A Moscow court condemned former journalist and campaigner for the Russian opposition Vladimir Kara-Murza to 25 years in prison after finding him guilty of treason and disparaging the military. This is the worst penalty of its kind since Russians enacted a law last year making it illegal to criticise the military forces or the government's choice to declare war on Ukraine.
