<p>The IMD issued a red alert for the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Pathanamthitta Collector, A Shibu, issued an order prohibiting night travel between 7:00 pm to 6:00 am and tourist activities like kayaking and boating in the hilly areas of Pathanamthitta district until Friday.</p>

<p>The order was issued in view of relentless heavy rainfall that has created flood-like situations in many parts of the state.</p>

<p>Pilgrims visiting Sabarimala have been advised to remain vigilant&nbsp;especially at night in view of the red alert issued in the district.</p>

<p>A trough of low at mean sea level lies over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level, the IMD stated in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin.</p>

<p>The squally weather, with the wind speed of 45-55 kilometres is likely over the East-central Arabian Sea and adjoining MaharashtraKarnataka-Kerala coasts. The organisation has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas for the next few days.&nbsp;</p>
