Vande Mataram row: BJP slams Congress for reaffirming its 1937 resolution

The political row over Vande Mataram has intensified as the BJP passes a resolution targeting the Congress over its position on the national song.
The BJP says it will launch a nationwide awareness campaign highlighting the history and significance of Vande Mataram, with a special focus on young people. The party has also invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s views as part of its campaign.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has defended the party’s existing practice regarding the national song and national anthem at Congress functions.
