However, the social media giant made no mention of who submitted the request or whose tweets will be restricted. It is pertinent to note that Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has previously shut Twitter services country-wide.</p>

<p>“In response to legal process and to ensure Twitter remains available to the people of Turkey, we have taken action to restrict access to some content in Turkey today,” Twitter’s Global Government Affairs account said on Friday.</p>

<p>“We have informed the account holders of this action in line with our policy. This content will remain available in the rest of the world.”</p>

<p>Twitter CEO Elon Musk defended the censoring in a tweet to critic Matt Yglesias. Yglesias on Saturday quipped that "Twitter Files" will ultimately report on the incident. “Did your brain fall out of your head, Yglesias? As per reports, the services were blocked after Turkish people thronged on social media and criticised Erdogan's government for its failure to efficiently respond in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake that hit the&nbsp; nation this February.</p>

<p>Turkish social media was flooded with remarks from users who were dissatisfied with the state of search and rescue operations in their areas after the devastating earthquake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Erdogan and Musk met in 2017, not long after former US president Donald Trump assumed office. More recently, it was reported that on December 16, 2021, Erdogan and Musk spoke by video conference to discuss satellite launches and lithium batteries for electric automobiles.</p>

<p>Turkey and SpaceX, Musk's space exploration company, agreed on a 2021 launch of the first communications satellite. At the 2022 World Cup, Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, also shook hands with Erdogan.</p>

According to the election body, Karnataka has the highest-ever number of voters who are over 100 years of age. The data suggests about 17,000 people registered in the electoral rolls have already crossed the age of 100 years. 9,985 of them are women.

<p>Over 300,000 advance voting ballots are at risk of being problematic and not included in the vote count on Sunday, said Thailand Post, the state enterprise providing postal services in the country adding the envelopes containing these ballots are "unreadable" due to poor handwriting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The issue of the unreadable ballots was brought to light at first by a journalist at the Thai PBS station, Phatthraporn Tan-ngam. Tan-ngam shared a video clip of her interview with the deputy managing director of Thailand Post Pongsatorn Wisetsuwan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Acknowledging that the handwriting on some 300,000 envelopes containing cast ballots from advance voting is "unreadable", Pongsatorn during the interview said the issue must be investigated by the country's election body so that it can be ascertained whether the ballots can be included in the vote count or not.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The envelopes consist of details of provinces, districts and constituencies. Along with it, it also comprises of five-digit election codes used for sorting and delivery of the ballots.</p>

<p>The details are written by the election officials at the voting stations during the early voting. The unreadability of the details on the envelopes is attributed to human error by committee members, as per Thailand Post.&nbsp;However, it is pertinent to note that this has nothing to do with Thailand Post as this process comes under the ambit of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT).</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Picharn Chaopattanawong, deputy leader of the Move Forward Party, on Friday condemned the Election Commission for not clarifying on the issue of these problematic&nbsp;votes.&nbsp;He urged the election body to take action to resolve the issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The main G7 statement is set to include "a section specific to China" with a list of concerns that include "economic coercion and other behavior that we have seen specifically from the [People's Republic of China]," the official said on Friday.</p>

<p>U.S. officials, nonetheless, expect the president to attend the two-day summit as planned, followed by trips to Papua New Guinea and Australia also aimed at shoring up Washington's approach to the China-dominated Asia-Pacific region.</p>

<p>The couple invited people on the social media platform Facebook between March and October 2019. They would urge people online to make investments in a savings scheme. To make it look appealing to people, they would promise that the investments will bring&nbsp;them 93 per cent returns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To make it look real and to convince people of the 'veracity' of the fraud ponzi scheme, Wantanee would often posted online videos wherein she would show off her gold jewellery in a jewellery shop.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She would claim that she owned the shop. However, the jewellery turned out to be fake. In reality, it was not even a shop. It was a counter which the couple set up beside the room which is styled as an office space.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The court held the couple guilty of scamming millions of dollars from more than 2,000 people in the Ponzi scheme, an investment fraud that pays existing investors with funds collected from new investors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One of the ways how the couple was able to fool people online is how they portrayed themselves online. Their posts were all curated in a manner that would make them appear to be super-rich people with lavish lifestyles. But everything was fake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now, both husband and wife are expected to be in prison for just two decades. It is because of the law in Thailand which puts a bar on the total jail time to 20 years each.</p>

<p>People over 18 will be permitted to request aid in dying under its terms if they are terminally sick and in intolerable pain.</p>

The governing Socialists, who have an absolute majority in the house, supported the adoption of the definitive version of the law on Friday. "We are confirming a law that has already been approved several times by a huge majority," said Socialist MP Isabel Moreira who backed the legislation.</p>

