in 2020 when Indian and Chinese forces engaged in a fight in the Galwan Valley.

Earlier, in the month of May, while clarifying India's stance on the issues, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that the two countries can't be normal until peace and tranquillity are maintained on the Land of Actual 
Control (LAC).

"I have made it very clear, publicly as well, that India-China relations are not normal and cannot be normal if peace and tranquillity in the border areas are disturbed..."&nbsp;

Jaishankar said. "I have been very consistent about it and I have not changed my position in this meeting either," he added.

A single can contains 200 milligrams of caffeine - far more than the 30 milligrams in a can of Coca-Cola, for example, or the 80 milligrams in a can of Red Bull.&nbsp;

A launch video showed the two internet stars playing video games and table tennis, very slowly and without enthusiasm at first, then frantically after drinking the beverage.&nbsp;

Since then, many TikTok videos have featured children proudly brandishing the famous bottles, set to a musical background proclaiming "We got Prime, boys!"

However, medical experts warn about the risks of younger children consuming caffeine.&nbsp;

Children under the age of twelve should not consume the chemical at all, according to the American Academy for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).&nbsp;

In addition to restlessness, anxiety and headaches, too much caffeine can cause a child to vomit or to suffer from high blood pressure or heart rhythm problems, according to the AACAP. Some children may be more sensitive than others.

"This product has one true target market: children under the age of 18, and that is why I am sounding the alarm," said top Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer last week.

Prime Energy comes in Flavors that might attract younger kids, such as orange-mango and raspberry-melon.

But the drink contains "eye-popping levels of caffeine for a child’s body," the Senate majority leader said.&nbsp;

The refreshment is fashionable because "it is born from the reels of social media and the enigmatic world of influencers," the senator said in a statement.

Schumer announced he had written to the head of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), demanding an investigation into the levels of caffeine the drink contains and the marketing strategy adopted.&nbsp;

The FDA responded this week that it is "reviewing the concerns" raised by the senator, and that it would respond to him directly.&nbsp;

"We encourage caregivers and families to read a product’s label before giving the product to their child," an FDA spokesperson said in a statement.

The can does feature a discreet line indicating that the drink is not recommended for those under 18, though the warning may not be obvious to everyone planning to pop one open.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The FDA, which has already issued warnings in the past against several companies marketing both alcoholic and caffeinated beverages, noted that adults can generally consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day without harmful effects, or four to five cups of coffee.

Paul partially responded to the controversy in a video posted to social media on Thursday.&nbsp;

He said he was offended by articles in some media that reported that Canada had recalled Prime Energy cans, though the move was only an action against illegal imports, as the drink is not officially distributed there.&nbsp;

"Prime formulas are complying with each specific country's regulatory bodies," he said.&nbsp;

"Actually, it doesn't surprise me that we're being targeted by massive corporate conglomerates and the United States government," he said, claiming "We've effectively created a beverage so disruptive that it is eating the market shares of the biggest companies on the planet!"

The energy drink market is buoyant and expanding, and US supermarket shelves are stocked with several brands.&nbsp;

In its first year of operations, Prime sold $250 million worth of products, Paul had previously said in an interview.

Viral caffeine-heavy drink raises concerns for US kids

The United States on Wednesday released a statement saying that it "strongly condemns" North Korea's latest ballistic projectile launch and also urged Pyongyang to end its destabilising actions and come to the table for negotiations.&nbsp;

"This launch is a brazen violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions and needlessly raises tensions and risks destabilizing the security situation in the region," National Security Council spokesperson Adam Hodge said in a statement.

South Korea's military said that North Korea fired a long-range ballistic missile in a lofted trajectory from the Pyongyang area at about 10:00 am (0100 GMT).

The missile launch happened after North Korea cautioned the United States to shoot down the spy planes that violated its airspace.

Currently, the relations between both the Korean countries are facing a setback with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un calling for increased weapon development, including tactical nukes.

