"If this happened in my day, in my prime, there's no way he is around. No way. And the board has to change," the 53-year-old told reporters at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, where he shot a 75 in the first round of the British Open.

"I'm sorry, it's not right. Talk to us, tell us what you're going to do, plan on negotiating. Don't just go rogue as a member of the board and come back with a deal and think we're all going to say 'yes'. "You're affecting people's lives. You're affecting the professional game. It's just so bad."

The letter by Stephenson, dated July 9, also read that the PGA’s framework agreement with PIF “is not one that I can objectively evaluate or in good conscience support, particularly in light of the US&nbsp;intelligence report concerning Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.”

Khashoggi, a contributing columnist for the Post, was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018. He was critical of Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who US&nbsp;intelligence concluded, might have ordered his killing. Prince Salman, however, denies the claim.

The other four independent directors of the board will now vote on the&nbsp;replacement of Stephenson after consulting with five player members and John Lindert, the PGA of America president - a non-voting board member. There's no timeline to elect the replacement member.

"I'm on top of the world right now. Hopefully I can stay there for at least one more week."

Grillo won his only prior PGA title at the 2015 Frys.com Open, beating American Kevin Na with a birdie on the second playoff hole in his debut as a PGA member.

The only other Argentine winner of the event was Roberto De Vicenzo in 1957, the first Colonial champion from outside the United States.

World number one Scottie Scheffler, who made a hole-in-one in shooting 67, shared third on 273 with England's Harry Hall, who shot 73 after a bogey on 18 to miss the playoff.

"Winning on the PGA Tour is a lot closer than I thought it was," Hall said. "Coming down the stretch there you don't need amazing golf to get it done."

Grillo, who had four birdies and two bogeys in the first seven holes, made a 17-foot birdie putt at the 12th and curled in a birdie putt from just inside 20 feet at the par-3 16th, little knowing he'd win with another birdie on the same hole after a double bogey at 18.

"I made a double on 18 and honestly I didn't care," Grillo said. "I'd have liked to get it on the 72nd but I closed with some great swings at 18 and two great birdies at 16."

Hall missed a 16-foot par putt to slip two adrift of Grillo, while Schenk made an eight-footer to birdie 16 and reach eight-under.

But Grillo went way right off the 18th tee, took a penalty drop, needed two more to reach the green and two-putted for double bogey to create a three-way tie for the lead.

Hall, ranked 197th, found water off the 18th tee and made bogey. Schenk missed a 15-foot birdie putt and tapped in for a playoff.

"The last was a little bit funky," Hall said. "I hit a great shot. It overdrew on the went and went really far. I didn't think I could reach that. It went 340 (yards)."

<h2>'I'll learn from it'</h2>

Hall and Schenk shared the 54-hole lead but stumbled back.

Schenk made a bogey at six after finding a fairway bunker, another at 10 after hitting greenside sand and missed the green at the par-3 13th for a third bogey.

Hall opened with back-to-back birdies but missed four-foot par putts at the fifth and par-3 eighth and made bogey at the par-5 11th.

"Missed a couple inside five feet," Hall said. "I don't normally do that. I'll learn from it."

Scheffler aced the 189-yard eighth hole with a 7-iron.

"It was nice," Scheffler said. "It landed where I wanted it to, everybody started standing up and I was fortunate it went in."

Four-time major winner Brooks Koepka shrugged off rain-soaked conditions and boos from spectators Saturday to fire a second straight four-under par 66 and grab a one-stroke lead at the PGA Championship.

Koepka, among US stars who jumped to the Saudi-financed LIV Golf League from the PGA Tour, sank a 47-foot putt at the par-4 17th hole for his fifth birdie to finish on six-under 204 at soggy Oak Hill.

"I putted pretty well and I was pretty happy with my game," Koepka said. "It was tough with the rain, moisture on the greens slowing them up. But I felt like I was a lot more aggressive than I was the two previous days on the greens."

That was good enough for a one-stroke ahead over Norway's Viktor Hovland and Canadian Corey Conners, with LIV's Bryson DeChambeau fourth on 207. All three shot 70 on Saturday.

Koepka and DeChambeau, high-profile players in the PGA Tour-LIV split, were booed by the crowd when they were introduced on the first tee. But both turned jeers into roars with spectacular shotmaking.

"I love when the fans are on you, cheering for you, or giving you crap if you screw up," Koepka said. "That's the beauty of it. I want that atmosphere."

After a day-long deluge, Koepka birdied the par-5 fourth and par-3 fifth, took his lone bogey at seven, then sank birdie putts of 15 feet at 12 and 18 feet at the par-5 13th before his penultimate-hole bomb.

