The Oscar-winning film changes the idea of a timeless romance between a sex worker and a rich person (seen frequently in films like Pretty Woman in the past), Anora rips the fantasy of true love saving a person. Instead, the film starring Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn draws attention to the transactional nature of class disparities.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Romance isn't on the cards and that's what makes the premise of the Ed Helms and Patti Harrison-starrer unexpected. The story is built around Matt and Anna, who meet for a very specific purpose - surrogacy. And as a result, the 2021 release prioritises platonic love and focusses on self-discovery. It also shatters the age-old notion that co-dependent relationships are the only the peak of romance.&nbsp;Unlike many movies that take lies as the ultimate climax, Kristoffer Borgli's recent film, The Drama, places a shocking confession at the heart of its story. With a moral anchor in place, the Zendaya and Robert Pattinson-starrer challenges the notion that love conquers all. In fact, it takes all the hopeful tropes of a wedding planning and replaces them with moral complexity, extreme confusion and awkwardness. While for most people, rom-coms ride high on aspirational fantasy, this one plays out as a dark and anxiety-inducing black comedy.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Having been a part of television and films for years, actor Kunickaa Sadanand is ready to take on another challenge with Bigg Boss. But her initial reaction to being approached for the Salman Khan-hosted show was something different.&nbsp;&nbsp;“In the initial stages when they contacted me, I was like nahi yaar, mai kaha se fit houngi isme.&nbsp;But my kids encouraged me. They reminded me what I earned as an actor in terms of recognition. They said you’ve been out of the limelight for so long, because I was pursuing law and doing my practice. They encouraged me to participate,” she said in an exclusive interview with WION.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sadanand, who has worked with Khan in several films including ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, believes he is the only one who can host the controversial reality television show. “I don’t think there’s anybody who can beat him. He’s a wonderful human being - the way he helps people and the good things he does. I think he is very sensitive and emotional. I know when he gives that particular look of seriousness, but he has made this shield, he’s an emotional person otherwise,” she said.&nbsp;&nbsp;For Sadanand, the only strategy to survive the show is to be herself. The actor also has no qualms about details of her personal life being public. “My life is an open book. Everyone knows everything that’s happening. There’s no apprehension about it,” she said.&nbsp;&nbsp;A prominent name in both television and films, Sadanand also reflected on the evolution of the industry, particularly the way women are treated now. “Everything has become grander now, including vanity vans.&nbsp;Hum logo ne too ped ke neeche makeup kia hai, saari lagaake and baandhke humne change kare hai kapde outdoor mei. Things have become grander and more comfortable now,” she said, adding that the youngsters joining showbiz now have great technical knowledge and understanding of how things function. She also emphasised that now on sets, one sees women in different roles, which wasn’t the case earlier. &nbsp;&nbsp;The ‘Insaaf: The Justice’ actor also talked about how the depiction of women has evolved over the years. “The society has grown and changed, so you can’t keep depicting some doormat anymore. They won’t accept it,” she said. While meatier roles are being written for women, Sadanand stressed that the industry still doesn’t have pay parity.&nbsp;&nbsp;“It is sad. The heroes get a certain amount of money, heroines don’t get that, but they also contribute to the film. I think the only two actors who have fought for parity are Deepika Padukone and Kajol… I also think male actors shouldn’t be charging that much,” she explained.&nbsp;

