The website (https://mythvsreality.eci.gov.in/) will be used as a one-stop platform for credible and authenticated election-related information in an easy-to-access format.

It will debunk myths and misinformation around Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)/Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), Electoral Roll/Voter Services, Conduct of Elections and others.

The platform will also answer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the upcoming elections including topics and reference material under different sections for all stakeholders.

The register will be periodically updated by the ECI after analysing and verifying the authenticity of various claims circulating on different media platforms. It will also show the latest busted fakes and fresh FAQs, said the poll panel.

Lok Sabha Polls 2024: What Makes it the World’s Biggest Election?

India, the world’s largest democracy, is set to hold its general elections, with around 970 million registered voters heading to cast votes in an election spread over 44 days, the second longest in the country’s history. Here are some numbers which show just how big the Lok Sabha 2024 election is:


As many as 970 million registered voters will be heading to cast their votes in the upcoming elections to choose who will lead India for the next five years. Out of this huge number of voters, 18.2 million will vote for the first time.

The voting for the 18th Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases and the counting will take place on June 4. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said the elections will start on April 19 and continue till June 1.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 will be the second longest in Indian history. The longest was the first parliamentary election held in 1951-52 which went on for four months.

Number of Polling Staff and Police Personnel


The CEC said a total of 15 million polling staff and security personnel will be deployed for the Lok Sabha election with more than 5.5 million Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to handle voting at 1.05 million polling stations.

Out of the 543 seats in Lok Sabha, the Lower House of the Indian Parliament, 412 will be for general candidates, 84 are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 47 for Scheduled Tribe (ST) representatives.

The world’s highest polling station is in the picturesque Tashigang village of Lahaul and Spiti district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The polling booth is at the height of 15,256 feet.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Know Who Can Vote From Home



As India gears up to hold the world’s largest election in history, special emphasis has been placed on taking care of the special needs of elderly voters and those with physical disabilities.

The country’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said on March 16 that the elderly and those with physical disabilities will be given the option to vote from their homes in a first in Indian general elections.


“Generally the tendency has been that the senior citizens want to participate in the process and walk to the booth. But this time, we have given them options to vote in their homes,” the CEC said.


The top election official said that the facility can also be availed by those with more than 40 per cent disability. To avail the facility, voters must submit Form 12 D with the election body within five days of the poll notification.


According to the latest data provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI), there are about 8.2 million senior citizen voters in the country who can vote in the elections conducted for Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.


The facility was first introduced in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.


ECI said on March 16 that the elderly and those with physical disabilities will be given the option to vote from their homes.

18th Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, between April 19 and June 1.

The results will be declared on June 4, 12 days before the term of the current House ends on June 16.

Nearly 97 crore (970 million) people are eligible to cast vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls at 10.5 lakh polling stations.

The upcoming Republic Day show by the Indian Air Force is poised to feature the 'Tangail' formation, reenacting India's first hostile airdrop in 1971. The heritage aircraft Dakota, flanked by two Dornier Do-228 aircraft, will take centrestage.

The aircraft in the Tangail formation will fly using a blend of Aviation Turbine Fuel and Biofuel, showcasing a commitment to sustainable aviation practices and environmental responsibility.

The forthcoming Republic Day parade is expected to spotlight India's defence prowess with displays of cutting-edge indigenous weapon systems, including the LCH Prachand chopper, Pinaka rocket launchers, and Nag anti-tank missiles, highlighting the nation's strides in defense technology.

Designed and manufactured by HAL, the LCH Prachand, India's first Multi-Role Combat Helicopter boasts ground attack and aerial combat capabilities along with advanced navigation, stealth features, and formidable night attack capabilities making it a standout in modern warfare.

Developed by DRDO, the upcoming parade is expected to showcase the Nag anti-tank missiles system with "Fire & Forget" and "Top Attack" capabilities. This will highlight India's indigenous missile technology with passive homing guidance and the BMP II based missile carrier, NAMICA.