Koepka could join Tiger Woods and LIV's Phil Mickelson as the only players since 1990 to win five majors by capturing a third career PGA crown.

Hovland, ranked 11th, was set to share the lead in quest of his first major title but found a greenside bunker and made bogey at 18.

"I'm playing really solid tee to green, giving myself a lot of easy pars," Hovland said. "Haven't quite made enough putts to get the most out of my game. Hopefully that will change tomorrow."

In his slog across the water-logged layout, Conners made clutch par saves and birdie putts from inside four feet at the eighth and nine feet at the par-3 15th, but was undone by a double bogey six at 16.

"It was a really challenging day with the conditions," Conners said. "I kept it out of trouble and played a lot of good shots."

Conners, ranked 29th, is trying to join 2003 Masters winner Mike Weir as his homeland's only men's major champions. He won last month's PGA Tour Texas Open and had his best major finish, a share of sixth, at last year's Masters.

DeChambeau was two-over on the day after a bogey at 13 but nearly drove the 14th green to set up a birdie and made an eight-foot birdie putt at 15.

He wasn't thrown off by his poor reception at the start.

"I don't care. It's not a big deal," DeChambeau said. "They're going to do that no matter what. I appreciate the fans, them doing that to me. I've got no problem, either way. It still was fun today."

Justin Rose, the 2013 US Open champion trying to become the first Englishman to win the PGA Championship since Jim Barnes in 1916 and 1919, shot 69 to share fifth with second-ranked American Scottie Scheffler on 208, four adrift.

Scheffler, last year's Masters champion, would overtake Jon Rahm atop the world rankings with a victory. He could become the first man to win the PGA and Players Championship in the same year since Hal Sutton in 1983.man

The PGA Tour Latinoamerica and PGA Tour Canada will merge into a single circuit that will begin play in early 2024, the PGA Tour said on Tuesday as it offers a new pathway for&nbsp;golfers to move up the ranks. The newly-branded PGA Tour Americas will stage 16 events across Latin America, Canada and the United States from February through September with 15 cards up for grabs on the developmental Korn Ferry Tour.

"We are thrilled about PGA Tour Americas and the role this tour will play in preparing players for the next step in their professional&nbsp;golf&nbsp;journey," Alex Baldwin, who oversees PGA Tour Americas, the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Q-School and PGA Tour University, said in a news release.

"PGA Tour Americas will be an extremely competitive tour aimed at identifying, developing and transitioning top-performing players to the next level as they ascend through the ranks and strive to reach the highest level of professional&nbsp;golf, the PGA Tour."

Five conditional Korn Ferry Tour cards are available to the top two finishers in the Latin America Swing and top three from the North America Swing in the case that they do not finish in the top 10 on the final PGA Tour Americas points list.

The schedule for the inaugural season will be announced in September with details regarding purses and points distribution to be released closer to the start of play in February.

England's Matt Fitzpatrick beat defending champion Jordan Spieth in a thrilling sudden-death playoff on Sunday to win the PGA's RBC Heritage tournament.

The pair, who played in the same group in the final round, both ended regulation play on 17-under 267 after Spieth shot 66 and Fitzpatrick 68 at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

It took until the third hole of the playoff for a champion to be decided when Fitzpatrick produced a brilliant 9-iron approach shot on the par-4 18th and made a simple birdie putt to win.

Spieth, who beat fellow American Patrick Cantlay in a playoff last year, had over-hit his approach going to the back of the green and needed two putts to make par.

Fitzpatrick, the US Open champion, becomes the first Englishman to win the tournament since Nick Faldo in 1984 and he did so in the town where he spent many of his family vacations after first visiting as a six-year-old.

"It's hard to describe. I said to (caddie) Billy (Foster), it doesn't get better than this -- walking down here, just looking around. It's a course I dreamed of playing when I was young," he said, with his family congratulating him at the side of the green.

"I managed to play a couple of times with&nbsp;my dad and yes, this one means more than anything."

Spieth had made four birdies in the opening six holes but he missed a short putt for bogey on the par-3 14th and left the door open for Fitzpatrick.

The Englishman then made birdies on the 15th and 16th to grab a share of the lead and could have won it at the death if Spieth hadn't made a tricky six-footer to force the playoff.

"It was a really good round. I got off to a dream start and then just kind of hung in there for a little while and then made a nice putt to get into the playoff, and then played the playoff really well," said Spieth.

"Someone was going to make a birdie. It wasn't going to be a bogey to lose that playoff the way that we were both playing today. He just did what he needed to do on 15 in, when it had been kind of me and Patrick for a little while there. He just snuck in and played some tremendous golf."

