We don't take him seriously. He means it—all the stuff about 'if we lose, there'll be a bloodbath,'" added Biden.

Notably, while campaigning earlier this year, Biden frequently brought up the fact that Trump's supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, after Biden beat him in the 2020 election.

Trump questions Biden's cognitive abilities, mispronounces doctor's name in same speech

US President Joe Biden will be officially nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate through a virtual roll call prior to the party’s convention in Chicago in August. This process will enable Biden to appear on the November ballot in Ohio.

That committee vote is scheduled for June 4.

"If he really cares about the country -- and I have deep questions about that -- but if he really cares about the country, then he's going to get up there, and he shouldn't be afraid," Christie told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.&nbsp;

Christie has attacked Trump on many issues in recent past and has highlighted the escalating criminal probes that are targetting him. Christie has trashed Trump's claims of election fraud and even called him "Putin's puppet".

"Because he will attack Trump relentlessly, Christie's campaign will get a ton of coverage in the mainstream press, which may help him do well in New Hampshire," said John Ellis, former head of Fox News Election Night Decision Desk. He was quoted by AFP.

Christie's entry into the ring has come just a day after former US vice president and Trump's former running mate Mike Pence filed paperwork to enter the growing list of candidates. Pence's entry has set stage for an unusual scene in which two running mates will be competing against each other.

The evangelical Christian plans an official campaign launch on Wednesday in the early voting state of Iowa — joining an already crowded field that includes Florida governor Ron DeSantis, being&nbsp;viewed as Trump's closest competitor.

Former governors Nikki Haley and Asa Hutchinson are also in the race, while North Dakota's chief executive Doug Burgam is due to announce his bid on Wednesday.&nbsp;

<h2>Trump is the current frontrunner</h2>

Polls are currently showing that Donald Trump has a clear lead on his rivals within the party. He leads Ron DeSantis, his closest rival, in excess of 30 points.

However, Trump is increasingly engulfed in multiple criminal investigations that have yielded dozens of felony charges in New York.

In order to bring his campaign back on track, election experts believe that DeSantis will have to either win in Iowa or New Hampshire. Though a win may not be enough to win a nomination, it is necessary to take the fight to the last day of primaries. The likes of Barack Obama and John McCain, who polled in the low 20s in the nomination race, managed to make a comeback after winning Iowa and New Hampshire respectively, back in the day. The state served as a bastion for the Kennedy family. Prior to becoming president, JFK was the Democratic representative for Massachusetts in both chambers of the US Congress. The crowd at the campaign launch in Boston had Kennedy's supporters who wore hats bearing anti-vaccination themes.&nbsp;

During the event, Kennedy swore to tell the "truth" to the American people in order to address the country's severe political polarisation, as per AFP quoting the JFK nephew.&nbsp;

Former Governor of the US state of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, on Sunday (April 2) announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. In an interview with ABC News, following the announcement he also positioned himself as an alternative to former United States President Donald Trump, who was recently indicted by a grand jury in New York.&nbsp;

“I have made a decision, and my decision is I’m going to run for president of the United States,” Hutchison said to ABC News. He also went on to call for the former president to drop out of the race and added that “the office is more important than any individual person.” Notably, the former governor is the first Republican to announce a campaign after Trump became the first former US president to face criminal charges.&nbsp;

“I’m running because I believe that I am the right time for America, the right candidate for our country and its future,” said Hutchinson, during the interview. He added that he is convinced that Americans want leaders which will appeal “to the best of America and not simply appeal to our worst instincts”. The presidential candidate also said that a formal announcement will be made later this month in Arkansas’ Bentonville.&nbsp;

"We have a problem with this rising tide of white supremacy in America and we have a president who encourages and emboldens it," Biden said at a campaign event in Burlington, Iowa.

"In both clear language and in code, this president has fanned the flames of white supremacy in this nation," the 76-year-old former vice president said, using some of his harshest language yet about the Republican president.

Biden said Trump "offers no moral leadership" and shows "no interest in unifying the nation."

"Instead we have a president with a toxic tongue who has publicly and unapologetically embraced a political strategy of hate, racism, and division," he said.

Trump has been accused by his Democratic critics and others of promoting white nationalism with his frequent attacks on immigrants and minorities.

A 21-year-old white man killed 22 people in El Paso, Texas over the weekend in a mass shooting he said was carried out to repel a "Hispanic invasion."

Biden laid some of the blame at Trump's doorstep.

"How far is it from Trump's saying this is 'an invasion' to the shooter in El Paso declaring 'this attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas?'" Biden asked. "Not far at all."

Biden cited the actions of past presidents and said they "chose to fight for what the best of American character is about."

"We don't have that today," he said. "We have a president who has aligned himself with the darkest forces in this nation.

"And that makes winning the battle for the soul of this nation that much harder."&nbsp;

Biden said America was going through a rare episode in its history with a president who "isn't up to the moment, where our president lacks the moral authority to lead."

New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, another 2020 Democratic hopeful, also denounced Trump on Wednesday, in a speech at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, where nine black parishioners were shot dead in 2015 by a white supremacist.

Booker, one of two main African-American candidates in the race, said the United States was being led by a "president who spews hateful rhetoric and endangers the lives of people of colour and immigrants." &nbsp;

He said the El Paso attack "was sowed by those who spoke the same words the El Paso murderer did: warning of an 'invasion.'"

"It was sowed by those who spoke of an 'infestation,' and 'rats and rodents' in majority Black cities," Booker added in a reference to Trump's comments about the city of Baltimore.

Trump on Wednesday said he opposed "white supremacy or any other kind of supremacy" and accused Democrats of trying to score "political points."

Tweeting while heading to El Paso for a condolence visit, Trump also said he watched Biden's speech and declared it "Sooo Boring!"

"The LameStream Media will die in the ratings and clicks with this guy," he said. "It will be over for them, not to mention the fact that our Country will do poorly with him."
