BJP is urging Raj Thackeray to merge MNS with Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde: Report

<p>The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, or UBT) faction on Monday (Jan 15) approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Maharashtra Speaker's decision to acknowledge the Eknath Shinde, who is now the chief minister, group as the real Shiv Sena.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The group is also contesting the decision to refuse to disqualify the members of the Shinde faction for defection as per the tenth schedule of the Constitution.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the split in June 2022, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar declared the Sena bloc led by Shinde as the "real political party".&nbsp;</p>

Farooq Abdullah said '' We had called for today’s meeting as the announcement was made by the Election Commision about inclusion of outsiders in the voting list. The identity of Kashmiris, Dogras, Sikhs etc is under attack and if this decision is taken it will make sure that outsiders control the assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, and We don’t accept this decision at all".</p>

<p>Farooq Abdullah said that India took two hundred years to get freedom from the British and in the same manner we will fight till the end. Whether we are alive or not the people will fight for their rights. He also said that by bringing in these laws, the people who are outsiders here and have come for work to Jammu and Kashmir are being made soft targets.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mehbooba Mufti had called Farooq Abdullah after the announcement made by the Election Commision and asked him to convene an All-Party Meet. The same meeting will be held later in the Jammu region as well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the meeting it was also decided that a meeting will be called of all National Political Parties as well. These National parties would be apprised of the situation in the Union Territory as well as the issues prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir. ''We are calling leaders of National political parties to discuss the issues that are there in Jammu and Kashmir. &nbsp;We had called for a conference in 1983 and Advani Ji from BJP had attended that too. We had put forth our points and issues in front of them. We will not give up and we will fight. We are doing this for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,'' said Farooq Abdullah, NC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shiv Sena Leader who attended the meeting for the first time said that It is an issue of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not any political problem and if situation demands Shiv Sena will hold protests across India. '' This is an issue of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not any political problem, if the situation demands Shiv Sena will start protests all across the country against the centre's decision through which they want to snatch the rights of Jammu and Kashmir. The election for Speaker of the House began 11 am. The two probable candidates were Rajan Salvi, Sena MLA and supporter of Uddhav Thackeray, a joint candidate of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress and first-time BJP legislator Rahul Narwekar. Narwekar received a total of 164 votes in favour and 107 against. The BJP member took the charge as the Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly chanting, “Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji", "Jai Sri Ram", "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram.”</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">During the count, Samajwadi Party MLAs Abu Amzi and Raees Shaikh remained seated. Not just this, Farukh Anwar from AIMIM, two MLAs from SP and one MLA from AIMIM chose not to participate in the assembly.</p>

<p>The Supreme Court is due to hear the plea of Maharashtra Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde on disqualification notice against him and 15 rebel MLAs. The notice has been served by Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal. The matter will come up for hearing around 12:30 pm on Monday (June 27). A vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala will hear the cases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are two petitions, one from Shinde and the other by rebel MLAs. The petitions challenge the disqualification notice and appointment of Ajay Chaudhary as leader of the legislative party. The move to disqualify has been termed by the rebel camp as 'illegal and unconstitutional'. The petition seeks a stay on the disqualification notice.</p>

<p>Aaditya, son of chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, further said the 'Samruddhi Mahamarg' or Mumbai-Nagpur expressway project is likely to be completed next year.</p>

<p>"Every month we take stock of various projects, like MTHL (Trans-Harbour Link), Coastal Road, Worli-Sewree connector etc," he said.</p>

<p>Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde said the Patripul ROB would open for traffic after 30 days.</p>

<p>"This ROB is a New Year gift for citizens of Kalyan- Dombivli," he added.</p>

<p>The Shiv Sena on Monday said it is the Centre's responsibility to make arrangements for sending migrant labourers to their native places in the wake of the lockdown enforced to contain the spread of coronavirus.</p>

<p>Several migrant labourers have been residing in the coronavirus hotspots of Mumbai's Dharavi slum area, it noted.</p>

<p>"It is the Centres responsibility to arrange trains and buses so that labourers could reach their homes," an editorial in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' said.</p>

<p>If these people continue to flock the streets, it is not safe for their health, the Marathi publication said, adding that the Centre cannot shrug off its responsibility.</p>

<p>"We wish that the kind of promptness shown by the Centre for the return of some Gujarati tourists from Haridwar (in Uttarakhand), should also be shown for migrant labourers," it said.</p>

<p>"These people are homesick and we cannot assess what would happen if they gather on streets," it added.</p>

<p>Without taking any names, the Sena said it feared that some people in Maharashtra would "instigate" the migrant labourers for their petty political gains.</p>

<p>It also took a dim view of the incident where hundreds of migrants gathered near Bandra station in Mumbai earlier this month and demanded that authorities make transport arrangements for them to go back to their native places.</p>

<p>The Sena said Maharashtra needs to take note of each and every labourer who gathered there, make necessary arrangements to send them back home and ensure to "foil" their any future attempt to come back to the state.</p>

<p>"These migrants should have trusted the state as it is trying to arrange food and shelter for them. If any other state has done so much for them, they should bring it to our notice," the Uddhav Thackeray-led said.</p>

<p>It also referred to some recent comments of Union minister Nitin Gadkari on the need for policy measures to create jobs in rural areas and check migration to cities for employment.</p>

<p>"What Gadkari has said is crucial. If these people wish to return to Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, how are they going to feed themselves?&nbsp;</p>

<p>The plea will be heard by the bench of Justice NV Ramana, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Sanjiv Khanna.</p>

<p>Following which Ajit Pawar was expelled as legislative party leader of NCP and Jayant Patil was entrusted with the responsibility.</p>

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Dilip Walse Patil met with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at his residence on Sunday. In a surprise move on Saturday morning, Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister while NCP's Ajit Pawar was sworn-in as his deputy. This came after a prolonged uncertainty over the government formation that lasted for nearly a month. Following which Ajit Pawar was expelled as legislative party leader of NCP and Jayant Patil was entrusted with the responsibility. Meanwhile, in Mumbai Congress leader Ashok Chavan also reached the NCP Chief Sharad Pawar's residence to hold a meeting with the senior leader. Supreme Court today will hear a joint plea of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress against the decision of Maharashtra Governor inviting BJP`s Devendra Fadnavis to form the government. Nationalist Congress Party late on Saturday moved 44 MLAs to Renaissance Hotel here on Saturday. The BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member assembly followed by Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44.

<p>The Nationalist Congress Party had on Saturday moved 44 MLAs to Renaissance Hotel in Mumbai. NCP MLA Manikrao Kakate, who was missing since yesterday and who reportedly accompanied Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to the Governor`s residence had also reached the Renaissance hotel on Sunday morning.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had also reached the hotel to meet MLAs of his party.&nbsp;</p>
