On Saturday, the Russian defence ministry claimed that its forces had carried out attacks on Ukrainian locations across the country and accused Kyiv of bombarding the area around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility.

The ministry said Russian soldiers carried out attacks in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. It also stated that Ukrainian forces had launched an abortive offensive close to Pravdyne in Kherson.

Radiation levels at Zaporizhzhia, Europe's largest nuclear power station, are still within normal limits. According to the report, two instances of Ukrainian shelling were seen close to the plant on Saturday.

A representative for the Ukrainian foreign ministry denied that their troops had shelled the area around the facility.

The mayor of the pro-Russian separatist-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, Alexey Kulemzin, announced on Telegram that four persons had been killed by shelling in the city's centre. Kulemzin noted that shell fragments from French-made Caesar howitzers had been discovered.

While WION takes utmost care to accurately report this developing news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos. Days after liberating thousands of acres of the occupied region from the Russian troops, the Ukrainian authorities on Friday began the process of examining the mass burial site, discovered a day earlier in the east Ukrainian town of Izyum. The officials stated that 99 per cent of the exhumed bodies found at the burial site had signs of violent death, meaning the Russian troops tortured and mutilated them when killing. "Among the bodies that were exhumed today, 99 percent showed signs of violent death. There are several bodies with their hands tied behind their backs, and one person is buried with a rope around his neck." said Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv regional administration. Synegubov further stated that these people were obviously tortured and executed by the Russian barbarians. Read more: Mass grave with over 400 bodies found in Izium in Kharkiv region recaptured last week, says Ukraine Additionally, the graves of the buried were not marked with names or dates. The Russian troops simply marked a number while burying the dead, leaving no trail for the Ukrainian authorities to identify the victims. According to locals, those exhumed were most likely killed by the Russian forces who occupied the city for the last six months and used it as the base for launching military operations in the Donbas region. The Russian troops attacked Izyum in April and according to witnesses, over 100 were killed in the first assault as Russian bombs were hurled. The emergency service workers wearing blue plastic may have also stumbled upon the graves of little children, who, according to the locals were one of the earliest casualties in the attack. As reported by WION, after the burial site was discovered by Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky in an address informed that the process of verification will begin the next day. "In Izyum, Kharkiv region, a mass burial of people was found. The necessary procedural actions have already started there, more information, clear and verified, should be available tomorrow," said Zelensky in the address. This Sushi bar in Ukraine stays open despite air raid or missile strikes

Following the release of a video showing him recruiting inmates for the Ukraine war, a Russian mercenary boss defended the idea of doing so.

The leader of the Wagner organisation, Yevgeny Prigozhin, suggested that individuals who do not want to send prisoners to combat send their own children in their place. Earlier, the released video showed him promising to rescue prisoners who served six months with his organisation.

It's thought that since 2014, the Wagner group has been engaged in combat in Ukraine.

After the video went viral, Prigozhin released a statement on social media in which he claimed that if he were imprisoned, he would "dream of" joining the Wagner group to "pay my debt to the Motherland."

After the video went viral, Prigozhin released a statement on social media in which he claimed that if he were imprisoned, he would "dream of" joining the Wagner group to "pay my debt to the Motherland." He also included a warning for those who oppose using prisoners or mercenaries in combat. Choose for yourself: "Either private military corporations and prisoners, or your children," he continued. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, several sanctions were imposed on the country as a result of which pilots of regional airlines are being instructed to carry out maintenance of their own aircraft, Newsweek reported. Oleg Bocharov, Russia's deputy minister of industry and trade, made the statement earlier this month at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

"Together with the ministry of transport, we must train and certify pilots as universal fighters. They must simultaneously be pilots and aircraft technicians. And the equipment should provide for the possibility of field repairs in operation," Bocharov said.

"We are talking about pilots, primarily of regional aviation, for which a fundamentally new system for maintaining the airworthiness of new types of domestic regional aircraft should be created," he said.

Western sanctions have badly hit the Russian aviation industry, with US, European Union (EU), UK and Canada banning Russian airlines from their airspaces. Aeroflot, Russia's flagship carrier, had to even suspend all international flights, except to Belarus.

In what EU claims is a decision not influenced by the Ukraine invasion, it added 21 Russian airlines to its Air Safety List in April, which prevents them from operating in its territory on "safety grounds".

Hit hard by sanctions, Russia wants its pilots to fix their own aircraft

In a setback for the thousands of Indian undergraduate medical students who were studying in Ukraine but were forced to return due to the conflict with Russia, the Centre informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that there are no legal provisions in place to allow them to be accommodated in local medical colleges.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has not yet approved the transfer or housing of any foreign medical students at any Indian medical institutes or universities, the Center claimed in an affidavit.

In a group of petitions submitted by undergraduate medical students in their first through fourth years at various overseas medical colleges and institutions, who are principally seeking transfer to medical colleges in India in their respective semesters, the government filed its response.