<p>The new law can be promulgated by the president within a week. Portuguese media said that it may go into effect by the autumn. "We have at last come to the end of a long battle," Moreira told AFP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A member of the pro-euthanasia group Right To Die With Dignity,&nbsp;Paulo Santos said,&nbsp;"The adoption of this law has been relatively fast compared with other big countries."</p>

<p>"The courts can facilitate them but as per the law, we will take action against their anti-state and terror activities," said Sanaullah.</p>

<p>Imran Khan's arrest on 9 May in the corruption case comes after he warned of country-wide protests in case he is arrested again.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Islamabad High Court gave two-week protective bail to Imran Khan on the corruption case. The High Court also asked the authorities to not arrest the PTI chief until Wednesday, 17 May.&nbsp;</p>

‘Let them eat concrete’: Massive new US embassy complex in Lebanon draws ire of netizens

<p>With US already tightening its noose around China over its potential help to Russia in the Ukraine war, European Union cautioned Beijing that it must use its influence with Moscow to end the conflict or else the already strained relations with the bloc&nbsp;will further deteriorate, as per reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell at a press conference in Sweden on Friday evening said, “Life is complicated." “If I don’t like your behaviour, you cannot expect to be good friends. It is as simple as that.”</p>

<p>This comes as China's special representative on Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, is all set to travel to Ukraine, Russia, and other European capitals next week to serve as an intermediary and try to resolve the conflict that has marred the Eastern European region for over a year now.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Though Borrell appreciated this visit by a Chinese representative, he did so with a subtle warning for China that if it does not follow suit it will end up worsening the relations between EU and Beijing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It is so important that China understands that what is happening in Ukraine is an existential threat for us, and we expect that China will use its role and its responsibilities. If this is not the case, our relationship will not be so good," the EU foreign policy chief said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a separate conversation, Borrell told the Post, “We had been asking China to get involved with Ukraine, and this phone call with President Xi [Jinping] was the first small step. And this special envoy is another step towards China using its influence to stop this war."</p>

<p>However, he continued saying “we know China is practising pro-Russian neutrality”.</p>

<p>“So this [peace] initiative is important for us, because we cannot have a good relationship with China if China is clearly supporting Russia.”</p>

<p>Borrell comments came on the nine-page position document during his meeting with the EU’s 27 foreign ministers on Friday in Stockholm. The ministers mulled over the bloc's policy towards Beijing and its recalibration if China does not accede to its demands.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier in March, an odd occurrence in the United States caught everyone's attention when an alligator bit a guy in an unusual way. Scot Hollingsworth of Daytona Beach, a resident of Florida, informed the local TV station WKMG that he was bitten by a 9-foot-long snake as he opened the front entrance to his home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hollingsworth said that he heard a sound when he opened the door to see who was there. He said that when he got up to check, he was watching TV with his wife.&nbsp;He claimed that he experienced severe leg discomfort as soon as he opened the door and left the house to turn off the porch lights. He claimed that when he discovered an alligator on his porch biting his upper leg, he was astounded.</p>

<p>He said, "I jumped up and headed over and opened the door, stepped out while trying to reach the lights and barely got out the door and got my leg clamped on and [it] started shaking really violently."&nbsp;"It was just total surprise and shock. I suspect I surprised the alligator as much as he surprised me," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The man was taken to the hospital after the event to receive medical attention for his wounds. On the other hand, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission later discovered the alligator and it was euthanised.&nbsp;A few suggestions for peaceful coexistence with alligators were included in the commission's report.&nbsp;</p>

The man was taken to the hospital after the event to receive medical attention for his wounds. On the other hand, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission later discovered the alligator and it was euthanised. <p>While the European Union demanded a rapid ceasefire, Cairo served as the mediator in negotiations for peace between Israel and the militant organisation Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).</p>

<p>“Egypt’s efforts to calm things down and resume the political process have not yet borne fruit,” Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry told reporters.</p>

<p>EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in a statement, "We urge an immediate comprehensive ceasefire which will end Israeli military operations in Gaza and current rocket firing against Israel, which is unacceptable."</p>

<p>US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel termed the casualties "tragic and heartbreaking." US called on both the sides "to take prudent steps to ensure the loss of civilian life is prevented and that steps are taken to ensure that violence is reduced."</p>

<p>The military reported that since Wednesday, 620 rockets from Gaza had been fired toward Israel, with 179 of those rockets being shot down by the Iron Dome missile defence system. According to the army, 25% of rockets fired from Gaza struck itself, killing four persons, three of them children. Islamic Jihad and Hamas were unable to immediately provide AFP with confirmation.</p>
