A newly published research has revealed how air pollution can cause lung cancer in individuals who have never smoked in their lives. The findings of the research could help the medical industry in preventing and treating tumours by rewriting our understanding of them.

Reportedly, the scientists found that fine particulates in polluted air activated the dormant, pre-existing cancer genes in the lungs of an individual which were inflamed due to inhaling the polluted air.&nbsp;

The research helps in the understanding of medical experts as to why so many non-smokers tend to develop lung cancer or tumours.

The researchers of the study remarked that although smoking remains the primary cause of lung cancer, the fact that air pollution activates dormant cancer genes should be a 'wake-up' call for everyone.&nbsp;

"Globally, more people are exposed to unsafe levels of air pollution than to toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke, and these new data link the importance of addressing climate health to improving human health," said&nbsp;Professor Charles Swanton of the Francis Crick Institute.&nbsp;

The long-term study was conducted by&nbsp;Francis Crick Institute with&nbsp;Cancer Research UK funding the $16 million project. For the research, the scientists analysed a pool of over 400,000 people from the UK, Taiwan, and South Korea by measuring their exposure to PM 2.5.

“The mechanism we’ve identified could ultimately help us to find better ways to prevent and treat lung cancer in never smokers.&nbsp;The next step is to discover why some lung cells with mutations become cancerous when exposed to pollutants while others don’t.” added Professor Swanton.&nbsp;

The findings of the study come in the backdrop of another study conducted in Canada which revealed that&nbsp;even low levels of pollution can be extremely harmful and, in the long run, cause considerable health damage.

As reported by WION, the research&nbsp;carried out in Canada found that around 8000 people in the country die every year because of air pollution. It came as a surprise as Canada has generally accounted for extremely low levels of pollution in the past few decades.

The study took into account more than 7 million Canadian citizens between the years 1981 and 2016 along with the air pollution data in the same period of time.

&nbsp;“These findings suggest important health benefits could be gained from continued reductions in air pollution and more stringent regulatory standards, including in countries such as Canada and the UK,” Prof Michael Brauer from the University of British Columbia, told The Guardian.&nbsp;

While the US household income is taking a beating, household expenditures are touching new highs. Reportedly, the average cost of raising a child has grown to over $300,000 in the USA, primarily due to sky-high inflation rates. Secureworks Counter Threat Unit (CTU), a company that analyses threat data across the planet, observed a series of attacks in the month of July that used the LuhX malware. Government officials in Europe, West Asia, and South America were reportedly targeted. The Chinese espionage group imitated official diplomatic notices and lured the government officials. “Several characteristics of this campaign indicate that it was conducted by the likely Chinese government-sponsored Bronze President threat group, including the use of PlugX, file paths and naming schemes previously used by the threat group, the presence of shellcode in executable file headers, and politically themed decoy documents that align with regions where China has interests,” the CTU research team wrote in a statement. Explaining that the PlugX malware had capabilities beyond just information gathering, the CTU team further added. "PlugX is modular malware that contacts a command and control (C2) server for tasking and can download additional plugins to enhance its capability beyond basic information gathering," it said. It is pertinent to note that the malware usually arrived in the victim's computer, embedded within RAR archive files. Upon opening the file, the user is shown a Windows shortcut (LNK) file. Once the user clicks on the LNK file, the Plux malware is loaded, decrypted and executed in the system. The group stated that recently a Turkish official was targeted using a similar modus-operandi. The official received a notification letter, supposedly from the UK government, informing about the appointment of a new ambassador. However. the truth is there has been no change in the personnel. Opening the mail could have compromised the official. The cybersecurity firm advised that countries and organisations that China has an interest in could be at the most risk of being targeted and thus they needed to be aware of the group's activities. “Organisations in geographic regions of interest to China should closely monitor this group’s activities, especially organisations associated with or operating as government agencies,” read the statement. Musk's lawyers argued that Twitter failed to seek Zatko's consent before handing him the severance payment which provides the Tesla head with another legal basis to walk out of the merger.

It is pertinent to note that after departing or rather forced out of Twitter, Zatko filed a whistleblower complaint, criticising the micro-blogging platform's data security practices.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Musk's attorney's have asked the court to delay the five-day trial that starts on October 17 so that they could investigate claims made by Zatko, also known as "Mudge", that Twitter hid weaknesses in its security and data privacy.

As reported by WION, this is not the first time that Elon Musk has used a previous Twitter employee and their credentials to tank the deal.&nbsp;

In a court filing, Musk had submitted the names of 22 data custodians whose documents he wanted to review. One of them included former General Manager of Consumer Product Kayvon Beykpour who was fired by Twitter in May.&nbsp;

After bots, what is Elon Musk's new reason to terminate the Twitter deal?

Most 90-year-old&nbsp;individuals will like to ring in their birthday by sitting in a cosy home, surrounded by their loved ones, enjoying food and drinks and later getting to their bed&nbsp;early. However, for a&nbsp;Minnesota nonagenarian, celebrating her 91st birthday in such a manner was a strict no-no.

Ida Shannon, who turns 91 years old&nbsp;later this month, ditched the ordinary and went skydiving last Sunday to celebrate her life milestone.

"Life would be pretty dull if you didn't embrace adventures.&nbsp;I like taking risks. I think I was born that way," she said.&nbsp;

Ida, who had celebrated her 80th birthday&nbsp;by going zip-lining, had always dreamt of going skydiving as her next adventure.

"Someone asked me what I was going to do next, and without even thinking about it, I said, 'Oh, I'll just go skydiving,'" said Ida in an interview to CBS.&nbsp;

To make Shannon's dream come true, the members of her church stepped up and started to make the arrangement.

The church members collected money amongst themselves and managed to send Shannon aboard a plane so that she could jump thousands of feet down and make her dream a reality.&nbsp;

Daisy May, one of Ida's friends and a member of the church referred to her as real-life wonder woman.&nbsp;"She's like the real Wonder Woman. She's strong and loves people. We are family. She is like the grandmother I wish I had."&nbsp;

Ida not only went aboard the plane but she also managed to complete the dive and make it back safe. Later, she clicked&nbsp;pictures with her friends and family.&nbsp;
