In a shocking incident, a man in Bosnia shot dead his ex-wife and streamed the killing live on his Instagram account. While on the run, he killed two other people before killing himself on Friday to avoid being apprehended, the Associated Press reported citing police.

Police in the city of Tuzla, while sharing details of the attack, in a statement said that the incident occurred in the northeastern Bosnian town of Gradacac, where the assailant injured three people before he “committed suicide after being located and before being apprehended."

As per the prosecutors, after killing the woman, the man ran onto the streets of Gradacac with a gun where he shot dead a man along with his son. The other three people that he injured included a police officer, another woman and a man at various locations in the town.

“I have no words to describe what happened today in Gradacac,” said Nermin Niksic, the prime minister of the Bosnian Federation. “The murderer took his own life in the end, but no one can bring back the lives of the victims.”

<h2>Attacker had past&nbsp;police record </h2>

The motive behind the attack is not yet clear. However, as per officials and Bosnian media, the ex-wife of the assailant, in the past, had reported threats and violence from her husband. The attacker, who was identified as Gradacac resident Nermin Sulejmanovic by the local media, previously had a police record.

Before committing the heinous crime, the man had posted a video on his Instagram on Friday morning telling his followers that they would witness a murder live.

As per media reports, the video showed the man firing a bullet at his wife as a child's cries are heard from somewhere close by. It was later taken down from the social media platform.

As the police chased him, he live-streamed two more videos, claiming to have shot at least two other people while on the run.&nbsp;

According to the officials, approximately 12,000 people watched the killing live and the video received 126 likes.

“This is a huge shame for our society,” the AP quoted Bosnian Human Rights Minister Sevid Hurtic as saying.&nbsp;

As per Bosnian media reports, 35-year-old Sulejmanovic was a bodybuilder and fitness coach, who was in the past arrested on charges of drug smuggling and attacking a police officer.

In recent times, several organisations in the United States, from healthcare groups to manufacturing firms and government institutions, have been a victim of hacking attacks.&nbsp;

Neuberger's comments about artificial intelligence were somewhat similar to those made by Canada's cybersecurity head Samy Khoury last month.

"Our goal with the DARPA AI challenge is to catalyze a larger community of cyber defenders who use the participating AI models to race faster – using generative AI to bolster our cyber defences," Neuberger said.

The Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF), a US group of experts attempting to enhance open source software security, will be in charge of guaranteeing the "winning software code is put to use right away," the US government said.

White House to launch AI-based contest aimed at fixing flaws in security systems

In the latest mass-shooting incident to rock South Africa, on Friday, at least four gunmen forcefully entered a house in a township situated near the eastern city of Durban and claimed the lives of four people. Two were killed inside the main building, one in a backroom and another near an outside toilet, said the police.

On Saturday, the police released a statement saying that they have launched a "massive manhunt" for the assailants who shot six people dead over a missing identity card. &nbsp;&nbsp;

According to police spokesman Robert Netshiunda, preliminary investigations showed the suspected ringleader demanded his identity document from the victims before shooting them.

"It is believed that he was implicated and is wanted by police for another murder in which he allegedly dropped his identity document accidentally," Netshiunda said.

Last week, five people were killed in the South African city of Cape Town after a strike by mini-bus taxi drivers turned violent.

A British doctor was also shot dead after taking a wrong turn during the demonstrations.

The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) had announced a one-week provincial shutdown after failing to resolve various issues with the local government in Cape Town.

The strike ended on Saturday, after the taxi association came to an agreement with city officials.

The protests by the drivers began on Aug 3 in response to what they described as "heavy-handed tactics" against them by police and city authorities.

"Taxi operators were caught by law agencies where there were exchanges of gunfire, so it really was unpleasant. There have been losses of life, losses of income and families' livelihoods for a week of the month when people are already living as it is on the breadline in many of those communities. Then the larger geopolitical and international costs to Cape Town and South Africa is that we've seen as a result of the taxi-related violence travel advisories from various countries," said Rob Quintas, mayoral committee member for the Urban Mobility City of Cape Town.