The latest test launch "demonstrates that the DPRK continues to prioritize its unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs over the well-being of its people," Hodge said.

"We urge all countries to condemn these violations and call on the DPRK to come to the table for serious negotiations," the spokesman added.

"The door has not closed on diplomacy, but Pyongyang must immediately cease its destabilizing actions and instead choose diplomatic engagement," he continued, stressing the United States will "take all necessary measures" to ensure its security and that of its allies South Korea and Japan. &nbsp;

Pyongyang further released a statement and slammed United States' plan to deploy strategic nuclear assets to the Korean peninsula as "the most undisguised nuclear blackmail" to North Korea which poses a grave threat to global and regional security.

"The present situation clearly proves that the situation of the Korean peninsula is coming closer to the threshold of nuclear conflict due to the US provocative military action," it stated.

"Whether the extreme situation, desired by nobody, is created or not on the Korean peninsula depends on the future action of the US, and if any sudden situation happens ... the US will be held totally accountable for it," it added.

United States 'strongly condemns' North Korea ballistic missile launch, says White House

Hackers suspected of working for Russia's foreign intelligence agency targeted dozens of diplomats at embassies in Ukraine with a fake used car advert in a bid to break into their computers, according to a cybersecurity firm report published on Wednesday.

The wide-reaching espionage activity targeted diplomats working in at least 22 of the roughly 80 foreign missions in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, analysts at Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 research division said in the report.

"The campaign began with an innocuous and legitimate event," said the report, which was first reported by Reuters.

"In mid-April 2023, a diplomat within the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emailed a legitimate flyer to various embassies advertising the sale of a used BMW 5-series sedan located in Kyiv".

The Polish diplomat, who declined to be identified citing security concerns, confirmed the role of his advertisement in the digital intrusion.

The hackers, known as APT29 or "Cozy Bear", intercepted and copied that flyer, embedded it with malicious software, then sent it to dozens of other foreign diplomats working in Kyiv, Unit 42 said.

"This is staggering in scope for what generally are narrowly scoped and clandestine advanced persistent threat (APT) operations," said the report, using an acronym often used to describe state-backed cyberespionage groups.

In 2021, U.S. and British intelligence agencies identified APT29 as an arm of Russia's foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR. The SVR did not respond to a request from Reuters for comment about the hacking campaign.

In April, Polish counterintelligence and cybersecurity authorities warned that the same group had conducted a "widespread intelligence campaign" against NATO member states, the European Union, and Africa.

Researchers at Unit 42 were able to tie the fake car advert back to the SVR because the hackers re-used certain tools and techniques which have previously been connected to the spy agency.

"Diplomatic missions will always be a high-value espionage target," the Unit 42 report said. "Sixteen months into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, intelligence surrounding Ukraine and allied diplomatic efforts are almost certainly a high priority for the Russian government".

<h2>Advertisement for used BMW&nbsp;</h2>

The Polish diplomat said he had sent the original advert to various embassies in Kyiv, and that someone had called him back because the price looked "attractive".

"When I checked, I realised they were talking about a slightly lower price," the diplomat told Reuters.

SVR hackers, it turns out, had listed the diplomat's BMW for a lower price - 7,500 euros - in their fake version of the advert, in an attempt to encourage more people to download malicious software that would give them remote access to their devices, Reuters found.

That software, Unit 42 said, was disguised as an album of photographs of the used BMW. Attempts to open those photographs would have infected the target's machine, the report said.

Twenty-one of the 22 embassies targeted by the hackers and subsequently contacted by Reuters did not provide comment. It was not clear which embassies, if any, had been compromised.

A U.S. State Department spokesperson said they were "aware of the activity and based on the Directorate of Cyber and Technology Security's analysis found it did not affect Department systems or accounts."

As for the car, it was still available, the Polish diplomat told Reuters:

"I'll try to sell it in Poland, probably," he said. "After this situation, I don't want to have any more problems".
