Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, a TDP MP who was sworn in as a minister of state on Sunday, was the wealthiest candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. At Rs 5,705 crore, he disclosed the highest asset among all 8,390 contestants.

Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is the leader of Chandrababu Naidu's TDP, a major constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. 



The TDP leader defeated YSRCP contender Kilari Venkata Rosaiah in the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections by a margin of more than 3.4 lakh votes.



In the Lok Sabha election of 2024, TDP leader Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani made his debut by winning from the Guntur constituency in Andhra Pradesh. Pemmasani works as a doctor.

Ram Mohan Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by Chandrababu Naidu, is the Member of Parliament from the state of Andhra Pradesh. 

In the 2024 general elections, Naidu defeated Tilak Perada of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) from Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 3.2 lakh votes to win the seat for a third consecutive term.

Born on December 18, 1987, Ram Mohan Naidu is the son of Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, a former Union Minister and senior TDP leader who was also the youngest minister in then prime minister Deve Gowda's 1996 Cabinet.

A three-term Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh continues to exert his influence in state governance even after stepping down. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has now joined PM Modi's cabinet.

Manohar Lal Khattar was sworn-in as a minister in Narendra Modi 3.0 cabinet on Sunday (June 9).

Khattar won from the Karnal Lok Sabha constituency after defeating Congress's Divyanshu Budhiraja by a margin of over 200,000 votes.


Khattar's political journey commenced in 1977 as he worked full-time as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker.


He joined the BJP in 1994 and worked as General Secretary of Haryana BJP from 2000 to 2014.

Khattar first contested from the Karnal constituency in the Haryana Legislative Assembly election and was elected in 2014. On October 26, 2014, he assumed the role of Haryana CM. In 2019, he was re-elected as an MLA from the Karnal seat, again securing the CM seat, before stepping down on March 12 this year.


Khattar was born in a Punjabi Hindu family in the Nindana village of Meham tehsil in the Rohtak district.

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Jharkhand, Annapurna Devi, was made as the Union Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development.

Bengaluru's first-ever woman MP Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday took oath as part of Modi cabinet 3.0.

Raksha Khadse, the now three-time MP from Raver in Maharashtra, has been inducted into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Council of Ministers. 

46-year-old Thakur is a prominent woman tribal leader of the BJP in the state. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she defeated the Congress' Radheshyam Muvel by 2.18 lakh votes.

The 57-year-old defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Umesh Makwana by a huge margin of 4.55 lakh votes in the Bhavnagar constituency.



Ms Patel has been representing UP's Mirzapur since 2014. She has also held the post of Apan Dal  (Soneylal) party president since 2016.

In 2020, he went to Bihar Assembly polls alone which impacted the numbers of JD (U) as the ruling party came down to 43 seats from 70 seats in 2015.

Narendra Modi takes oath as India's 16th prime minister

Narendra Modi took the oath of office and secrecy of prime minister at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

As Modi took the oath, the crowds chanted "Modi Modi".

PM Modi became the second person in the history of India to hold the office of the prime minister for three successive terms. 

The grand oath-taking ceremony, which was organised at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, also saw the presence of several foreign leaders and dignitaries. 

Across the national capital, the security was strengthened and prohibitory orders were imposed. Delhi was declared a no-fly zone and three-layered security was implemented.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recently issued guidelines which suggested that even home-cooked food can be unhealthy if not prepared properly. 

People think home-cooked meals are healthier options as compared to junk food. 

But ICMR said, "Even home-made foods may become unhealthy if prepared with high fat, high sugar or salt." 

ICMR has warned that foods high in fats, sugar or salt (HFSS) are harmful to health because they contain less micronutrients and fibre. They are also calorie-dense. 

The medical research also mentioned that saturated fat raises the risk of obesity. Ghee or butter, coconut oil, palm oil, and vanaspati all include saturated fats.

