<p>As Shashi Kapoor breathed his last on Monday in Mumbai, Indian, as well as International media, reported the news of his demise on their respective platforms. Being India&#39;s first crossover star, Kapoor&#39;s demise was naturally covered by media outside India as well.<br />

Being India's first crossover star, Kapoor's demise was naturally covered by media outside India as well. <p>The superstar recalled how looking at Shashi Kapoor&#39;s striking image, he had himself thought he stood no chance in films. &quot;And I said to myself, as very uncertain thoughts raced through my mind of wanting to become a film actor, that, with men like him around, I stood no chance at all ..&quot;the actor wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bachchan and Kapoor worked together in 16 films and ruled the Box Office together in the 1970s. The most prominent film that the two featured in was Deewar, which had the two actors playing brothers but pitted against each other.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bachchan also wrote that how Shashi Kapoor was a humble man and despite the stardom, he would always warmly introduce himself to people, irrespective of the fact that they might already know him. The late actor had also inspired Big B to get his now signature haircut.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The actor also admitted that in the last few days, he had not visited Kapoor at the hospital and why he chose to visit Shashi Kapoor&#39;s residence on Monday night after he got the news of his demise. &quot; I never ever wanted to see this beautiful friend and &lsquo;samdhi&rsquo; in the state I saw him in hospital .. and I did not today, when they informed me that he had gone.&quot;</p>

<p>Shashi Kapoor was born as Balbir Raj Kapoor on 18 March 1938 and was the 3rd and the youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, the widower of Jennifer Kendal (sister of actress Felicity Kendal). He was a father to three: Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor.</p>

<p>Shashi Kapoor was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011 for his contributions to Art-Cinema. In 2015, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of Kapoor family to receive the highest award in Indian Cinema, after his father and brother Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor, respectively.</p>

<p>According to Prithvi Theater, an institution found by him, the actor had been keeping unwell for several months now.</p>

<p>He was admitted to Kokilaben hospital for a routine dialysis, where the superstar passed away.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shashi Kapoor was born as Balbir Raj Kapoor on 18 March 1938 and was the 3rd and the youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, the widower of Jennifer Kendal (sister of actress Felicity Kendal). He was a father to three: Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor.</p>

<p>Shashi Kapoor was&nbsp;honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011 for his contributions to Art-Cinema. In 2015, he was awarded the&nbsp;Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of Kapoor&nbsp;family to receive the highest award in Indian Cinema, after his father and brother Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor, respectively.</p>
