During the Mughal era, Muslims celebrated Holi in the Red Fort and Agra Fort. Holi was performed by Emperors Jahangir and Akbar with the populace during 'Mehfil-e-Holi' events. Mughal emperors celebrated Holi with Hindu ministers, while Sufi poets exploited the occasion to call for harmony.
