However, experts are of the opinion they are too attached to the MAGA campaign that they may further end up ostracising a neutral electorate. On the other hand, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is being hailed as the most appealing to the general electorate. She is not just a staunch Trump loyalist but also has administrative experience as a governor since 2019. Much to the delight of Trump and his supporters, she has thrown her weight behind several right-wing measures.

Haley, who previously served as the UN ambassador under Trump, took issue with their refusal to express a clear position on whether they want Ukraine to succeed in its war against Russia.&nbsp;

<h2>What is their stand?</h2>

In a recent statement, Trump stated that he wanted the war to end and that he would assist in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

DeSantis too has expressed his support for a settlement to the war and said he hoped for an end to the fighting by the time he becomes the president in January 2025.&nbsp;

Haley, during a CNN town hall event in Iowa, criticized DeSantis for referring to the conflict as a "territorial dispute," a statement he has since retracted.&nbsp;

Despite being among the Republican contenders, Haley faces strong competition from Trump, who leads the field with 49 per cent support, and DeSantis, who follows with 19 per cent support in Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll conducted in May.&nbsp;

<h2>The race for White House</h2>

As per Reuters, Haley and other candidates polling in the single digits are attempting to differentiate themselves from DeSantis in the hopes that he stumbles, allowing them to emerge as the primary alternative to Trump.&nbsp;

Some candidates, including Haley, have also started criticising Trump directly, a departure from their previous reluctance to do so out of fear of alienating his loyal supporters.&nbsp;

Trump was also questioned on Thursday in a civil fraud case filed by New York's Attorney General Letitia James last year which claims that Trump, along with his family misled banks and business partners by providing them misleading information.&nbsp;

During the deposition, which was held privately, reports quoting sources familiar with the proceedings said Trump answered all questions for about seven hours. He also did not invoke Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination.&nbsp;

In the past, Trump invoked the Fifth for over 400 times and refused to answer questions before lawyers from James' office in its probe into the Trump's business practices.&nbsp;The Fifth Amendment in US Constitution includes legal proceedings, including one that says no one “shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself”.

The case is said to go to trial later this year.&nbsp;

After the deposition concluded, a lawyer for Trump’s businesses, Christopher Kise reportedly said Trump during his deposition explained in detail his "extraordinary business success.”

“The transactions at the center of this case were wildly profitable for the banks and for the Trump entities,” Kise said. “When the facts of this success, and not politically engineered soundbites, are out in the open, everyone will scoff at the notion any fraud took place.”

Dramatically raising the stakes of the 2024 United States Presidential elections, Donald Trump on Saturday warned that he's the only candidate capable of saving America from "warmonger" Democrats and the "zealots and fools" of the mainstream Republican party. Addressing the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, the former president further reiterated his previous claim that the world may be heading towards "World War III."

He claimed, "Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, I will have the disastrous war between Russia and Ukraine settled. It will be settled quickly."

US presidential hopeful Nikki Haley on Tuesday (February 28) promised a big shake-up of America's foreign policy if she gets elected to power next year. "America can't be the world's ATM," underlined the 51-year-old Indian-American leader, reiterating her stance on foreign affairs.

"A weak America pays the bad guys: Hundreds of millions to Pakistan, Iraq, and Zimbabwe last year alone. A strong America won’t be the world’s ATM (sic)," tweeted the Republican, who announced her presidential bid last month.&nbsp;

Apart from Pakistan, she also slammed China in an interview with the Fox news channel. "We can't buy friends. China would notice that we have been paying attention. Why are we paying them money for the environment? It's just ludicrous," she said in a clip she shared from the interview.

"We should not be giving them 1 cent. The idea that we give it to Iraq and they use it for uranium proxies that send death to America... the idea that we give it to Zimbabwe and they are the most anti-American African country out there. We're giving it to Cuba, and we label them as state-sponsored terror. Why are we doing that?"&nbsp;

But another Trump triumph in November may have its advantages for&nbsp;China&nbsp;as President Xi Jinping seeks to cement his nation's rise as a global superpower.

According to&nbsp;Professor Yan Xuetong, dean of the Institute of International Relations at Beijing's Tsinghua University,&nbsp;"If you ask me about where China's interests lie," he says, "the preference would be for Trump rather than Biden".

"Not because Trump will do less damage to China's interests than Biden, but because he definitely will damage the US more than Biden," he added.

