<p>The UPS also has the feature of lumpsum payment at superannuation, along with gratuity, which will be calculated as 1/10th of the monthly emolument plus dearness allowance for every six months served in the government.</p>

<p>A key feature borrowed from the NPS is that of a contributory and fully funded scheme, which means that the members can contribute towards their pension fund and ensure a high pension payout upon retirement.</p>

<p>Outlining his plans, Rohit, while answering Sheeran’s question on retirement, said, "I haven't really thought about retirement. But, I don't know where life takes you. I am still playing well at this point in time - so I am thinking I am going to continue for a few more years and then, I don't know. I really want to win the World Cup and there is a WTC final in 2025, hopefully, India makes it," said Rohit.</p>

<p>"I get inflammation in my knee whenever I train for an hour or two. I am not able to bend my knee so a second session of training is not possible. The doctors have given me a couple of injections. Of course, the Olympics is near and it is tough (to qualify),'' Saina told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday.</p>

<p>''But I am trying my level best to come back. The physios are helping me but if the inflammation doesn't reduce, it will take a little more time to recover. I also don't want to play half-heartedly and results will also not come.</p>

<p>"If you are thinking about the knee showing inflammation after a training, then in tournament also if it shows up after one round, then it will be a negative sign. I am trying to sort out that first. Playing is easy, to maintain the body, to not have any niggles is what is important. Hopefully, with the guidance of physios and Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, let's see how I recover and comeback. It all depends on practice," Saina further pointed out.</p>

<p>Notably, Saina&nbsp;has slipped to No. 55 in women's singles badminton rankings. She is not even in the top 100 in the race to Paris rankings, having featured only in two tournaments since the Olympics qualification cycle kicked off early this year in May. Traditionally, the dream for many NRIs had been to settle in economically developed countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, or the UK. However, India's rapid progress towards achieving developed nation status, coupled with its resilience during global challenges, is reshaping the retirement landscape.</p>

<p>According to a recent survey by NRI-focused fintech platform SBNRI, a growing number of NRIs are now considering India as their preferred retirement destination.</p>

<p>India's economic resurgence is a major driver of this shifting trend. With its burgeoning manufacturing capabilities, a thriving startup ecosystem, robust financial services, and impressive technological advancements, India is on the cusp of global prominence. A remarkable 72 percent of NRIs believe that India now provides a stable and lucrative avenue for investment, appealing to residents and non-residents alike.</p>

<p>The Indian economy has exhibited remarkable resilience across various sectors, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government's efforts to bolster financial stability have further solidified India's attractiveness as a retirement destination.</p>

<p>A key factor contributing to this shift is the financial benefits India offers to its NRIs. India allows them to earn in foreign currencies, providing a competitive edge. NRIs can then convert their foreign earnings to invest and save in India, capitalizing on the nation's burgeoning financial sector.</p>

<p>The SBNRI survey, which polled 100 NRIs from countries including Australia, Canada, the USA, the UK, and Singapore, yielded compelling insights:</p>

<p>A significant 80 percent of NRIs in Australia and Singapore are contemplating retirement in India. The UK and the USA also show strong interest, with 70 percent and 75 percent, respectively, considering India as their retirement destination.</p>

<p>The average percentage of NRIs considering settling in India post-retirement across all surveyed countries is a substantial 60 percent.</p>

<p><strong>Shifting Retirement Dreams</strong></p>

<p>This shift underscores a reimagining of the Indian dream. While leaving the homeland in pursuit of global opportunities was the norm, India's ascent on the global stage is causing NRIs to reconsider their life plans.</p>

<p>As the Indian government actively fosters an environment conducive to investment, innovation, and economic growth, India is rapidly emerging as an attractive option for NRIs seeking to spend their retirement years in familiar surroundings.</p>

<p>In summary, India's journey towards developed nation status is capturing the attention of its diaspora.