Cantlay, the other member of the leading group, finished in third after carding a 68 to leave him one shot behind Fitzpatrick and Spieth.

Cantlay paid the price for bogeys on the par-4 13th and the par-3 14th, where his ball had stuck in the wood barrier by the waterside green.

Xander Schauffele's final-round 66 earned him fourth place, two shots behind the leaders after he ended with a late surge by making birdies on 15, 16 and 17.

World number two Scottie Scheffler's final round of 70 left him 12-under overall and tied for 11th while Masters champion and world number one Jon Rahm shot 68 but was tied for 15th, six shots off the pace.

Kurt Kitayama kept his cool in a nerve-shredding final round to clinch the first PGA Tour victory of his much-traveled career at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando on Sunday.

The 30-year-old journeyman, who led by one at the start of the final round, held off a ferocious challenge from some of the biggest names in world golf to card an even-par 72 and complete a one-shot victory.

Kitayama's hopes of a maiden win appeared to have faded after a disastrous end to the front nine, when he took a triple-bogey seven to relinquish the lead.

But the 46th-ranked California steadied the ship to stay in the hunt down the stretch, reeling off seven straight pars before sinking a 13-foot birdie putt at the 17th to reclaim top spot on the leaderboard on nine under.

Until that point, it looked as if the tournament was destined for a playoff, with big guns Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler both firmly in the hunt for the title.&nbsp;

No fewer than five players shared the lead at one stage with just a few holes remaining.

He almost sealed it with his first putt, rolling a 47-footer to the very lip of the cup to roars from the packed galleries, before eventually tapping in for par.

"It was really hard. I'm going to sleep really well tonight. It's everything I kind of mentally prepared myself for," said Kitayama.

"I've always dreamed of winning on the Tour and to finally do it, it's pretty amazing."

The win was especially sweet for Kitayama, who finished as a runner-up three times in 2022.

Kitayama arrived on the PGA Tour after a challenging start to his career, playing on the developmental Web.com Tour with little success after turning professional in 2015 before moving to the Asian Tour in 2018.&nbsp;

He switched to the European Tour in 2019, where he has two won twice, before finally earning a PGA Tour card in 2021.

For long periods on Sunday it looked as if it was going to be another near-miss for the Californian, as other players began building up a head of steam down the stretch.

But as the tension mounted, player after player squandered opportunities to take the lead as putts refused to drop.

Northern Ireland star McIlroy just missed a birdie putt on the 18th that would have put him on nine under, while Scheffler missed a birdie putt on the 17th that could have put him in the leading pack.

McIlroy carded a two-under-par 70 to close, finishing tied for second on eight under alongside Harris English, &nbsp;who also shot a 70.

McIlroy looked to be ready to sweep to victory after starting the back nine with three birdies in his first four holes to move into the lead, before back-to-back bogeys on the 14th and 15th checked his progress.&nbsp;

McIlroy later revealed he had not been aware he was in the lead after his birdies on the 12th and 13th -- and paid the price for an over-aggressive tee-shot on 14.

"As I was walking to the 14th green, I looked behind me at the scoreboard, and I was leading by one," McIlroy said. "If I had of known that, I wouldn't have tried to play the shot that I played on 14, which was unfortunate."&nbsp;

Although he recovered with a birdie on the 16th, the damage had been done.

Scheffler meanwhile finished in a four-way tie for fourth alongside Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and England’s Tyrell Hatton on seven under.

The Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour announced its first broadcast deal in the United States on Thursday, penning a 'multi-year' agreement with The CW Network, the tour said in a statement.

LIV's debut season in 2022 did not have a broadcast partner in the US with tournaments only being shown on their own website and YouTube channel.

While the deal is not with one of the top networks for live sport in the US, securing a television deal in the States was one of the prime goals for the tour which has signed up several top players but has faced criticism from human rights campaigners and legal battles with the PGA Tour.

"This is a momentous day for LIV Golf as this partnership is about more than just media rights. The CW will provide accessibility for our fans and maximum exposure for our athletes and partners as their reach includes more than 120 million households across the United States,” said LIV CEO Greg Norman.&nbsp;

The CW is 75 per cent owned by Nexstar Media Group, which owns a host of local channels across the United States, but the channel is not known for showing live sports.

"For The CW, our partnership with LIV Golf marks a significant milestone in our goal to re-engineer the network with quality, diversified programming for our viewers, advertisers and CW affiliates. This also marks the first time in The CW's 17-year history that the network is the exclusive broadcast home for live mainstream sports," said Dennis Miller, President, The CW Network.