For Polish actor Natalia Janoszek, who’s been a part of films like Chicken Curry Law, Housefull 5, The Swing of Things, and 365 Days among others, saying no to Bigg Boss 19 wasn’t an option.&nbsp;“I mean, how can you say no to Big Boss? Only people who are scared of unexpected things and are not okay to take challenges would say no. And it's easy to say that there's a little drama, this is that, this is that, but it just excuses. Plus, how many chances like this do you have in life? And I'm a big fan of adventure, so, that might be one of the biggest adventures in my life,” she shared in an exclusive interview with WION.&nbsp;&nbsp;While Natalia has seen some clips of Bigg Boss online, she didn’t have access to watch the full show outside India. “Even when I got to know that I'm taking part in Bigg Boss, I was like it's better not to see it because I might just go with the flow,” she added.&nbsp;&nbsp;As someone who has worked in several Hindi films, Natalia says it’s hard to compare Bollywood and Polish film industry. “We don't really have the space for dancing and singing. Hindi movies are more dramatic. And I've always loved this colourful Bollywood. I wanted to dance, I wanted to sing, I wanted to act, and for Poland, it was too much. That's why I was like, okay, I feel like Bollywood is a place for me. So, it's a very small market, and it's basically very hard, actually. European cinema is very hard to compete with,” she elaborated.&nbsp;&nbsp;When Natalia first came to India, she didn’t understand the culture and wasn’t aware of how things function in the country. “I needed to kind of quickly learn because I'm from a different culture. I needed to be respectful to this culture and even if I don't agree with some things, I had to go with it because it is how it is here. Being a foreigner and being a girl in India is not easy,” she shared, adding, “Because very often people are thinking that she’s out of India, right? She must be stupid, easy, and just fun - that we just drink, party and we are troubles, even in movies… Very often you have two guy friends, one is a bad one, a foreigner and the other one is a wife material from India. So, it's very hard sometimes to face that in reality. And I'm trying to prove that we might be a foreigner, but our values might be more Indian than&nbsp;people expect.”&nbsp;Among the films credited to her name, Natalia has also been a part of 365 Days. The actor revealed that she thought of auditioning for the lead role, but thought how she'd be able to manage in Bollywood after that. She said, “How I would go to Bollywood after that and explain that I'm not doing too bold things, because then the people would say, hey, you did 365 Days. It's like one of the boldest movies ever.” The actor, who essayed the role of the lead actor’s best friend, explained that she ended up in the movie by chance. “To be honest, I didn't watch the second and third, and other parts. It is not my kind of cinema, but it was great to be part of such a big production. It's a modern family, and everyone seems to have come to terms with the arrangement.&nbsp;&nbsp;All seems well until one day, their shared househelp Kamala walks in to see a dead Roshni lying in a pool of blood in Raj's arms. Her cry for help reaches Anju, who rushes from next door, and immediately calls up the police. Raj is now the prime suspect in the police investigation and Anju reaches out to lawyer Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi) for help. Layers start to shed and plot begins to twist as more and more characters enter the list of accused. The storytelling allows for an easy expansion of the trial and writers Harman Wadala, Sandeep Jain and Sameer Mishra weave hints, twists and turns with a sharpness that's hard to ignore. However, its runtime of eight episodes feels slightly stretched.&nbsp;&nbsp;But the genre is only as good as its characters - the accused and the advocates. Pankaj Tripathi, who returns as a swankier version of Madhav Mishra, delivers a brilliant portrayal of an easy-going advocate. Even in the chaos of a courtroom, Tripathi brings a sense of calmness. He now owns a fancy office, but at his core, he's still an ordinary man with just basics to fight his fight with. This is established right in the beginning when he doesn't fear jeopardizing his big fat pay cheque job because of a client he decides to represent. There's also Barkha Singh, Khushboo Atre and Aatm Prakash Mishra as his aides. In the courtroom, his team is pitted against Shweta Basu Prasad and Mita Vashisht, both of whom deliver a fine performance. Kalyanee Mulay, who essays the role of sub-inspector Gauri Karmarkar and Ajeet Singh Palawat, who is her ex-husband and senior inspector Harsh, do justice to their roles, but one does wish their story was fleshed out further - yet another family matter waiting to be explored.&nbsp;Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is spot on as a man who is yet to come to terms with how his life is unfolding. He delivers a performance of restrain. While more layers would've added to Roshni's storyline, Asha Negi does a decent job with what she's offered. However, it's Surveen Chawla, who emerges as the star of the show, alongside Tripathi. There's also Barkha Singh, Khushboo Atre and Aatm Prakash Mishra as his aides. In the courtroom, his team is pitted against Shweta Basu Prasad and Mita Vashisht, both of whom deliver a fine performance. Kalyanee Mulay, who essays the role of sub-inspector Gauri Karmarkar and Ajeet Singh Palawat, who is her ex-husband and senior inspector Harsh, do justice to their roles, but one does wish their story was fleshed out further - yet another family matter waiting to be explored. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is spot on as a man who is yet to come to terms with how his life is unfolding. He delivers a performance of restrain. While more layers would've added to Roshni's storyline, Asha Negi does a decent job with what she's offered. However, it's Surveen Chawla, who emerges as the star of the show, alongside Tripathi. Her character gives her ample scope to dig deep and an edge that she ably laps up. The weight of its social commentary is unfortunately borne by its thrills - that rarely get you to the edge of your seat. The supernatural characters, too, fail to evoke any horrors.&nbsp;

Nushrratt Bharrucha is convincing as a mother going pillar to post to rescue her daughter and fighting on behalf of all those who&rsquo;ve been wronged. She musters the strength of them all and puts on a fierce show. Soha Ali Khan delivers a decent performance as the supernatural Daasi - one does wish her character had more agency, though. &nbsp;

Hardika Sharma is impressive in her part and her scenes with both Sakshi and Daasi are executed well. The characters of Samar (Gashmeer Mahajani), who plays the police officer supporting Sakshi and Ishani, and Adimanav, who the entire village is trying to appease, lose steam soon enough. While it&rsquo;s understandable that societal beliefs are the story&rsquo;s main villains, a powerful supernatural villainous character would&rsquo;ve done no harm.&nbsp;
The film&rsquo;s pulse lies in its messaging, cinematography and production - particularly in a scene where Sakshi finds herself lost in a maze in a dungeon. It&rsquo;s powerful and reflective of the societal shackles women find themselves trapped in - but alas, just like the film, the scene runs long enough to bore you out of it.&nbsp;
