The sun has been shining in Moscow today for the high-profile event. Russia celebrated Victory Day with a parade on May 9. The day commemorates the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. The Russian military holds a parade at Moscow’s Red Square and in other cities to mark the event. One of the other anticipated parts of the parade was President Putin's speech. Addressing the crowd, Putin characterised the war against Ukraine as a war for Russia’s survival and future.