Under the deal, Saturday and Sunday action will be broadcast live on television and The CW App with the Friday opening round only on the app.

Unlike the established PGA Tour's tournaments, which are four-day 72-hole competitions, LIV plays over three days and 54 holes with a shotgun start.

Commenting on the same, Scottie Scheffler said,&nbsp;“It's disappointing not to have Tiger playing here; we all know Tiger wanted to be here, it's more disappointing for him.”

His pulling out from the charity tournament, in the Bahamas, has left organisers in a tough spot as the veteran golfer hadn't been seen in action after appearing at St Andrew's for The Open Championship early this year.&nbsp;

During an exclusive interaction with WION's Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo, Woods said that he "wanted to play the hero world challenge but pushed myself too hard".&nbsp;

Woods also commented on the ongoing LIV Golf vs PGA Tour tussle, which continues to make the headlines in 2022.&nbsp; "The LIV golf PGA tour issue was not handled well. There is nothing wrong in having competition and adding to the ecosystem of golf," Woods told WION, further stating that "it has become pretty ugly and it is not good for the game of golf."&nbsp;

Woods further added, "The onus is now on the majors to set their qualifying criteria. We want the best players in golf to play against each other but at the moment we can't identify that. The world rankings system is flawed and at the moment there are many moving pieces."&nbsp; "We will come to a resolution some way or another and hopefully it is a positive one for all parties involved," the veteran concluded.&nbsp;

Earlier, on Tuesday (November 29), Woods didn't mince his words while talking about LIV CEO Greg Norman during a&nbsp;press conference ahead of the Hero World Challenge.

“As Rory said, I think Greg’s got to leave and then we can eventually, hopefully, have a stay between the two lawsuits and figure something out. But why would you change anything if you’ve got a lawsuit against you? They sued us first. I see that there’s an opportunity out there if both organisations put a stay on their litigation but that’s the problem, they’ve got to put a stay on it."

“I think it has to start with leadership on their side. Understanding that what is happening right now is not the best fit or future for the whole game of golf. Now, what is the best way for our game to grow? It’s not this way. You need to have the two bodies come together. If one side has so much animosity, someone trying to destroy our tour, then how do you work with that?", Woods pointed out.

While the LIV Golf-PGA Tour tussle is far from over, looks like it has also severely hit the equation between Woods and Norman. At present, the former remains firm on his stance that both LIV Golf and PGA Tour cannot exist simultaneously.&nbsp;

The legendary golfer said, "Was playing using a cart and the scores were good but the moment I started to walk the golf course the problems started. Klayman, who names&nbsp;PGA&nbsp;and DP World tour heads Jay Monahan and Keith Pelley in the filing, says their actions have broken competition law.

The&nbsp;PGA&nbsp;Tour declined to comment and the DP World Tour and OWGR did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The filing alleges that "there is a collusive, coordinated effort to destroy LIV Golf and its players in their infancy". In a statement on his 'Freedom Watch' website, Klayman said that the OWGR was "alleged to be major part of the conspiracy to restrain trade in violation of Florida's antitrust laws."

He said that "LIV Golf players are being denied world ranking points to eliminate them from playing in major and other tournaments, harming consumers in this respect as well." In the filing, Klayman also claims that the quality of golf offered at&nbsp;PGA&nbsp;Tour has been "diluted and destroyed by a deterioration of the talent level" as a result of suspensions of LIV Golf players.

The LIV Series, bankrolled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, is offering up to $250 million in prize money for its eight events, including an eye-popping record $50 million purse this weekend at Trump National Doral Club where the first team champion will be crowned. But the Saudi money has come under plenty of scrutiny with critics accusing LIV&nbsp;golfers of being little more than well paid mercenaries in a "sportwashing" scheme by a nation trying to improve its reputation over its human rights record.

LIV&nbsp;Golf&nbsp;also spent nearly $1 billion in signing bonuses, according to reports, to lure away some of the PGA Tour's top names including major winners Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith, sparking a feud over how the sport is run.

"I think that ultimately something gets worked out but the Tour handled it so badly," Trump told a small group of media and supporters at the conclusion of his Pro Am round on Thursday. "The people at the top, something should happen with them. They are dealing with very good people with unlimited money."

Trump boasted that it was LIV that wanted to stage their season-ending extravaganza at his Miami club, adding that the PGA Tour was desperate to get back as well.

But Trump is currently harbouring a grudge with the PGA of America over the decision to pull the 2022 PGA Championship from his Bedminster property in New Jersey following the Jan. 6 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