On Wednesday (9 Aug), Rzheussky confirmed that the very first direct flight between Minsk, the capital of Belarus and Delhi, India would commence on August 12.

As per news agency ANI reports, the Ambassador said that a lot of efforts were made to launch a regular flight service between Belarus and India and that the service will commence on August 12.

"It was not the easy way. For the last couple of years, we did our routine job just to fulfil this project into life. And now I am proudly announcing that at the end of this week (on Saturday) the first ever scheduled flight from Minsk to India will take place," he said.

Further underlining the importance of this flight service in terms of business and tourism, he stated its schedule, which begins on August 11 (local time), begins from a weekly flight with the departure from Minsk on Fridays. In return, the flight will depart from Delhi on Saturdays.&nbsp;

Earlier, Belarusian Airline Belavia released a press release where its Director General Igor Cherginets said: “We know that passengers have been looking forward to the opening of this flight. Our specialists have been working hard for a long time to fulfil the travellers' wishes. I can firmly say that this is one of the most interesting destinations in the route network of the airline. We have solved the problem of those, who have long dreamed to dive into the Indian flavour and experience the culture of another country, but were not ready to set out on a long journey with layovers.”

“Now, to travel to India all you have to do is buy one ticket, take a good mood and get on the plane, and we will take you to new emotions. We also expect that the launch of flights between Minsk and Delhi will foster the development of cooperation between Belarus and India” Cherginets said in a release.

On being asked about his suspension along with four other opposition MPs, he said, "there is a deliberate design by the ruling party to throttle the voice of the opposition by resorting to various unsavoury instruments which should not be applied to me."

"But with all respect to the chair of the House, I must say that I cannot contradict the direction of the chair. But if I find that this kind of situation could be resolved by court, I may try also to it," said the Congress MP from West Bengal's Baharampur constituency.

He said consultations are on about whether to move the Supreme Court or not. "I may move the court soon," Chowdhury said.

Hundreds of thousands of activists in South Korea took to the streets in central Seoul on Saturday to stage a demonstration against Japan's decision to discharge treated radioactive water from the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean.

The march came after Japan's Asahi Shimbun daily, earlier this week, reported that Tokyo is planning to begin discharging the water into the ocean as early as late August, citing unidentified government sources.

"If it is discarded, radioactive substances contained in the contaminated water will eventually destroy the marine ecosystem," said Choi Kyoungsook of Korea Radiation Watch, an activist group that organised the protest.

"We are opposed... because we believe the sea is not just for the Japanese government, but for all of us and for mankind."

Demonstrators held up signboards saying "Keep It Inland" and "Protect the Pacific Ocean!" while singing songs and listening to rally organisers.

Last month, Japan's nuclear regulator permitted plant operator Tokyo Electric Power to begin releasing the water into the ocean, which as per &nbsp;Japan and the International Atomic Energy Agency is safe, but neighbouring countries have raised concerns that it may contaminate food.

"There is talk that the dumping of contaminated water is on the summit agenda. The governments of South Korea, the U.S., and Japan should view it an environmental disaster, rather than a political issue, and agree to block it... for future generations," Choi Kyoungsook of Korea Radiation Watch said.

<h2>Biden to host Japan, South Korean leaders</h2>

United States President Joe Biden is set to host &nbsp;Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol for a trilateral summit at Camp David in Maryland on Aug. 18, the White House said in a statement.

"The three leaders will discuss expanding trilateral cooperation across the Indo-Pacific and beyond – including to address the continued threat posed by (North Korea) and to strengthen ties with ASEAN and the Pacific Islands," White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

At Camp David, a storied presidential retreat in the mountains of western Maryland, the three leaders will "advance a shared trilateral vision for addressing global and regional security challenges, promoting a rules-based international order, and bolstering economic prosperity," Jean-Pierre said.