Six Biggest Gainers of Lok Sabha Elections 2024


Naidu has emerged as the kingmaker in the Lok Sabha elections, emerging as a crucial ally for NDA struggling to breach the 300 mark. His Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won 16 seats in Andhra Pradesh. 

The battle of prestige was being fought on Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli seat, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was in the fray. And Gandhi did emerge victorious from here with a handsome margin of 400,000 votes.





UP ka ladka (The boy from UP) Akhilesh Yadav also bagged big in these Lok Sabha elections. His Samajwadi Party (SP) won 37 seats. It was only because of his party's impressive performance that the BJP was not able to cross the majority mark of 272 nationally.

Indian politician infamous for switching alliances, JDU's Nitish Kumar is now another kingmaker of Indian politics. His JDU has won 15 seats in Bihar, shoring up NDA's 295 tally.



The former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and a top leader of BJP, Shivraj Singh Chauhan emerged as one of the biggest gainers of these elections, thrashing Congress's Pratap Bhanu Sharma in Vidisha with a massive margin of 820,000 votes.



KL Sharma of Congress was fighting another battle of prestige for the grand old party from Amethi seat, a bastion of Congress but clinched by BJP's Smriti Irani in 2019. The Congress on Tuesday won it back, with KL Sharma giving Irani a run for her money.

Amongst the top gainers in Lok Sabha election results 2024 are several opposition leaders as the INDIA bloc managed to win over 225 seats.

India's 2024 Lok Sabha elections have culminated and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has clinched a third term under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but the victory trumpets remain mellow and '400-par' appears a far-fetched dream.

In the small town of Vadnagar, Gujarat - far away from the political muddle of the capital New Delhi - Modi spent his childhood with his parents and five siblings. 


His father was a tea seller or "chaiwallah" who used to run a tea stall at the local train station to run the household. 

After joining the RSS, the state headquarters of the RSS in the Indian city of Ahmedabad became Modi's home. He worked to save democracy in 1975 when India's then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had declared an emergency in the country. 

In 1987, Modi joined the BJP and gained immense support and praise from one of the party's stalwart leaders Lal Krishna Advani. 


He became the chief minister of Gujarat in 2001 and since then, the state witnessed a wave of innovation, industry and infrastructure development that turned into a “Gujarat model”. 

Modi got embroiled in an ugly controversy when a Hindu-Muslim riot broke out in the state in 2002 after Muslims were blamed for setting on fire a train which was carrying Hindu pilgrims. Some blamed the Modi administration for failing to curb the unrest while few others even accused the leader of being complicit in the violence. 

In the year 2014, the BJP had a landslide victory in the general elections as they defeated the ruling Congress, which marked the latter's worst defeat ever and Narendra Modi was chosen as the new prime minister.

Exit Poll 2024: States where BJP is likely to clean sweep in Lok Sabha elections



The exit poll data showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance was all set for a clean sweep victory in almost half a dozen states.

The VMR Lok Sabha exit polls and Today's Chanakya predicted that BJP was most likely to retain all five seats in the state.



India-Today Axis My India exit poll gave BJP 25-26 seats in Gujarat, the home state of PM Narendra Modi and a stronghold of his BJP.



Today’s Chanakya exit poll claimed the BJP was all set to win all 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state. A similar prediction was given by My Axis exit poll.

This book by Cultural historian Dwijendra Narayan Jha presents textual evidence from Vedic scriptures and medical texts that showed Hindus believed eating beef and slaughtering cows wasn't taboo until the 19th century. In a nation where the Hindu majority believes the cow to be sacred and abstains from eating beef, this book was promptly banned by the Hyderabad Civil Court and the author received several death threats.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 2: Which States Saw the Highest and Lowest Voter Turnout

The second phase of voting in the world’s biggest election ended on April 26 after millions of voters across 13 states and Union Territories in India cast their votes. Overall, Phase 2 recorded approximately 60.96 per cent voter turnout till 9:00 pm (local time).

