Will Bangladesh benefit from BRICS?
Bangladesh is among 20 countries that have applied for membership in the BRICS grouping of countries, with the applications likely to be taken up at the summit meeting in August. Bangladesh sees BRICS membership as a vehicle to further strengthen its export market as well as boost investment in infrastructure. Over the years the BRICS nations collectively have taken on the identity of a strong voice of the global south against Western and American hegemony.