'Jayalalithaa's saree was pulled in assembly,' recalls Nirmala Sitharaman, hits back at DMK on women's safety

As per a recent release of data, the NHS waiting lists in England have ascended to record high numbers, despite Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's pledge to bring them down this year.

This was one of the five promises Sunak made earlier this year in his first major speech of 2023.

The figures published by NHS England this morning revealed an estimated 7.6 million people were waiting to start treatment at the end of June this year, which is slightly up from the numbers recorded in the month of May which were 7.5 million.

These are the highest numbers ever reported since the records began in the year 2007.

During his speech at the beginning of this year, Sunak had said, “NHS waiting lists will fall and people will get the care they need more quickly.”

The NHS data also showed that the total number of people, who had been waiting for more than 52 weeks to start routine hospital treatment at the end of June, had gone down from 385,022 to 383,083.

At the end of June, the estimated figure to have been waiting for more than 18 months was 7,177, as compared to 11,446, which was recorded at the end of May.

Both the government and NHS England had aimed at eliminating waitings of more than 18 months by April 2023, except for the complex cases.

The revelation of the figures comes after the NHS declared that the patients impacted by backlogs could bypass the queue at their local hospital if they are ready to travel to other parts of England.

“We must use every available resource to deliver life-saving checks to ease pressure on the NHS,” PA Media quoted Health Secretary Steve Barclay as saying.

The Royal College of Nursing's (RCN) chief nursing officer Nicola Ranger warned the health service “is falling into a deeper crisis”.

“A decade of underinvestment in the NHS has led to dire consequences for patients and pushed many nursing staff out of the profession they love and with unrelenting pressure on those who remain,” she added.

The strikes by junior doctors have also impacted the waiting lists.

NHS England released a statement saying that, in the month of June this year, three days of junior doctors' strikes led to 106,120 postponements.

"To date, around 778,000 hospital appointments across the NHS have been rescheduled due to strike action," it further added,

Junior doctors would be staging their fifth strike in the dispute on Friday, where they will be walking out for four days from 7 am.

He said that the productivity of the Lok Sabha is registered at around 45 per cent and Rajya Sabha at 63 per cent.

"Parliament concluded today. It commenced on July 20 and today on August 11, Friday, it concluded. A total of 17 sittings were held in 23 days. A total of 20 bills were introduced in Lok Sabha, and 5 bills were tabled in Rajya Sabha," the Union Minister said.

"A total of 22 bills were passed in the Lok Sabha, 25 Bills in the Rajya Sabha and 23 Bills were passed in both Houses," he said, further adding that the three bills of Home Ministry to replace the IPC, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act have been sent to Home Standing Committee.&nbsp;

"We have been able to pass a few bills during the session that witnessed some lively and animated debate. We could take questions on a few occasions but I feel that the productivity of the question hour could have been much better," he said.

Some of the noteworthy bills that were passed were the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023, Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, and the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill-2023.

"In Lok Sabha, the honourable home minister for more than an hour reflected only on Manipur. The honourable prime minister in his discourse focussed on Manipur and indicated to the nation a soothing and healing touch. Now ponder what have we lost and what have we got?" Dhankhar told the House.

The chairman further said, "This House on account of unruly conduct, and indecorous behaviour could not avail the historic opportunity of guiding the Lok Sabha on Manipur and that was on account of our actions. This was very painful. Once again we yielded to the allure of narrow interest, and allowed disorder to be the new normal in the proceedings of the House."

Monsoon session concludes with 45 per cent productivity in Lok Sabha and 63 per cent in Rajya Sabha

A Nepali Congress MP from Kathmandu was arrested, on Thursday, for allegedly possessing fake academic certificates by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).&nbsp;

Sunil Sharma, who was elected from the Morang-3 constituency, was arrested on charges of forgery related to his educational certificates, Nepal Police spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat said.&nbsp;

As per local media reports, Sharma who is also a medical professional and runs a hospital, was charged with a similar case nearly seven years ago.

