Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News anchor, claims that he "knows" he was fired as a condition of the $787.5 million settlement the network had to reach with Dominion Voting Systems regarding the broadcast of Donald Trump's lie about election fraud.

As per a report by The Guardian, the former host in his new book 'Tucker' told Chadwick Moore, his biographer that "They (Fox News) agreed to take me off the air, my show off the air, as a condition of the Dominion settlement."

He also claims that pressure from politicians in Washington contributed to him getting "cancelled".

<h2>The 'deal'</h2>

As per Carlson, the deal was reached just minutes&nbsp;before the trial started.&nbsp;

"They had to settle this; Rupert (Murdoch, the 92-year-old Fox News owner) couldn’t testify. I think that deal was made minutes before the trial started."

"I mean, I know it was," he added in the book, which as per All Seasons Press, its publisher, will be published in the US on August 1st. The book as per All Seasons Press is a based on "hundreds of hours of interviews with Carlson, his family, colleagues, acquaintances and enemies".

<h2>The 'firing'</h2>

Tucker Carlson was taken off-air in April. While he remains under contract with Fox News, Tucker has since started broadcasting his own show on Twitter, engaging his employer in a face-off of sorts.

Dominion Voting Systems, as per the report, denies that Carlson was fired as part of the settlement of its defamation suit and says he was merely taken off-air.&nbsp;

In the book, Moore has reportedly quoted the company's denial, saying that a Dominion attorney "wanted to make clear personally that Dominion made no requests or demands whatsoever regarding Mr Carlson’s employment with Fox or his appearance, or non-appearance, on Fox News."

Fox News too has long denied that the anchor was removed in connection with the Dominion defamation case.

In the book, Carlson describes the call he received on April 24th, which allegedly told him his time at Fox News was over.

He recalls that he first thought that Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott was calling him to congratulate on completing six years as Fox News prime-time host.&nbsp;

"I was first confused, and then shocked," he said, describing what went through his mind.

"It was just, 'We’re taking you off the air.' No explanation why, and they've let me guess ever since. That's literally all I know. I asked if I violated my contract. They said, no, I'm not fired, I'm still under contract."

Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson is planning to start a new media company, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported.

It has been reported that Carlson is “seeking to raise funds” for the new venture that could use Twitter as a backbone.

Under this proposed model, shorter versions of Carlson’s videos could be viewed on Twitter, but users would have to subscribe to watch the full videos.

However, it remains to be seen whether Carlson succeeds in launching his own TV channel as Fox has sent him a cease and desist letter for allegedly breaching his contract by creating content on Twitter.

The US-based newspaper reported that Carlson, along with former White House adviser Neil Patel, have already lined up “financiers, lawyers and media strategists”.

<h2>Using Twitter as backbone</h2>

Their media venture would eventually include videos from other hosts and have its own website and mobile app.

The Journal reports that Carlson and Patel are hesitant to use YouTube given over concerns that their videos could be censored by the platform.

Both have already met with Twitter employees to discuss about the platform’s “readiness” for features like watching Twitter videos on a television, the Journal reports.

In an official statement, Fox News did not disclose the reason, saying that both Carlson and the network had “mutually” agreed to separate.

As the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight, the prime time host became the biggest name in US cable news, regularly drawing more than 3 million nightly viewers with a pugnacious style that took aim at targets ranging from liberal politicians to LGBTQ activists and the CIA.

While hugely popular among conservatives, Carlson’s show drew criticism and attracted advertiser boycotts over its allegedly racist and sexist content.

The feud between Fox News and Tucker Carlson has escalated. The network has demanded that Carlson stop posting videos on Twitter that bear eerie similarities to his previous show.&nbsp;

Fox has sent a letter to Carlson, accusing him of violating the terms of his contract which runs until 2025 and limits his ability to appear in media, other than Fox, according to a report by the New York Times.&nbsp;

After receiving the letter, Carlson's lawyer, Harmeet Dhillon said his "friend and client" would not be silenced, either by the far left or Fox News.&nbsp;

“Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election,” the statement read. “Tucker will not be silenced by anyone.”

Fox News warns Tucker Carlson against posting new videos on Twitter

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who exited the network last month, said early Wednesday (May 10) that he would relaunch his show on Twitter soon. Taking to Twitter, Carlson posted a video where he said, "Starting soon, we'll be bringing a new version of the show we've been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter.”&nbsp; 
 
“We bring some other things too, which we'll tell you about. But for now, we're just grateful to be here,” he added.

Carlson pointed out that there are not many platforms that allow free speech, and the last big one remaining in the world, the only one is Twitter. "Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site, everybody is allowed here," he added.&nbsp;

After exiting Fox News, Tucker Carlson to relaunch show on Twitter; Elon Musk says this

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has waded into controversy after leaked videos showed him describing an unnamed woman as 'yummy' and making several other inappropriate comments on the set of his popular show.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In one of the videos, Carlson is seen conversing with someone off-camera when he says, “You wouldn’t. OK? I’m not....qualified on that score. I will say, I thought his girlfriend was kind of yummy.”

Afterwards, Carlson clarifies that he was 'kidding' and jokes about the footage of his comments being leaked to&nbsp;Media Matters - a liberal media outlet that tracks conservative outlets.&nbsp;

“Hey, Media Matters for America, go f— yourself...I don’t even know what his girlfriend looks like. And if I did, I would not find her yummy,” Carlson says.

Explained: How Tucker Carlson's years of controversies at Fox News ended in his ouster

Tucker Carlson, one of the most prominent faces of Fox News, is leaving the network immediately, the channel announced on Monday. News of Carlson leaving comes days after the network settled a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the company said in a statement on Monday. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

Carlson is not going to receive a formal send-off and his last show aired Friday.

In its $1.6 billion defamation suit, the Toronto-headquartered voting equipment company accused Fox News of promoting Donald Trump's false claims about the voting machines being rigged in the 2020 elections. Dominion says that Fox News knew that Trump was lying and still aired his falsehoods.&nbsp;

Carlson is seen as a top promoter of conspiracy theories at the network. He repeatedly said things that cast doubt over the legitimacy of the 2020 election. Carlson's private text messages with fellow hosts mocking Trump's claims about the election fraud have garnered attention.&nbsp;

One of the filings in the Dominion lawsuit revealed that some of the hosts mocked Trump's false election claims even while giving the matter a platform on air. A text from November 16, 2020, mentioned how Carlson said “Sidney Powell is lying” about having evidence for election fraud.&nbsp;

Dominion caught hold of Carlson’s group chat with other Fox primetime stars Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, and several more messages.&nbsp;

Fox Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch had acknowledged in a deposition that some Fox News hosts endorsed Trump's election lies in 2020. He also said in the testimony that he did nothing to stop them from doing so and promoting the claims.

Dominion says the channel started losing its audience after it first called Arizona for Biden and projected that he will win the presidency. In a bid to regain audience, it started endorsing Trump's conspiracy theories, it said.

"This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues."

Dominion hailed that its lawsuit forced Fox to admit that it published false information about Dominion.

"Nothing can ever make up for that," Dominion's CEO John Poulos said.

"Truthful reporting in the media is essential to our democracy. Dominion, our employees and our partners are grateful to the court for allowing the process for the truth to come out," he added.
