Climate change activists took protesting to the next level by blocking two printing presses, which affected distribution of numerous national newspapers.

The activists, who call themselves&nbsp;Extinction Rebellion (XR),&nbsp;started a 10-days long protest in front of the two printing press located&nbsp;north of London and near Liverpool.

The affected newspaper were&nbsp;The Times, the Daily Telegraph and The Sun.

The XR group blocked the streets leading to the printing ress with several vehicles&nbsp;"to expose the failure of these corporations to accurately report on the climate and ecological emergency".

In addition to blocking the roads with vehicles, the protestors also attached themselves to various other barricades, making it impossible for anyone to pass through.

The aim of the protest is to disrupt the services of all newspapers that are a part of the&nbsp;News Corp., controlled by Rupert Murdoch's family, as well as right-wing titles The Daily Mail and The London Evening Standard, as they feel these organisations manipulate the truth.

"The groups are using disruption and their consistent manipulation of the truth to suit their own personal and political agendas," the group said in a statement.

However, the Newsprinters, who run the plant, said quickly shifted the printing of the newspapers to another location and apologised to the customers for the late deliveries.

"Overnight print workers, delivery drivers, wholesale workers and retail newsagents have faced delays and financial penalty," a spokesperson of Newsprinters said.

The Times also apologised to readers unable to buy the newspaper and said on Twitter it was "working to get newspapers delivered to retailers as soon as possible".

The World Bank said Friday it was canceling a loan to fund a dam in Lebanon that environmentalists claimed could destroy a valley rich in biodiversity.

The Bisri Dam was partially suspended in June after the Washington-based development lender said it raised concerns about the project's implementation, and given the government of Lebanon until September 4 to finalize key agreements related to operations and maintenance as well as the environment.

In a statement, the World Bank said it had notified the government that it was withdrawing its financing "due to non-completion of the tasks that are preconditions to the commencement of construction."

"The canceled portion of the loan is $244 million and the cancelation is effective immediately," the bank said.

Located in a valley 30 kilometres (20 miles) south of the capital, the dam aims to supply drinking water as well as irrigation for 1.6 million residents.

Environmentalists and some farmers had disputed assurances from the government and the World Bank that the dam, to be built on a seismic fault line, does not increase the risk of earthquakes.

Roland Nassour, an activist who has campaigned against the project, said he was delighted the loan had been cancelled.

"Today one of the corruption deals in the country has collapsed," said Nassour, the coordinator of the Save Bisri initiative, adding that popular anger had made the project a "burden" for the global lender.

'Glimmer of hope'

Eddy Akl, the owner of land expropriated by the state to build the dam, said the loan's withdrawal was a step in the right direction.

A recent survey has revealed that three out of four people will be willing to take the vaccine for coronavirus, if it is rolled out this year.

On behalf of World Economic Forum, Ipsos MORI conducted a survey&nbsp;of nearly 20,000 adults from 27 countries.&nbsp;

As per the results compiled, around 74 per cent people said that&nbsp;they would get a vaccine for COVID-19 if it were available saying “if a vaccine for COVID-19 were available, I would get it”. However, 59 per cent people said they had no hope that the vaccination will be rolled out by the end of this year.

Out of people who said they would not want to get their hopes high for the vaccination, 56 per cent said they would be scared about the side effects of the vaccination, and 29 per cent said they are not sure if the vaccine will be effective.

Out of 74 per cent who agreed to use the vaccine,&nbsp;only 37 per cent strongly agree while 37 per cent somewhat agree.

The number of people who agreed to using the vaccine is significantly more than those who doubt the effectiveness of it. The order has come at a time when the US is already burning by clash of police against the people standing in solidarity with the African-American community in the US, who have been tortured by the local police on numerous incidents — some of which led to death of the victims. Recent cases have been George Floyd and Jacob Blake who were violently attacked by the state police even when they were unarmed, leading to Geroge Floyd's death and Blake being admitted in hospital for serious injuries.
