Gill joins the small yet illustrious list of Indians to have smashed a double century. Previously,&nbsp;Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag,&nbsp;Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have reached the milestone.&nbsp;

While Tendulkar and Sehwag have scored a double century in ODI once, current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has achieved the feat thrice, including the highest-ever score of 264.&nbsp;

However, after Sharma fell prey to Tickner and Virat Kohli was bamboozled by a Santner snorter, the Indian innings wavered a bit. Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav tried to forge a partnership but could not last long.&nbsp;

Gill continued to hold the fort with the lower-middle order, reaching his third ODI century as well as becoming the fastest Indian to complete 1000 runs in the format. He reached the record in 19 innings, surpassing Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan in the process.&nbsp;

In the end, India managed to score 349/8 in the stipulated 50 overs. Apart from Gill, none of the Indian batters managed to reach the half-century mark.&nbsp;

Medvedev is on the same side of the draw as Nadal and was scheduled to meet him in the last eight.

But with the Spaniard's shock defeat Wednesday to Mackenzie McDonald, his route to a third straight final has opened up.

"Physically for both of us it was tough," said Medvedev, who is bidding to become just the fourth man in the Open era to reach three consecutive Australian Open finals, after Djokovic, Mats Wilander and Ivan Lendl.&nbsp;

Australian Open: Djokovic returns with a bang in quest for his 22nd Grand Slam title

Formula One will have 23 races this season, still a record and one more than last year, with the sport facing a four-week gap in April after deciding not to replace the cancelled Chinese Grand Prix.

The race in Shanghai, originally scheduled for April 16 as the fourth of 24 rounds, was axed last month for the fourth year in a row due to strict local measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Formula One had said then that it was assessing alternative options, with various venues touted in the media including Portugal's Portimao circuit that was used as a replacement in 2020 and 2021 for races cancelled during the pandemic.

"Formula One can confirm the 2023 season will consist of 23 races. All existing race dates on the calendar remain unchanged," the sport said on Tuesday.

That will leave a gap between round three, Australia's race in Melbourne on April 2, and Azerbaijan's Grand Prix in Baku on April 30.

Sources told Reuters the Chinese GP organisers had sought a reinstatement after Beijing relaxed COVID-19 controls but that was ruled out for logistical reasons.

The three-time Grand Slam champion has battled major hip and abdominal injuries for half a decade but declared himself free of pain and fired up before the tournament.&nbsp;

His renowned grit was on full display in toppling the Italian 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (10/6) in 4hrs 49mins under a closed roof on Rod Laver Arena due to extreme heat.

It was a huge win for the 35-year-old Briton, now ranked 66, to knock out last year's semi-finalist for a landmark 50th match-win at the season-opening Grand Slam.

"I'll be feeling this evening and tomorrow, but right now I'm unbelievably happy and proud of myself," said Murray, a five-time runner-up at Melbourne Park.

"I've put a lot of work into the last few months with my team to give me this opportunity to perform on stadiums like this, in matches like this and against players like Matteo and it paid off tonight."

It was Murray's first victory over a top 20 player at a Grand Slam since defeating ninth-ranked Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals of the 2017 French Open.

The victory also brought up his 50th Australian Open match-win, becoming only the fifth man in the Open Era to achieve the feat alongside Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Stefan Edberg.

But Berrettini rallied in the third set with a break to move 3-2 clear and helped by six aces took it to a fourth set.

Nothing separated them and it went to a seesawing tiebreak that the Italian won on his third set point when Murray sent a forehand long.

Berrettini earned a match point 5-4 in the fifth but netted an easy half-volley to waste the opportunity and it again went to a tiebreak where an early break for Murray gave him the edge and he clung on.
