"After undergoing hospital tests, it was confirmed he had suffered a fracture-dislocation to his right ankle. The club will provide further updates in due course."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said&nbsp;his club had the utmost sympathy for Gomes.

"We feel very sorry," he said. "Was a really bad situation, very bad luck how he landed in the action.

"We can only send our best wishes and (we are) devastated for the situation."

However,&nbsp;Pochettino believed the red card shown to Son was harsh, particularly as referee Martin Atkinson had first produced a yellow card prior to seeing Gomes's injury.

Bale, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Spanish club, missed the trip to Munich for the Audi Cup pre-season tournament because he was not fit and had stayed in Madrid to train, Zidane said on Tuesday.

Media reports in Spain said the Welsh winger had been on the golf course on Tuesday while his team mates were losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, but Zidane was not about to start making any judgements.

"I am here, I'm here with my players, so I can't really say much. I hope that he has trained there," the Frenchman told reporters after Real beat Fenerbahce 5-3 to finish third in the tournament on Wednesday.

"I'm not going to stop anyone from doing something, you know? Everyone has their own responsibilities and we will see what he's been up to in Madrid.

"I'm not getting involved with his personal life. He stayed back to train. I think he has trained. And we will see about everything else."

The Bale saga has dominated the closed season at the Madrid club, with multiple media outlets suggesting he was on his way to China to join Jiangsu Suning only to then report that the move had been blocked by club president Florentino Perez.

On Wednesday, the Real players that did travel to Munich ensured the 13-times European champions had enough firepower up front against the Turkish side but Zidane did concede there was a problem with the number of goals they conceded.

"Yes, we're going to resolve that, we're going to work hard and I am one with my players," he added.

"I know we are going to push on and we're going to have a really good season. And that's it.

"Nobody likes to concede three goals. But the important thing for us is the victory. We won with five goals, and we could have scored more, but that's it."

Pochettino was concerned that his players would pick up injuries in a heated clash where United defender Eric Bailly hurt his knee when he tried to block Son Heung-min.

"Of course I was worried ... Bailly got injured and I'm sorry for that ... when players start to build their fitness and fight for their place, when something happens in pre season it's always tough," the Argentine added.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the prognosis for Bailly, who has been plagued by injuries in his time at Old Trafford, did not look encouraging.

"It seems that he's twisted his knee so we have to do some scans and checks on him. At first sight, it doesn't look great but let's see how it goes," the Norwegian told the club's television channel MUTV.

However, Solskjaer said he had no problems with the tackles his players faced.

"It's a competitive sport and we're preparing for the league. There was no tippy-toe football ... we didn't just receive. We gave as well. I thought it was a good game."

But his representative, Jonathan Barnett, told&nbsp;Sky Sports News any deal would have to be a permanent one.

"There will be no makeshift deals to get him out of the club," said Barnett, who said previously that Zidane has shown "no respect" for Bale's achievements at Real.

"Gareth is one of the best players on the planet. I can guarantee you he will not be going on loan to any club."

Bale has been deemed surplus to requirements at Real despite helping his side to a Spanish title and four Champions League crowns since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur six years ago.

His brace, including a brilliant bicycle kick, sank Liverpool in the 2018 final but he was not used as a regular starter by Zidane after the Frenchman returned to the Real bench in early March.

"Gareth is a Real Madrid player and for now he's staying as a Real Madrid player," said Barnett.

"If something comes along that suits us, then things could change and he could be gone in a day or a week. Or he could still be a Real player in three years, when his contract ends."
