The Supreme Court of India has pulled up comedians including Samay Raina, Vipul Goyal, and others for jokes mocking persons with disabilities. The bench emphasized that speech cannot hurt community sentiments, especially when monetized. The court ordered the comics to issue a public apology across their platforms, following a petition by Cure SMA Foundation of India. The case also touches on related content controversies involving social media influencers.
