In a stunning discovery, British archaeologists recently discovered eerie medieval gravestones&nbsp;while carrying a search operation near an ancient shipwreck.

In a press release, Bournemouth University announced the deadly discovery. The gravestones were discovered in Studland Bay, which was off the coast of Dorset, and are said to be present at the bottom of the English Channel for 800 years.

"The slabs, carved from Purbeck marble, were amongst the cargo of England’s oldest historic shipwreck, which sank off the Dorset coast during the&nbsp;reign of Henry III&nbsp;in the thirteenth century," read the press release.&nbsp;

In 1216, the son of&nbsp;King John Henry III took the throne and ruled till he died in 1272. The grave slabs found seemed remarkably preserved across the centuries, even though one of the slabs was covered in barnacles.

<h2>Archaeologists spend two hours retrieving gravestones</h2>

It took more than two hours for the maritime archaeologists to bring the stones back to the surface on Tuesday (June 11).

"One immaculately preserved slab measures one and a half metres and weighs an estimated 70 kilogrammes," said the press release.&nbsp;

"The other, much larger slab is in two pieces, with a combined length of two metres and a weight of around 200 kilogrammes," it added. The weight of the slabs was nearly 154 pounds and 440 pounds, respectively.

According to the archaeologists, the gravestones appeared to have been made for the important members of the clergy, those who were venerated in medieval English society.

"Both have carvings of Christian crosses which were popular in the thirteenth century and the research team believe they were intended to be coffin lids or crypt monuments for high-status individuals in the clergy," read the statement.

Archaeologist Tom Cousins, who led the study, said that they have also found the type of stone, which was used in the slabs, in Westminster Abbey, Canterbury Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral.

Police in Los Angeles&nbsp;have busted a Lego theft ring and arrested two people after they found&nbsp;more than 2,800 stolen sets of the toys. In another mid-air scare, a plane's tyre blew off and forced it to make an emergency landing in Colorado, United States.&nbsp;

Southwest Airlines&nbsp;Flight&nbsp;225 took off from Denver&nbsp;International Airport just after 6.30 pm (local time) on Monday (June 3) and was en route to Arizona but it was forced to turn back after 41 minutes, as per FlightAware.

Police in the Greek island have launched a broad search and rescue operation involving&nbsp;firefighters, sniffer dogs, helicopter and drones. Authorities believe he may have been affected by the heat during his walk.

A UK Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who is missing in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities."

Sunita Williams, the Indian-American NASA astronaut, has once again taken her rich cultural heritage into the cosmos aboard the Boeing Starliner.&nbsp;

Williams, along with fellow astronaut Barry "Butch" Wilmore,&nbsp;embarked on her third space journey on Wednesday (June 5) morning.

She went to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Boeing Starliner capsule's inaugural crewed mission.

As per reports, Williams is known for integrating her Indian roots with her space endeavours.

The 58-year-old astronaut&nbsp;has often shared how she carries elements of her culture into orbit.&nbsp;In previous missions, she had brought sacred Hindu texts such as the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, as well as iconic Indian snacks like samosas.&nbsp;

"I really appreciate my Indian heritage and was glad I could bring part of it with me to space," Williams said during a 2013 news conference in Delhi.

She also carries a figurine of Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu god, with her.

"Ganesh has always been in my house. Everywhere I’ve lived, I’ve had Ganesh, and so he had to come with me to space, of course. And Indian food — you can never get enough of Indian food … so I had to make sure I had some samosas in space with me. Other types of Indian food we definitely had up there as well."

Sunita Williams, whose mother is a Slovene-American, has also taken the Slovenian flag, and Carniolan sausage to space in celebration of her Slovenian heritage.&nbsp;

The 53-year-old reverend, during the sermon, explained that the death of Jesus Christ is likely to have occurred because of an erection which may have been triggered by the violent execution method subjected to him.&nbsp;

He allegedly said that when Christ was hung on the crucifix, blood would have rushed to his lower body and led to the erection.

As per some studies, post-mortem erections are commonly found in corpses of men who have died because of hanging or other forms of suffocation, like crucifixion.

Although it remains a mystery if Jesus went through the same human response, the diocese of Hexham &amp; Newcastle called the speculation inappropriate for Easter services.