"He was arrested because he demanded the resignation of Home and Finance Ministers over a gold smuggling case," Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Nar Singh KC alleged.&nbsp;

"Why did the police drop the investigation seven years back against Sharma and why are they digging out now," he asked.

Sharma is a verbal critic of Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Finance Minister Prakash Sharan for their alleged involvement in the gold smuggling case. Shrestha belongs to the CPN (Maoist Center), whereas Mahat is from the Nepali Congress.&nbsp;

Last month, on July 18, Nepal police had seized around 100 kg of gold near the Kathmandu airport.&nbsp;

After the confiscation by the police, Sharma released a statement accusing the Home and Finance Ministries saying that such a quantity of the precious metal cannot be smuggled from Hong Kong to Kathmandu without the involvement of ministries.

After the arrest, Sharma was taken into custody under Article 103 (6) of the Constitution of Nepal, the CIB informed House Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire.

The CIB further said that the MP was arrested as per the law since the probe was considered necessary on the charge of possession of fake academic certificates.

Some of the doctors in Nepal have allegedly obtained registration from Nepal Medical Council by submitting fake academic certificates from India and have then attended exams conducted by the Council for registration certificates, said CIB.

The Bureau further added that at least seven doctors, who used fake academic certificates to pursue MBBS, were also arrested on Thursday and Friday. Similarly, Sharma's certificate of I.Sc. was 'not verified' by the National Examinations Board, news agency IANS reported citing CIB.

Nepali Congress MP arrested for allegedly possessing fake academic certificates

Stockholm's foreign minister and a diplomatic source released a statement on Thursday saying that an attacker threw a Molotov cocktail at Sweden's embassy in Beirut following recent incidents involving burnings and desecrations of Islam's holy book Quran.

"We confirm that there was a Molotov cocktail thrown at the facade of our embassy last evening, which did not explode," a diplomatic source at the embassy said, requesting anonymity as they were not authorised to talk to the media.

The "perpetrator managed to run away", the source added.

Tensions have escalated between Sweden and Muslim countries after several protests involving public desecration of the Quran were reported in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Lebanon witnessed demonstrations at mosques, while the chief of the pro-Iran Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah called for the Swedish ambassador to be removed from his position.

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom said&nbsp;"it was sheer luck that no one was injured" in Wednesday's attack and that staff were safe.

"The incident is currently being investigated," he said in a statement on Thursday, noting that "Lebanese authorities have an obligation under the Vienna Convention to protect diplomatic missions".

Late last month, two Iraqi men had set a copy of the Quran alight outside the Swedish parliament in Stockholm.

Salwan Momika and Sakwan Najem allegedly kicked and stomped on the holy book, then proceeded to set its pages on fire before slamming it shut, just like in a protest outside Stockholm's main mosque in late June. It had sparked outrage and condemnations across West Asia.

The same duo was also involved in a protest outside Iraq's embassy in Stockholm on July 20. On that day, they stomped on the holy book but did not burn it.

<h2>Turkey urges Sweden to take steps</h2>

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, last month, urged Sweden to take substantial steps to stop incidents related to the burning of the Quran, as per a Turkish foreign ministry source.

Denmark's government late last month said it would put legal limitations in order to stop the demonstrations involving the burning of Islam's holy book Quran in certain circumstances, citing security concerns.

"The burnings are deeply offensive and reckless acts committed by few individuals. These few individuals do not represent the values the Danish society is built on," Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said separately in a statement.

"The Danish government will therefore explore the possibility of intervening in special situations where, for instance, other countries, cultures, and religions are being insulted, and where this could have significant negative consequences for Denmark, not least with regard to security," he said.

"This must of course be done within the framework of the constitutionally protected freedom of expression and in a manner that does not change the fact that freedom of expression in Denmark has a very broad scope," the Danish foreign ministry said in a statement.
