The Indian Navy on Monday (Dec 25) said that MV Chem Pluto, carrying 21 Indians and one Vietnamese crew, which was earlier reported as attacked by a suspected drone on Saturday (Dec 23), reached Mumbai and was safely anchored at Outer Anchorage off India's financial capital.

On its arrival, the Indian Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team inspected the vessel to make a preliminary assessment of the type and nature of the attack.

"Analysis of the area of attack and debris found on the ship points towards a drone attack. However, further forensic and technical analysis will be required to establish the vector of attack, including type and amount of explosive used," the Indian Navy said in a statement.

"A Joint Investigation by various agencies has commenced on completion of the analysis by the Navy's Explosive Ordnance Team," the statement further added.

MV Chem Pluto has been cleared for further operation by her company-in-charge in Mumbai. The ship is scheduled to undergo mandatory checks by the various inspecting authorities before undertaking Ship to Ship (STS) transfer of cargo. This is likely to be followed by docking and repairs of the damaged portion of MV Chem Pluto, the Indian Navy said.

As per Reuters, a Hamas official recently visited Cairo and declined to directly comment on specific offers of more temporary humanitarian truces and indicated the group's rejection by reiterating its official stance on the matter.

"Hamas seeks to end the Israeli aggression against our people, the massacres and genocide, and we discussed with our Egyptian brothers the ways to do that," the official told Reuters.

"We also said that the aid for our people must keep going and must increase and it must reach all the population in the north and the south," the official added.

"The attacks were well-coordinated. Not fewer than 20 different communities were attacked by the bandits," he said.

"We have recovered 113 dead bodies from those communities. We have recovered more than 300 injured."

Kassah did not say who was responsible for the attacks. He added that the injured had been taken to hospital.

Plateau police spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Plateau is one of several ethnically and religiously diverse hinterland states known as Nigeria's Middle Belt, where inter-communal conflict has claimed hundreds of lives in recent years.

Yahya Sinwar releases first public message since Oct 7, says Hamas facing ‘unprecedented battle’

The airplane with around 300 Indian passengers on board detained near Paris over suspicions of human trafficking landed in Mumbai, India, on Tuesday&nbsp; (Dec 26) at 4 am.

"The plane, which had been grounded since Thursday, departed shortly after 14:30 pm (local time),” BFM TV, a French news broadcast television and radio network, reported.

However, of the 303 Indian passengers, only 276 have likely returned, while the rest have applied for asylum and have been transferred to a special zone in Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport for asylum-seekers.

The flight that took off from Dubai, UAE, carrying 303 passengers, and was headed to Nicaragua, was grounded at the Vatry airport, 150 km east of Paris, on Thursday (Dec 21).

The French authorities on Sunday gave a go-ahead to the Airbus A340 to resume its journey after questioning the passengers for two days.

The local prefecture, on Monday, confirmed that the plane would indeed take off "but not before noon".

As per the Marne prefecture, the plane had 276 passengers on board. Out of those 25, including two minors, applied for asylum and were still on French soil.

Two others were brought before a judge on Monday and were released and placed on assisted witness status, news agency PTI reported citing BFM TV reports.

Earlier, the airplane was scheduled to depart around 10 in the morning.

Airline's lawyer, Liliana Bakayoko, while talking to BFMTV said that earlier the situation was very confusing as some passengers had refused to return to their country of origin.

"Some of the passengers would be unhappy with this return because they wanted to continue their journey to Nicaragua as planned,” the French news broadcast television and radio network reported.

"We are very relieved. We were impatiently waiting for this,” the lawyer for the airline was quoted as saying by the channel.

The lawyer added that the company will continue to be "available to investigators", and "will seek damages from its client because it has suffered significant harm".

Plane with Indians grounded in France lands in Mumbai, only 276 passengers return

The holy city of Ayodhya in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for the grand inauguration of the Ram Mandir.

The Indian Navy, responding to the missile strike incident that occurred in the Arabian Sea on MT Chem Pluto on Saturday (Dec 23), diverted a maritime patrol aircraft operating in the area while undertaking routine surveillance.&nbsp;

It also diverted the Indian naval ship Mormugao to assess the situation and provide assistance to MT Chem Pluto.

"The naval maritime patrol aircraft overflew MT Chem Pluto at 1315 h on 23 Dec and established contact with the crew. The crew reported all 22 crew members to be safe and that the fire had been extinguished. Navy also communicated details of the developing situation to all Indian maritime agencies for rendering necessary assistance," the Indian Navy said in a statement.

"Indian Naval Ship Mormugao communicated with MT Chem Pluto at 1930 h on 23 Dec 23 to ascertain if any assistance was required. CGS Vikram, also present at the scene, was directed to escort the vessel to Mumbai. Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialist will be embarking MV Chem Pluto on arrival at Mumbai to sanitise the vessel and undertake further investigation," it further said in a statement.

In the incident, which transpired on Saturday (Dec 23), there were no casualties reported. However, there was a brief fire onboard the tanker which was successfully extinguished.

The incident involving the MV Chem Pluto is crucial as it led to the Pentagon openly accusing Tehran of its misdoings, by directly targeting ships, for the first time.

Notably, this incident follows a similar suspected drone attack on an Israeli-owned cargo ship in the Indian Ocean last month. The Red Sea attacks during the Israel-Hamas war have led major shipping firms to reroute vessels around the southern tip of Africa due to heightened security concerns.

Amid the evolving situation, an official from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard warned of the potential forced "closure of other waterways" as well in case Israel fails to stop the ongoing war with the Hamas militant group.

Iran summons Russian envoy, registers displeasure over statement on disputed Gulf islands

Pope Francis on Sunday lamented that Jesus' message of peace was being drowned out by the "futile logic of war" in the very land where he was born, as the pontiff led the world's Roman Catholics into Christmas.