"It is humbly submitted that in so far as such students are concerned, there are no such provisions either under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 or the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 as well as the Regulations to accommodate or transfer medical students from any foreign medical institutes/colleges to Indian medical colleges", the government said.

However, it stated that in order to help and support these returning students who were unable to complete their MBBS programmes in Ukraine, NMC in consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a Public Notice dated September 6, 2022, indicating that NMC would accept completion of their remaining programmes abroad (with the approval of parent university/Institution in Ukraine).

The government stated that the parent institutions in Ukraine are expected to award the certificate, completion, or degree after they have finished their remaining courses.

According to the students' claims, it is unclear whether Indian universities fall under the category of "universities in different countries globally" even though the public notice from September 6 states that there is no opposition to the academic mobility programme, which involves temporarily relocating the affected foreign students in different foreign countries around the world.

According to the government, these students have alleged that their respective Ukrainian Medical Universities turned them down when they applied under the academic mobility programme for academic mobility in the first semester of the academic year 2022–2023.

"It is humbly submitted that the aforesaid affidavit (of the student) is completely frivolous and misleading. It is submitted that in so far as the aforesaid academic mobility program is concerned, the same was introduced only for those students, who were not able to continue their education due to war like situation in Ukraine", the Centre said.

It further stated that the word "global mobility" in the public notice dated September 6 should not be taken to suggest housing these students in Indian colleges or universities because current Indian policies do not authorise student immigration from foreign universities to India.

US President Joe Biden announced a new $600 million arms package for Kyiv, Ukraine. Pope Francis has deviated from the Vatican's long-standing policy of staying neutral and said that it was morally acceptable to supply weapons to Ukraine so that it can defend itself.

Pope: Self defence is an expression of love towards homeland

Pope Francis said on Friday that it was 'morally acceptable' to supply weapons to Ukraine to enable it to defend itseld against Russian aggression. He expounded on Roman Catholic Church's "Just War" principles to support his opinion. The Pope was speaking with reporters aboard a plane as he returned from a three-day visit to Kazakhstan. The Pope also urged Ukraine to be open to dialogue.

Pope Francis was speaking to the reporters in 45-minute-long airborne news conference. A reporter asked whether it was morally right for countries to send weapons to Ukraine.

"This is a political decision which it can be moral, morally acceptable, if it is done under conditions of morality," Francis said.

He cited principles of 'Just war', which allow for the proportional use of deadly weapons for self defence against an aggressor nation.

"Self defence is not only licit but also an expression of love for the homeland. Someone who does not defend oneself, who does not defend something, does not love it. Those who defend (something) loves it," he said.

Explaining the difference between when it is moral or immoral to supply weapons to another country, Francis said:

"It can be immoral if the intention is provoking more war, or to sell arms or dump arms that (a country) no longer needs. The motivation is what in large part qualifies the morality of this action," he said.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. Western nations including the US have rushed millions of dollars of worth of weaponry to Ukraine. After suffering setbacks after setbacks in first six months of the war, Ukraine has recently been able recapture substantial area in the country's eastern parts.

According to a recent preprint publication released by Kyiv's Main Astronomical Observatory in collaboration with the nation's National Academy of Science, experts in the country are looking to the skies and observing something they didn't expect: an excessive amount of Unidentified flying objects (UFO).

Although the Pentagon in the United States has long hinted, speculated, and warned that some UFOs may be cutting-edge military technology from foreign militaries, particularly China and Russia (though it hasn't really provided any evidence this is actually the case), the paper does not specifically address the war.

The Ukraine paper is noteworthy in particular because it not only demonstrates how science has continued to advance during the war, but also provides an explanation for these sightings.

“We see them everywhere,” the research said. “We observe a significant number of objects whose nature is not clear.”

'Unidentified aerial phenomena I' is the title of the essay. Events are observed using data from the main astronomical observatory of the NAS in Kyiv and Vinarivka, a village south of Kyiv. The authors of the study claim that because of their interest in the topic, observatories decided to take on the task of looking for UFOs as a separate initiative.

The researchers separated the phenomenon they saw into two groups: Cosmics and Phantoms. "We note that Cosmics are luminous objects, brighter than the background of the sky. We call these ships names of birds (swift, falcon, eagle). Phantoms are dark objects, with contrast from several to about 50 per cent," the paper said.

The simple explanation would be that these are rockets, missiles, or some other weapon used in the conflict. However, the scientists say that it is "not clear" what they are.

After many encounters were documented on camera by Navy pilots, UFOs have once again gained public attention. The Pentagon responded to Congress' requests for information by stating that it has observed some odd phenomena but required more time and resources to properly investigate them. Congress granted them both, and the Pentagon activated the AARO to investigate the mysterious celestial objects.

The Pentagon's new agency needs to concentrate on UFOs that aren't "man-made," according to a recent amendment in a Senate intelligence budget report that stated that the threat of UFOs was growing "exponentially."
