<p>The survey revealed that a huge number of people prefer hybrid working, where they have the option of working from an office some days and choosing to work from home on others. About 51 per cent of employers are open to this option over fully remote working.</p>

The findings added that she was fired from IAG on February 20 for missing deadlines and meetings, being absent and unaccountable, and failing to lodge a product disclosure statement which led to the industry regulator fining IAG.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Woman claims she was targeted</strong></h2>

<p>A month later, Cheikho claimed to the commission that her company had a "premeditated plan to remove her from the business and that she was targeted due to her mental health issues."</p>

<p>However, the findings showed that the woman's dismissal did not come without warning. The 7News report said that Cheikho received a formal warning in November last year about her output, and she was put on a performance improvement plan.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>A detailed review of cyber activity carried out</strong></h2>

<p>Cheikho was the subject of a detailed review of her cyber activity. The review took a look at how many times she pressed buttons on her keyboard on 49 working days from October to December last year.</p>

<p>The review found out that she started late on 47 days, did not work her rostered hours for 44 days, finished early on 29 days and performed zero hours of work on four days.</p>

<p>It also found on the days she did log on she had “very low keystroke activity” and recorded zero strokes over 117 hours in October, 143 hours in November, and 60 hours in December.</p>

<p>According to FWC President Thomas Roberts, the evidence showed the woman was not working as she was required to do during her designated working hours while being monitored.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A significant majority of employees still work on-site, despite the growing acceptance of remote and hybrid work modes, highlighting the need for a wider change in work culture.</p>

<p>According to Dr. Taehyun Roh, an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, workers used their computers actively from Monday through Thursday, while Fridays saw a considerable decline in productivity.</p>

<p>A secondary survey for Canon USA revealed that, for 28 per cent of workers, Monday is the most productive day, with introverts favouring the beginning of the week in particular for their peak output.</p>

<p>The survey also revealed that workers were less productive in the afternoons and more likely to make mistakes, particularly on Fridays, which was consistent with the declining trend in task completion as the week came to a close.</p>

A report by Bloomberg mentioned that when the IT giant ended the work-from-home policy, more female employees decided not to return to the office as compared to male employees.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Not just TCS, the work-from-home policy was implemented in various sectors during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to curb the spread of the deadly virus. But the economies across the world gradually reopened when the lockdown measures were relaxed and many companies started to call their employees back to office.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the report shows that the attrition among women was reported to be higher at TCS when it called employees back to work, which was unusual for the company, where female attrition has historically been either lower or similar to their male counterparts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the company's annual report last week, Chief Human Resources Officer of TCS Milind Lakkad said, "I would think working from home during the pandemic reset the domestic arrangements for some women, keeping them from returning to office."&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the report, the work-from-home scenario has provided the flexibility to work remotely. In recent years, it has helped companies to attract and retain talent.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What was claimed in previous media reports?</strong></h2>

<p>Earlier, a Times of India report had referred to “memos” that TCS allegedly sent to its employees to claim that the company warned its employees of “disciplinary action” if the roster was not followed. It also quoted the “memo” as reading, “You are warned and directed to start reporting to work from your office location as per the assigned roster with immediate effect.”</p>

On the other hand, other companies, such as Infosys, have asked their employees to come to the office, but that has not been made mandatory.</p>

<h2><strong>'100 per cent remote work model not feasible'</strong></h2>

<p>TCS made an announcement last year stating that it would not permit employees to work fully remotely as the COVID-19 pandemic significantly subsided. Instead, the company sent emails to its employees instructing them to work from the office three days a week or 12 days a month.</p>

<p>According to TCS's approach, only a maximum of 25 per cent of its employees will be required to work from the office at any given time. The company had previously mentioned that the scheduling of office attendance would be based on project requirements and would involve a combination of both freshers and experienced professionals.</p>

Work from home has pushed golfing enthusiasts to hit the course more often than ever, especially on weekdays, a new report has found. The report by Stanford researchers says that work from home led to a huge boom in golfing. The increase was especially on Wednesdays than any other day of the week. Mid-afternoon seems to be the most preferred time for golfers who were also working from home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report found that more golfers played the sport on weekdays in 2022 as compared to 2019. There was a 143 per cent rise in golfing on Wednesdays when seen against the figures during the same day in 2019.&nbsp;</p>

<p>More golfers played mid-afternoon than at any other time of the day. A comparison of 2022 with 2019 showed that there was a 278 per cent hike in golfing at 4 pm on Wednesdays.</p>

<p>The reason, researchers believe, can be pointed to the possibility that these people are taking up golfing during their shift breaks. Since while working from home you are at ease using your break as you like, golfers chose to go to the golf course.</p>

<p>The report might lead companies to think that if employees are going away to golf courses during work hours, it might be affecting their productivity. However, that is not true, researchers say. Several reports have established that productivity was much higher during the pandemic years when people were working from home. Besides, if these employees make up for the lost time by doing extra hours later, productivity continues to stay high, the study says.</p>

<p>The next good thing about the results of this study is that golf course is now getting higher usage. Since now golfers aren't restricted to going to the course only on weekends and overcrowding it, the course is being utilised in a much better way. Staggered usage spread across the week at different times means that golfers are getting much better use out of the golf courses.</p>

<p>"Golf courses are getting higher usage by spreading playing across the day and week, avoiding weekend and pre/post work peak-loading. This will raise golf productivity, that is, the number of golf courses played (and revenue raised) per course," the study says.</p>

<p>The study can be applied to other fields as well, such as shopping malls, gyms, salons and other such places. This means that higher usage is being squeezed from these places as well, meaning better use of resources, consequently increasing national productivity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When people get more time to go out and about and make use of these places, they are adding to the country's GDP. &nbsp;</p>
