"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 739 refugees have returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from foreign countries: 171 people, including 51 women and 88 children, have returned from Lebanon via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints, while 568 people, including 170 women and 290 children, have returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the centre&nbsp;said in its daily bulletin. 
 
Since January 1, 2019, more than 36,000 refugees have returned back to Syria. 
 
As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favourable conditions for repatriating refugees. Central Punjab captain Ahmed Shehzad has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee, while his teammate Azhar Ali and Sindh fast-bowler Sohail Khan have received official reprimands for violating Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) code of conduct during their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match on Thursday.

Shehzad was found guilty of committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.14, which relates to the changing condition of the ball during the match.

The incident happened during the 17th over of Sindh's first innings on Tuesday when on-field umpires Mohammad Asif and Zameer Ahmed found that the ball had been unfairly changed by a member of the fielding side.

The matter was reported to match referee Nadeem Arshad who, on the basis of a preliminary review, determined that Shehzad, as captain, had a case to answer for the contravention as the incident related to non-identification of the player and a notice of charge was issued to him under the PCB code of conduct. 
 
Shehzad pleaded not guilty to the charge, and as such, a hearing took place after the match on Thursday, in which Ahmed was found guilty. 
 
Shehzad later said in an official statement: "We can agree to disagree in this incident as I maintain that the condition of the ball changed naturally due to the rough playing square and not artificially. I tried to convince the match officials, but they insisted and I accept and respect their decision." 
 
"I would never indulge in such an act nor allow any of my team-mates to disrespect the game. My priority is to play hard, competitive and result-oriented cricket, and at the same time inspire the younger generation, which watches us play the game," he added. 
 
In an unrelated incident, Azhar Ali and Sohail Khan have been handed official reprimands as the two players got into an argument after Central Punjab pushed for victory against Sindh.

West Indies women scripted a one-run victory over India in the first ODI of the three-match series here at the North Sound Stadium on Friday (local time).

Chasing 226, India's openers Jemimah Rodrigues and Priya Punia provided a steady start and put on 78 runs for the first wicket.

Their partnership was broken in the 22nd over as Stafanie Taylor dismissed Rodrigues (41).

Poonam Raut came out to bat next and she had a partnership of 46 runs with Punia, but West Indies once again got a breakthrough at a crucial juncture as Raut (22) was run-out.

Captain Mithali Raj next came out to the middle and she along with Punia, stitched together a stand of 46 runs.

India had a big setback as Punia (75) was sent back to the pavilion in the 40th over, with the team still 56 runs away from the target.

After Punia's dismissal, India lost wickets in a cluster and was 217/9 in the final over with the team still requiring nine more runs for a win.

Jhulan Goswami tried her best to get the team over the line, but West Indies got the last wicket of Poonam Yadav and won by a run.

The 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) opened their annual summit in Bangkok hoping to secure a China-backed free-trade pact knitting together half of the world's population and around 40 per cent of its commerce.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a deal spanning India to New Zealand and wrangled over for several years,&nbsp;is now seen as an urgent counterpoint to US protectionism.

Washington's trade rumble with Beijing has weighed on markets, with the IMF warning the spat could cut global growth to the slowest pace in more than a decade.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump's protectionist rhetoric has spooked some ASEAN nations who fear their economies could fall under his crosshairs.

Trump has repeatedly warned of further intervention to protect American business and several Asian nations are waiting to find out if the US will put them on a watch list of "currency manipulators".&nbsp;

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad warned the regional bloc could hit back against any punitive trade measures, skirting over specifics.

"We will do exactly what Trump does," he told a business forum ahead of the summit opening, calling the US leader "not a very nice man".&nbsp;

"If you&nbsp;go alone, you will be bullied. We don't want to go into a trade war but sometimes when they do things that are not nice to us, we have to be unnice to them," he added.&nbsp;

Earlier his Thai counterpart, Prayut Chan-O-Cha, echoed the theme of regional cooperation on the RCEP deal, while Philippines' trade secretary Ramon Lopez said he hoped to have a "very positive report (on RCEP) come Monday" when the summit ends.

Tensions at sea

India, whose Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also in Thailand, is the greatest obstacle to RCEP in its current form.

New Delhi fears opening key industries such as metals, textiles and dairy to cheaper Chinese importers.

Indian intransigence has cast the deal -- looping in the 10 Southeast Asian economies along with Japan, India, China, New Zealand and Australia -- into doubt.

"We want them (India) to be in. We want to have them... they are a big economy," Lopez told reporters.

Chinese premier Li Keqiang will attend the three-day meet, where simmering tensions in the South China Sea will also lead the agenda.

China supports RCEP, a deal seen as a way for Beijing to assert its trade dominance in its Asian backyard after the US pullout of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in 2017.
