The Supreme Court of India has expressed concerns over the self-regulation mechanism of television channels. Pointing out that the current framework has proven 'ineffective', the top court said it would issue guidelines to help strengthen such regulation. It suggested that penalties imposed by the NBDA upon TV channels must be proportionate to profits. Mohammed Saleh tells you more.