"You can make America eccentric and thus hateful for the world," Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Global Times, a chest-beating nationalist paper, warned in a Tweet directed at the US president.&nbsp;

"You help promote unity in&nbsp;China."&nbsp;

Trump is also lampooned on&nbsp;China's heavily censored social media as 'Jianguo', meaning "help to build&nbsp;China".&nbsp;

Biden trouble

Trump has undoubtedly inflicted economic and political pain on&nbsp;China.

"China&nbsp;has lost out enormously in its plan for trade and technology," said Beijing-based political analyst Hua Po.

In January the US and&nbsp;China&nbsp;signed a deal bringing a partial truce in their trade war that obliged Beijing to import an additional $200 billion in American products over two years, ranging from cars to machinery and oil to farm products.

Washington has also turned its guns on Chinese tech firms it says poses security threats, throwing the future US operations of video-sharing app TikTok -- owned by Chinese parent company Bytedance -- into uncertainty.

Mobile giant Huawei is also on Trump's hitlist.

The enmity also extends into defence and human rights, with Taiwan, Hong Kong and the treatment of&nbsp;China's Muslim Uighur minority all making waves in the US.&nbsp;

But&nbsp;China&nbsp;may not win much relief in any of these areas if Trump loses to Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

Beijing worries that Biden is likely to renew American leadership on human rights, pressing&nbsp;China&nbsp;on issues of the Uighurs, Tibet and freedom in Hong Kong.

"Biden is likely to be tougher than Trump on human rights issues in Xinjiang and Tibet," said Zhu, of Bucknell University.

And on tech and trade -- crucial flashpoints in the US-China&nbsp;rivalry -- it is unclear just how much room a Biden White House would have to manoeuvre.&nbsp;

"Biden will inherit the tariffs, and I'm doubtful he would lift them unilaterally," said Bonnie Glaser, Director of the&nbsp;China&nbsp;Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

"Beijing will probably have to concede to other US demands if it wants the tariffs lifted."

China&nbsp;will also have to come up with convincing arguments on data security if it is to avoid more damaging bans on its tech firms.

Washington sees Huawei, the global leader on 5G internet, as a serious security threat.

According to Theresa Fallon, director of the Centre for Russia Europe Asia Studies in Brussels,&nbsp;"Politically, it will be almost impossible for Biden to reverse these policies."&nbsp;

"Huawei has been on the US radar as a security threat even before the Trump presidency," she added.

Later in the day, before leaving for a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump abruptly ended an interview with “60 Minutes” correspondent Lesley Stahl at the White House and then posted a short behind-the-scenes video of her at the taping, noting that she had not been wearing a mask.

Trump ended the interview after becoming irritated with Stahl’s lines of questioning, according to two people familiar with the circumstances of the taping.

The rally in Erie was another attempt to consolidate support in a state that was critical to the president’s success in 2016 but where he has struggled in polls against Biden.

The parties` estimates of the number of eligible dual citizens resident in Israel range from 100,000 to 300,000. Some experts who track the information said it was likely to be more than 250,000.

Half a dozen American-Israeli voters interviewed by Reuters identified the coronavirus crisis, economic policy and candidates` stands on Israel as guiding their decisions.

One New York voter, Hezi Kugler, said he was voting for Biden to bring "a return to decency and a restoration of integrity" at the highest level of government.

"Trump has done some things that are good for Israeli interests, but his lack of global leadership has created an enormous vacuum in the region that is generally bad for Israel," said Kugler, 62, an energy industry professional in Tel Aviv.

In the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh, Republican David Wiener said Trump was the right choice because he approached thorny Middle East conflicts "from a business perspective".

Last month, Trump hosted a White House ceremony in which Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed deals to establish formal relations.

"Gulf countries see Israel as an opportunity to expand their industries ... Trump took advantage of that with the UAE," said Wiener, 39, an aerospace engineer registered in Pennsylvania.

Palestinian outreach

Although the election is most visible in Israel, there are also many Palestinians eligible to vote.

The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has encouraged voting by both sides, hosting Facebook live events with Arabic subtitles geared towards residents of the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza.

For Democrats Abroad, Stone said she was working with Palestinian activists in East Jerusalem and in the Palestinian diaspora to get out the vote.

"We haven`t had much luck turning out voters here," she said.

In Gaza, where an estimated 300 American-Palestinians live, Kamal Abusharia said he hoped to vote for the first time since the early 1990s in part due to anger towards Trump.

But he held out little hope that Biden would reverse all of Trump`s pro-Israeli moves were he to win.

"I don`t think that Biden would work to (return) the embassy (to Tel Aviv) or put the issue of Palestinian refugees back on the table," he said.