The northeastern state of Tripura topped the list yet again with the highest approximate voter turnout after it did so in the first phase. The state also finished its two phase voting for two of its parliamentary seats.


In the state of Manipur, 13 polling stations in eight hill districts saw around 77.18 per cent voter turnout.


The state held voting for three seats – Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, and Kanker – in the second phase of the election and witnessed the third-highest voter turnout. The state also witnessed the death of two police officers deployed for poll duty in two separate incidents.


In the second phase of voting, voters in seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh headed to the polls but only 57.76 per cent exercised their franchise.


The state yet again grappled with low voter turnout after it witnessed lowest turnout in the first phase. Voters in five constituencies headed to the polls in the second phase, where a total of 50 candidates were in the fray.


The state of UP witnessed the lowest voter turnout in the second phase after voting was held across eight parliamentary constituencies which are home to more than 16.7 million voters.

The first phase of voting in the world’s biggest election ended on April 19 after millions of voters in parts of the 21 states and Union Territories in India headed to the polls. Here are the states which witnessed the highest and the lowest voter turnout in this phase till 9:00 pm (local time):

The Indian state of Tripura topped the list with an estimated 80.17 per cent voters participating in the first phase of the general elections, according to the data by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

With the second-highest voter turnout in the first phase, the voting in the Indian state of West Bengal was marred by political violence Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) party workers accused each other of hurting polling personnel.

The Indian state voted in the first and only phase of the general elections since Meghalaya has only two Lok Sabha constituencies. It witnessed the third-highest voter turnout as around more than 74 per cent people headed to the polls.

The India state witnessed the fourth lowest voter turnout in the first phase where six candidates contested for the lone seat. For this election, 8.5 million voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in the state.

Around 54.06 per cent of voters headed to the polls in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and it witnessed the second lowest turnout in phase one. It is also seen as a pivotal swing state with five Lok Sabha seats and has considerable influence on the composition of the lower house of Parliament.

Bihar, which has 40 Lok Sabha seats and is seen as one of the most significant states in Indian politics, saw the lowest voter turnout in the first phase where polls were held in four constituencies.

In principle, both work visas and work permits allow non-citizens to legally work in a foreign nation, although they differ slightly. Here’s how a work visa differs from a work permit:

A visa is a document granted by a nation’s embassy or consulate that allows a visitor to enter and transit the country for a defined reason and duration. A visitor’s visa, for example, permits a person to enter the nation to visit, while a work visa allows them to work.

In most cases, you must apply for and get a visa before arriving in the country. Visas are often stamps or actual stickers attached to your passport.

A work visa allows visitors to enter the country for a certain time to work in a specified sector or job. You must get it before entering the country. In many cases, the employer must submit a petition on your behalf for approval.

Work visas are usually valid for up to a year. If your work visa expires while you are still in the country, you may seek to renew it. If you leave the country with an expired work visa, you will be denied re-entry until you renew it, even if you have a valid work permit.

A work permit is a legally sanctioned document that allows an individual who is already in the nation to work without limitation. It doesn’t give you permission to enter or exit the nation.

India gets Igla-S anti-aircraft missiles from Russia: All you need to know

A fresh batch of Russia-made Igla-S Man Portable Air Defence Systems (MANPADS) has reached India, The Print reported citing defence sources. The Indian Army received 24 Igla-S MANPADS, which were accompanied by 100 missiles. A comment from Indian official is awaited. 

The delivery is said to be a part of a larger procurement deal, which will also include domestic production in India reportedly under a Russian licence. 

Igla-S is a hand-held anti-aircraft missile, which can bolster Indian Army's combat capability in various sensitive locations. 

It can be fired by an individual or crew in order to bring down an enemy aircraft. 

This portable anti-aircraft missile system is designed to engage all types of targets. 

It can hit aircraft and helicopters, as well as small airborne targets such as cruise missiles and drones. 

As per reports, it has an effective range of up to six kilometres. Its optimal altitude for effectively destroying targets is limited to 3.5 kilometres.
