<p>Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has denied his involvement in the release of eight Indian Navy veterans by Qatar. On Tuesday, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy claimed that the actor had helped the Indian government and persuaded the Qatar government to release the eight Indian Navy veterans held captive in the state on charges of espionage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Modi should take Cinema star Sharuk Khan to Qatar with him since after MEA and NSA had failed to persuade the Shiekhs of Qatar, Modi pleaded with Khan to intervene and thus got an expensive settlement from the Qatar Shiekhs to free our Naval officers (sic)," Swamy said in reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's post on X.<br />

As Swamy's post went viral on social media, Khan's team issued a statement denying his role and shutting down Swamy's claim.</p>

<p>"Regarding the reports concerning Shah Rukh Khan's purported role in the release of India's naval officers from Qatar, the office of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan says that any such assertions of his involvement are unfounded, emphasizing the execution of this successful resolution solely rests with the Indian government officials and unequivocally denies Mr. Khans participation in this matter (sic)," Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani shared a statement on Instagram.</p>

<p>"Additionally, all matters involving diplomacy and statecraft are best executed by are very able leaders. Mr. Khan like many other indians is happy that the naval officers are home safe and wishes them all the best," the statement added.</p>

National Herald case: Subramanian Swamy seeks adjournment, next hearing on August 30

<p>The Supreme Court has agreed to examine a petition seeking to disqualify Congress president Rahul Gandhi from contesting Lok Sabha elections over his dual citizenship. This comes two days after the Centre issued a notice to Gandhi seeking the "factual position" on his citizenship within a fortnight.</p>

<p>In their petition before the Supreme Court, a group of activists have demanded that Gandhi's name should be removed from electoral rolls and sought his disqualification from contesting Lok Sabha polls.</p>

<p>The notice by the Union Home Ministry on Monday came on a complaint from Subramanian Swamy who claimed that Rahul Gandhi was a British national. A Home Ministry official said Swamy had first sent a complaint on Gandhi's citizenship issue in September 2017 and wrote a reminder recently.</p>

<p>A communication from Home Ministry said Swamy's letter also mentioned that in a British company's annual returns filed on October 10, 2005, and October 31, 2006, Rahul Gandhi's date of birth has been given as June 19, 1970, and he had declared his nationality as British.</p>

<p>As a row erupted, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the notice is a normal process and "not a big development" and that the timing of the communication is not relevant.</p>

<p>The issue of Gandhi's dual citizenship was first raised by BJP leader Subramanium Swamy in 2015, where he had written to the Prime Minister to deny the Congress president Indian citizenship. In November 2015, the Supreme Court has dismissed a public interest litigation demanding CBI probe into the citizenship row noting that PILs were not meant to target one individual or organisation but was a medium to resolve human suffering through good governance.</p>

<p>A bench of then Chief Justice of India H L Dattu and Justice Amitava Roy had rubbished the plea questioning the source and authenticity of the documents attached to a petition.</p>

<p>BJP leader Subramanian Swamy was today asked by the Supreme Court to satisfy it on the aspect of maintainability of his plea seeking a SIT probe into the death of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor&#39;s wife Sunanda Pushkar.</p>

<p>The apex court observed this while hearing Swamy&#39;s appeal against the Delhi High Court&#39;s October 26 last year&#39;s verdict dismissing his plea for a probe by a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) into Pushkar&#39;s death.</p>

<p>Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.</p>

<p>&quot;Before going into the merits, we need to be satisfied on maintainability (of the plea),&quot; a bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra and Amitava Roy told Swamy.</p>

<p>Swamy told the bench that when the matter relating to the probe into Indian Premier League (IPL) was going on, the issue of Pushkar&#39;s &quot;unnatural death&quot; came to fore.</p>

<p>&quot;It took one year for Delhi Police to lodge an FIR. The autopsy report says it was an unnatural death. The FIR says it was a murder. Nothing has been done,&quot; he told the court, adding that he had thereafter moved the high court.</p>

<p>To this, the bench asked, &quot;what is the conclusion of the police?&quot;</p>

<p>Swamy then contended that the FIR said it was an unnatural death based on the post-mortem report.</p>

<p>Swamy, in his plea before the high court, had alleged that the police had &quot;botched up&quot; the probe and accused Tharoor of &quot;interfering&quot; in the investigation as a minister in the erstwhile UPA regime and later.</p>

<p>The division bench of the high court had chastised the BJP leader and his lawyer, who was a co-petitioner before it, for making &quot;sweeping allegations&quot; in the petition against Tharoor and the Delhi Police without giving any basis for such accusations.</p>

<p>When the high court had questioned the source based on which he had made the allegations, Swamy and his lawyer had said they would file affidavits to reply to the court&#39;s query.</p>

<p>However, the high court had rejected their offer, saying it appeared that they had concealed information pertinent to the case which they ought to have disclosed when they had filed the petition.</p>

<p>BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who unearthed the 2G spectrum case, on Thursday, snubbed the verdict in the multi-crore scam while saying that the government needs loyal officers, not sycophants.</p>

JNU cancels Subramanian Swamy session on 'Why Ram Mandir in Ayodhya?'

<p>Subramanian Swamy, senior BJP leader has assured the devotees of Lord Ram that they will be able to celebrate next Diwali in Ayodhya.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that the construction of Ram Temple will commence soon and it will be complete by next Diwali in October.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ram Setu is a continuous stretch of limestone shoals between Rameshwaram Island, southeastern coast of Tamil Nadu and Northwestern coast of Sri Lanka.</p>

<p>Hindus believe that Ram Setu is the same stretch of land that was constructed by Lord Rama and his army of apes to reach Lanka.&nbsp;</p>
