<h2><strong>Florida battles Hurricane Milton</strong></h2>

<p>Flordia has been battling the hurricane since its landfall on October 10. According to reports, the category 5 hurricane struck the west coast at around 6 am IST.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Warnings regarding flash floods were issued by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), and the residents in areas like Tampa, Saint Petersburg, and Clearwater were asked to take shelter amid 'extremely dangerous' winds.</p>

<p>The NHC, citing the radar data, stated that Hurricane Milton had formed in the Gulf Of Mexico and had made landfall close to Siesta Key in Sarasota County on the western coast. It added that the winds were flowing at a speed of up to 193 km per hour.</p>

<p>As reported by The Guardian, the hurricane left more than two million homes and businesses without power.</p>

<p>The winds also reached the east coast of Florida and led to a delay in the launch of&nbsp;the Europa Clipper mission.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So they approached the police, assuming that a theft was taking place.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police opened a probe to pin down the culprit and eventually zeroed in on a 47-year-old zookeeper, who worked at the Animal Care and Breeding Showcase department at the facility.</p>

<p>Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun reported that the man, who has not been identified, was caught red-handed stealing food that was supposed to feed the animals on Oct 1. The police are investigating the reason for his theft.</p>

<p>Zoo officials are quite embarrassed to learn of the incident. The zoo’s vice director, Kiyoshi Yasufuku, said he was sorry for the zookeeper’s behaviour.</p>

<p>The NGO sought an end to such rape myths being used in court, and not seek survivor's sexual history during cross-examination.</p>

<p>It quoted one survivor as saying that taking the court stand was like "walking to the gallows".</p>

<p>The NGO said that 50 per cent of cases it examined were adjourned with no explanation, for up to four times.</p>

<p>But for many in the crypto community, director Cullen Hoback did not give any solid proof to back the claim regarding Todd.</p>

<p>Todd himself said it is ironic that a director who is also known for a documentary on the conspiracy theory group QAnon "has resorted to QAnon style coincidence-based conspiracy thinking here too".</p>

<p>As the buzz around the documentary built up, Todd simply wrote&nbsp;on his X handle,&nbsp;"I'm not Satoshi."</p>

<p>Robert Ray, a correspondent for Fox Weather, donned a bike helmet and goggles while reporting from Bradenton, Florida as 100mph winds and rains thrashed him. He was barely able to stand in the horrendous weather conditions in an effort to show people what Milton was really like.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, Milton has been termed the most dangerous storm of 2024 with Tampa in the path of enduring the most destruction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Robert and his team provide a raw, behind-the-scenes look at conditions on the ground, as winds gusting over 80 mph were measured nearby," Fox News wrote, sharing the video of Ray braving the storm on the streets.</p>

<p>The anchor tells the audience that they will show them what "an extreme weather warning looks like".</p>

<p>"This is as bad as I have experienced this hurricane season, by far, nothing matches," Ray says in the video.</p>

<p>Ray goes on to say that the devastation will hit the first responders hard the next day and now they know why it would have occurred.</p>

<h2>Milton to cause catastrophic damage</h2>

<p>"If any first responders are watching and anyone who is going to have to go into action tomorrow, monitor all this and the devastation that is going to occur, you know why there's damage, why there is catastrophic damage. This is why we do this," he says.</p>

<p>Ray adds that the reason for showing people the fury of the storm is to warn them it is not safe to be there and that they need to evacuate.</p>

<p>"This is part of the documentation that will also hopefully show people to evacuate. You don't want to be in this," warned Ray, who at one point crouched on the road.</p>

<p>"You don't want to be in your home if it's not structurally confident. We're going to see a lot of those issues tomorrow, especially in mobile homes," Ray explained.</p>

<p>Milton is bringing catastrophic flooding and devastation with it and has led to at least 19 tornadoes. Nearly 2.8 million homes and businesses across Florida were without power Thursday morning.</p>

<p>A tornado tore through the St. Lucie County in Florida, killing several people in a mobile home retirement community, CNN reported. The exact number of those dead has not been revealed.</p>

Sheena Wright becomes tenth official to depart NYC mayor Eric Adams' administration amid probe

<p>An Afghan man was arrested in Oklahoma for allegedly plotting an election day "terrorist attack," the U.S. Department of Justice said on Tuesday.</p>

<p>The man, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, living in Oklahoma City after entering the U.S. in 2021 on a special immigrant visa, was plotting the attack in the name of Islamic State, according to the indictment. The Special Immigrant Visa program, which admits up to 50 people a year, is available to people who worked with the U.S. armed forces or under chief of mission authority as a translator or interpreter in Iraq or Afghanistan.</p>

<p>The indictment did not indicate whether Tawhedi worked as translator or interpreter in Afghanistan. The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p>

<p>Tawhedi searched online for information on how to access cameras in the capital, Washington, D.C., and for states that did not require a license to get a firearm, according to the indictment. He also visited the White House and Washington Monument web cameras.</p>

<p>Tawhedi and an underage co-conspirator, who is his brother-in-law, were arrested on Monday after they met with FBI assets to buy two AK-47 rifles and ammunition.</p>

<p>In his post-arrest interview, Tawhedi said the attack planned to target large gatherings of people, during which he and his co-conspirator expected to die as martyrs.</p>

<p>"We will continue to combat the ongoing threat that ISIS and its supporters pose to America’s national security, and we will identify, investigate, and prosecute the individuals who seek to terrorize the American people," U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.</p>

<p>Last week, in a "homeland threat assessment," the Department of Homeland Security said the U.S. threat environment was expected to remain high in the coming year due to factors including the 2024 election cycle and the war in Gaza.</p>

<p>"Lone offenders and small groups continue to pose the greatest threat. Meanwhile, foreign terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State and al Qaeda maintain their enduring intent to conduct or inspire attacks in the Homeland," the department said in an assessment released on Oct. 2.</p>

<p>The Islamic State militant organization killed and executed thousands of people in the name of its extreme religious interpretation before it was territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017 and Syria in 2019.</p>
