They want this agitation to serve as a warning to the employers before another round of pay negotiations begins on Monday.

"The people are not only underpaid, they are hopelessly overworked," Frank Werneke, the chief of Verdi, was quoted as saying, as he described the pay rise as "a matter of survival”.

Verdi is seeking a 10.5 per cent pay rise, while the EVG wants a 12 per cent raise for its staff.

The bins are overflowing and the food rotting in some of the rubbish bags is making the city stink. Till Tuesday, more than 7,000 tonnes of garbage was piling up on the roads of the city.

The pension strikes were joined by the refuse collectors a week ago and the authorities of Paris said that half of the districts of the city, which fall under the council workers, have been badly hit by the action.

The strikers have blocked three waste treatment sites and a fourth remains partially closed. Paris council stated that in the 10 districts, which fall under private companies, the services have been running normally.

Romantic city Paris turns into a garbage dump as strikes continue

Continuing their&nbsp;demand for pay raise, Junior doctors in England will go on strike for three days, 13, 14 and 15 March, the British Medical Association (BMA) has said. According to the BMA, young doctors are at a loss for options after Health Secretary Steve Barclay "refused to attend" a meeting to discuss their wages.

The strike will involve no work, which means&nbsp;no emergency cover and on-call shifts.

In a recent ballot, over 40,000 junior doctors&nbsp;chose to engage in industrial action, and hospital trusts and employers have now been informed that the 72-hour walkout will take place. Junior doctors are overall 40% of the medical workforce. Sharing their woes, the BMA union said the junior doctors are "demoralised, angry and no longer willing to work for wages that have seen a real terms decline of over 26% in the past 15 years".

In a recent ballot, over 40,000 junior doctors chose to engage in industrial action, and hospital trusts and employers have now been informed that the 72-hour walkout will take place. Junior doctors are overall 40% of the medical workforce. Sharing their woes, the BMA union said the junior doctors are "demoralised, angry and no longer willing to work for wages that have seen a real terms decline of over 26% in the past 15 years". The union, which comprises academics, trainers, librarians, and other professionals employed by colleges and universities, stated it was calling for higher pay after employers set a pay raise worth 3% after more than ten years of pay awards that lagged owing to inflation, Reuters reported.

If the issues are not resolved, the union will also re-ballot staffers at all 150 universities to extend its mandate and allow industrial action to be called well into 2023, including a boycott of marking and assessment starting in April.

To address the rising cost of living, the union is calling for both -- measures to stop the use of "insecure" contracts and a pay increase. On Wednesday, the Universities and Colleges Employers Association, which advocates for university employers, presented the UCU with a salary offer worth 4 per cent to 5 per cent, but the union claimed this was insufficient.
