Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the group of leaders that he said were "mocking religion" and "engaged in dividing people".
He further alleged that there were many instances of foreign powers attempting to weaken the sovereignty of the country by joining hands with these people.
While addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of the Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute for Cancer in Chhattarpur, the prime minister said, "Nowadays we see that there is a group of leaders who mock religion, ridicule it, are engaged in dividing people, and many times foreign powers also try to weaken the country and religion by supporting these people. People who hate the Hindu faith have been living in some phase or the other for centuries."
PM Modi then fired back at the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's recent "Mrityu Kumbh" remarks, without directly naming anyone, "People who have fallen into the mentality of slavery keep attacking our faith, beliefs, and temples, our religion, culture, and principles. These people abuse our festivals, traditions, and customs. They dare to attack the religion and culture, which are progressive by nature. Dividing our society and breaking its unity is their agenda."
"At this time, Dhirendra Shastri has been making people aware of the mantra of unity in the country for a long time. Now, he has reached another resolution in the interest of society and humanity. This is the plan to build this cancer institute. That means now, here in Bageshwar Dham, you will get the blessings of bhajan, food, and a healthy life...," Prime Minister Modi said.

The leaders also agreed to enhance cooperation in information and intelligence sharing, developing and exchanging experiences, best practices and technologies, capacity building, and to "strengthen cooperation in law enforcement, anti-money laundering, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and other transnational crimes," the joint statement said. They also discussed ways and means to promote cooperation in cybersecurity, including the prevention of the use of cyberspace for terrorism, radicalisation, and for disturbing social harmony, it added. Earlier in the day, Modi and the Amir held wide-ranging talks with a focus on trade, investments, technology, energy, and people-to-people ties, further cementing the "deep and traditional relationship" between the two countries. They also exchanged views on "regional and global issues" of mutual interest, the Ministry of External Affairs said. PM Modi expresses distress over New Delhi Railway Station stampede that killed 18

United States President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who is wanted for his alleged role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, to India. After his bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both leaders addressed the media, with the US president saying that Rana was "going back to India to face justice".

PM Modi, President Trump meet to strengthen India-US ties

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised concerns about the situation in Bangladesh during his meeting with US President Donald Trump. The discussion took place amid strained relations between New Delhi and Dhaka.
Tensions between India and Bangladesh have increased following the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the establishment of an interim government in August last year. Speculation in Dhaka suggests a possible role of the US “deep state” in the protests that led to the Awami League government’s exit.

When questioned about this speculation before his talks with Modi, Trump denied any US involvement in Bangladesh’s political transition. “There was no role for our deep state. This is something the Prime Minister has been working on for a long time and has been ongoing for hundreds of years, frankly. I’ve been reading about it, but I will leave Bangladesh to the Prime Minister,” Trump said, though he did not clarify what efforts he was referring to.

Discussions

Following the meeting, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that Bangladesh was among the topics discussed. He stated that Modi shared India’s perspective on recent developments in Bangladesh, which may not be well received by the interim administration led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
“This was a subject discussed between the two leaders. The Prime Minister shared his views and concerns regarding recent developments in Bangladesh and India’s perspective on the situation,” Misri said.
Although he did not provide further details, India has previously expressed concerns over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, the growing defence and intelligence ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan, and statements from Bangladeshi student leaders in the interim government that are viewed as contrary to Indian interests. Additionally, New Delhi has raised objections over Dhaka’s opposition to completing border fencing along unfenced sections of the India-Bangladesh boundary.

Misri stated that India hopes for a constructive and stable relationship with Bangladesh but acknowledged concerns about the current situation.
In recent weeks, India and Bangladesh have summoned each other’s senior diplomats to express objections on various issues. Bangladesh’s foreign ministry has protested against what it described as “false and fabricated” statements made by Hasina from self-exile in India. Meanwhile, India has condemned the destruction of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s home in Dhaka by a mob.
