<p>Casting doubts on a probably third film in the franchise, Todd Phillips said, “It was fun to play in this sort of sandbox for two movies. [B]ut I think we've said what we wanted to say in this world.”</p>

<p>But Joker was never supposed to be more than a single film. Before the release of the 2019 hit film, Todd Phillips intended <em>Joker</em> to be a standalone film. In an interview with Empire Magazine, he said that he pitched the film to WB executives with the suggestion to “begin a new division called DC Black."</p>

<p>Announcing a sequel to the 2019 hit film ‘Joker', American&nbsp;director Todd Phillips on Wednesday took to Instagram to confirm the news that the film is officially happening. He also revealed that he was moving ahead with the script, along with disclosing the title of the sequel- ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the Instagram post, Phillips shared a cover page for the script co-written with Scott Silver, with whom he collaborated on the first film. Phillip’s post also features actor Joaquin Phoenix, who can be seen reading the script of ‘Joker 2’, with a cigarette in his mouth.&nbsp;</p>

And as he loses his job, and is shunned by the society at large and even made fun of by his screen idol, chat show host and comedian Murray Franklin(Robert De Niro), Arthur unleashes mayhem on the city.&nbsp;</p>

The mental illness is just one of the justification given to why Arthur becomes the manic, murderous sociopath Joker. Phillips and Silver delve deeper into the world that we live in and question our lifestyle that creates lonely, insecure murderous men like Arthur. The writers also question anarchy, and in the most brazen way show us how society becomes when the gap between the rich and poor increases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film rests on Joaquin Phoenix, who despite a very lean frame, dominates every frame of 'Joker'. Phoenix is known for his versatility and has always been able to camouflage into whichever character he plays on the screen. In 'Joker', he has outdone himself.
