Delhi Tourism Department introduces 'haunted walks,' starting at Malcha Mahal, a Tughlaq-era hunting lodge in Chanakyapuri, 1.5 km from the main road.


Abandoned for centuries, Malcha Mahal gained attention as the home of a family claiming to be descendants of the Nawab of Awadh, with the last member, 'Prince' Ali Raza (Cyrus), passing away in 2017.


Raza lived in poverty, contrasting royal lineage. His mysterious death in 2017 brought attention to the Mahal, sparking local beliefs about supernatural occurrences.

Locals believe the spirit of Begum Wilayat Mahal, who died by suicide three decades ago, still resides in the ruins. 15 years of 26/11: 6 Pak Terrorists Shielded by China at UN 

Over the years, China has blocked numerous moves by India and its partners to designate Pakistan-based terrorists under the 1267 Al-Qaeda sanctions committee at the United Nations Security Council. 

On September 6, 2022, the US, along with India, submitted a proposal to include Sajid Mir, aka Wasi bhai, on the 1267 list before the Sanctions Committee. Beijing initially blocked the proposal on September 15, 2022, and extended the hold until June 20, 2023. 

Another proposal submitted by India & US on June 1, 2022, aimed to designate Abdul Rehman Makki, the financier and ideologue of the 26/11 attack. China placed the proposal on hold on June 16, 2022 until it reluctantly lifted the hold on January 16, 2023. 

China also blocked efforts by the US and India to designate LeT’s propaganda wing member Shahid Mehmood as a global terrorist. 




China also objected to the efforts of US and India to get Talha Saeed, son of UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed, enlisted on the Sanctions Committee list in October and November of 2022.

China also kept shielding Masood Azhar, the founder and leader of the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), for three years at the UNSC before finally giving up in May 2019. 

The proposal to designate Masood Azhar’s brother Abdul Rauf Asghar Alvi, the chief operational commander of JeM, submitted by the US and India, as global terrorist is still facing Chinese hurdles at the UN.

15 years of 26/11: Remembering Heroes Who Saved Lives that Day 

It has been 15 years since India faced one of its worst terror attacks which claimed the lives of 166 people, including foreign nations and children, and injured 300 others, in Mumbai. 

On this day, 10 Pakistan-based terrorists entered the financial capital city of Mumbai and attacked the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Hotel and Nariman House for four days. The joint effort of the Indian Army and Mumbai Police led to the elimination of all Pakistan-based terrorists and the arrest of one. 

The Mumbai Police Assistant sub-inspector was shot multiple times but managed to detain Ajmal Kasab in Girgaum Chowpatty after he held on to the terrorist’s rifle to ensure that he was nabbed alive. Kasab’s arrest led to multiple revelations about the group’s plans for the city. 

A part of the elite National Security Guard (NSG) unit, he was among those responsible for rescuing hostages from the Taj Hotel. Despite sustaining a bullet injury Major Sandeep was able to save 14 hostages, before being fatally shot by terrorists. 

The banquet manager at the Taj Hotel ordered guests to get under the table and remain silent and was able to lead dozens guests to safety. 

Taj Hotel’s general manager, despite losing his wife and two sons, led thousands of guests to safety.

Following a major earthquake in 2004, there was a deadly tsunami on the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake had its epicentre in the ocean bed which led to this destructive tsunami. Overall, it affected 12 countries and more than 2.3 lakh people were killed. 


Gujarat experienced a massive earthquake on the morning of 26 January 2001, when India was celebrating its 51st Republic Day. Around 20,000 lost their lives and 400,000 were left homeless in the disaster.

Navratri 2023: Nine Colours of Maa Durga


Navratri is just around the corner, and Indians around the world cannot wait to celebrate this colourful festival. This year, Navratri will begin on October 15 and will end on October 24. The festival is celebrated with different colours for each day, each representing a different form of Goddess Durga.


The first colour, pink, represents Goddess Shailputri and stands for nourishment and compassion. This is because the goddess was believed to be born as the daughter of the mighty Himalayas.


Devotees worship goddess Brahmacharini on the second day of Navratri and white colour symbolises her. White stands for purity and innocence as well as justice and righteousness.


Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of this festival and red colour represents her. This colour symbolises energy, passion, and enthusiasm.


It is believed that the goddess Kushmanda actually created this entire universe with her smile. Orange represents her and is said to represent joy and happiness.


The fifth colour, yellow, represents Goddess Skanda Mata. Goddess Parvati came to be known as Skandamata after she became the mother of Lord Karthikeya or Lord Skand. Yellow symbolises prosperity and success in life.


Maroon represents Katyayani Mata, and according to a Hindu legend, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva combined their energies to form the goddess Katyayani, who killed the demon Mahishasura. Maroon signifies courage, strength, and willpower in the face of difficulty or danger.


The royal blue colour symbolises Goddess Kalratri which represents knowledge, intelligence, clarity, and truth. This avatar signifies Durga in her destruction form.


The eighth colour, green, represents Goddess Gauri. Green stands for growth, renewal, and fertility.



The ninth colour, beige, stands for Goddess Siddhidatri. It symbolises divine motherhood as it reminds us that Goddess Durga showers love and protection on us like a mother would do for her children.
